This Mid Century Modern A Frame is on trend & has been renovated for you to enjoy. You will find it is the one of the most unique places to stay in Southern Illinois. Our three themed bedrooms are super fun. The "Daisy Cottage" on the main level is soft and romantic. The lower level bedroom has the soul of a Bohemian. We call her "The Gypsy Room". The loft, or as we like to call it, "The Crow's Nest" is a walk on the wild side and now is affectionately named the "Jungle" Room. All bedrooms have king sized beds. The lodge has the kitchen, dining room and living room on the main level. Our custom decor will have you falling in love with the inside as much as the outside. This lake side property is equipped with a dock to fish from, covered hot tub and BBQ area. The lakeside fire pit area has a custom totem pole, carved with wildlife from our area. Our property sits next to Shawnee National Forest, Trails of Tears State Forest and LaRue Pine Hill, which has thousands of acres for exploring. Our lower level game room has a retro design perfect for hanging with your friends. Feel free to spin our vintage records, play games, have a cup of coffee while watching the fish play. We have bass, bluegill, catfish and crappie. We have wild life including hoot owls, deer, and the occasional bald eagle. Southern Illinois is a great location for birdwatching. The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail is a hop, skip and a jump away. Margie B's Mid Mod Lake Lodge was built in 1970. The renter must be at least 25 years of age. Safety features include: security camera facing driveway, first kit, fire extinguisher, lighted outdoor areas. Please read our rental agreement prior to booking.

Cabin was cozy, clean, and cute as expected from the pictures! This was my first time booking so I was a little nervous, and host was very responsive and welcoming - such an added bonus and level of comfort when you're in charge of organizing!Hot tub, bonfire pit, and record player were all a hit during this girls stay - we even got custom sweatshirts to memorialize our stay!! I grew up here!

Attending family reunion in the Trail of Tears State Forest which was very close by. I grew up only a few miles from there too. BEAUTIFUL location and lots of room! Can't think of any amenities that it did NOT have! Owners were close and very nice people. I hope to stay there again!

Family connection at the Lake

Wonderful property, clean, beautifully decorated.All the basics for light cooking. We checked all the boxes, hiking, wine trail, shopping, relaxed, caught up, played board games and listened to some great vinyl in the evenings.

Colorful renovated Aframe

This was a great space with multiple places to hang out and fun decorated bedrooms. Kinda tucked away but perfect for what we needed- we had a work retreat and barely left the property the whole time and were very comfortable! They put a lot of love and details into the renovation.

Home away from home

Loved this unique cottage right off a private lake! We loved the quiet and peaceful backyard with firepit and hot tub. Our hosts were so easy to communicate with and very gracious with their home. You can tell they have taken a lot of time to make it a wonderful and eclectic spot to spend a relaxing weekend.

Hidden oasis

I adored the property! It was the best place to stay and relax and read and just rest. Tasha stop by and greeted us which was really awesome and even their golden retriever Nala stop by for a visit.! We even got a taste of local honey which we ended up purchasing and meeting with the lady down the road who had the honey. Simply amazing thank you!

Wonderful property, wonderful hosts!

My wife and I and our five year-old son were fortunate enough to stay at this cabin for a couple days while on spring break. To say that the cabin was perfect and the hosts were gracious and accommodating would be an understatement. They went out of their way to make sure our son felt welcome on their property. Burrito the burro was an absolute delight. The cabin is super close to many great hiking/exploration spots in Shawnee National Forest. Our two days went by super fast and weā€™re already looking forward to returning. Thanks folks!

Amazing

This cabin is amazing. If you're looking for peace, beauty, or esthetics... absolutely wonderful. It was just my girlfriend and i for valentines weekend and the property owner had flowers, chocolates (really good ones!), Hershey kisses (everywhere! Lol) and it was just wonderful in all aspects... and buritto visited us the first night, and s/he was so freaking cool... we were both amazed that s/he didn't smell (at all) and just wanted pets... nuzzled with my girlfriend for a bit, then went about his/ her business... def will reopen to this cabin in the future! just wonderful

Amazing private space! We loved the decor and the little details. The guest info book was very helpful and interesting. We spent the mornings on the deck looking at birds and squirrels. A flock of wild turkeys walked past the cabin. Stars were super bright at night with dark skies. This place is the perfect little escape! Thank you!

This was the most beautiful cabin tucked away on private property in the Shawnee forest. We had the most peaceful weekend. Property is just as listed, beautifully decorated, and owners were so kind and responsive!

We loved the place! You have to stay in this very unique home with plenty of space and lots to do without leaving the property. We could have sat on the deck all day just enjoying the quiet. We will definitely book again in the future.
