Hillen House is nestled comfortably on beautiful Compass Lake in Northwest Florida, about an hour from Florida's most beautiful beaches in Panama City Beach. This spring fed - crystal clear lake will have you not want to leave the relaxing, peaceful atmosphere with "its" own private beach for swimming, skiing or boating. Bring your watercraft and use the boathouse. Recently renovated, Hillen House provides all the amenities required for a wonderful vacation with family or friends. Experience once, and you will be back every year!

Room Layout:
Master Bedroom (King size bed) with adjoining bathroom.
Bedroom 2 (Queen Size Bed) with adjoining bathroom.
Bedroom 3 (Queen size bed) with adjoining bathroom.
Mother-in-law Suite (Queen size bed) with adjoining bathroom and outdoor shower.
Gameroom with a trundle bed which folds down and sleeps two people in two twin sized mattresses. That room has an adjoining sink and toilet but no shower.
There is also one very small bedroom with a daybed in it with an adjoining bathroom.

This was a last minute to decision to come home to visit family for the holidays. The Hillen house was an offered a wonderful place to relax while also close enough to attend family events in the area. The home was clean, the view lake view was amazing. It would be a terrific place in the summer.

We had a WONDERFUL time! The Host and the Property Manager were super responsive to any questions we had - we will Definitely be back!I wouldn't change anything but I would suggest perhaps having at least one hair blow dryer available and some throw blankets would be nice.

This is our 4th year staying a week at the Hillen House and it is the absolute highlight of our Summer every year! The house has every amenity you could think of and is always super clean. The layout of the house is ideal for a big group and the outdoor space is the best part. Nothing beats the sunset views from the swing on the dock or the rocking chairs on the back porch. We love our time at Compass Lake and The Hillen House!

Compass Lake Vacation

Everything was good with house;the cookware and food storage containers were adequate.Having an extra refrigerator was definitely a plus.Loved the covered area with seating and ceiling fans.Area at water was very accessible.My only complaint was I never got an email with the code to get key or any kind of check out information. The property managers wife was there when I got there and she gave me the key.If she had not done that it would have been an issue.But we had a really good week and enjoyed the house very much.

Annual Family Trip

We absolutely love this place and look forward to coming back with our family each year. This year we had some issue with ants in the kitchen area and pretty bad in the yard. My husband bought ant poison and spray to help. Other than that, everything was great. Thank you again for another amazing week for our family to enjoy.

Absolutely Beautiful!!!

This was a spring break trip for me, my husband our 2 daughters and their boyfriends. I have to say this was one of the nicest locations on the lake we have ever stayed. Magical view of lake from floor to ceiling windows in family room, huge dock to fish & nice big yard. The home was very clean & decorated beautifully. There are 3 bedrooms in main house & across the breezeway with 2 daybeds in 2 different rooms and one bedroom tucked away around back all with own bathrooms. It provided many places to sleep and also a ping pong table which was fun for all of us. A grill that is awesome while grilling you can gaze at lake. Home was well stocked and property manager was so nice and helpful....even when we accidentally locked ourselves out he was there right away. I would absolutely recommend this home for anyone wishing for a peaceful and fun get a way. We brought our jet ski's and the entire lake is really pretty. We cant wait to go back!

Wonderful Lakehouse Escape

Our family was extremely happy with our accommodations at Hillen House during the week of the 4th of July. When we arrived, we were greeted by the property manager and given a full, guided-tour of the property. The property manager was friendly and informative as he told us about the house, the lake and the surrounding area. The house is a unique design with a wonderful breezeway between the two sides. We enjoyed spending time just sitting in the breezeway looking out over the beautiful lake. The setting feels very private and we didn't feel crowded at all, whether we were inside or outside. And speaking of outside, if you have a boat and you like watersports or fishing, it really doesn't get any better than this. The dock and boathouse are outstanding and there is a nice, sandy-bottom swimming area with easy access into and out of the water. High-quality composite decking along with covered areas to relax and enjoy the view made the dock one of our favorite areas. Also, we were very impressed that the owners had installed an electrical safety system that monitors the water around the dock and gives off a warning in the event there is a dangerous electrical current. This is a wonderful safety system to protect swimmers or anyone in the water around the dock. The home is well furnished and the beds were very comfortable. The design of the house allows everyone to easily gather together or retreat to their separate spaces for privacy. The kitchen is nicely equipped and there is a large dining room table to gather around for eating or playing games. Compass Lake is very nice and there are wonderful views from most areas of the house. Overall, it was a fantastic place to stay and we hope to be able to return for another relaxing vacation!

Compass Lake Base Camp

We used this home as our base for kayak trips on the lakes and rivers in the Marianna area. The home was a short drive from all of the places we had planned to visit, and was elegant and well-furnished, particularly the kitchen. We like to cook on these trips, and particularly enjoyed group dining in the breezeway, overlooking the lake. While we weren't expecting the master bedroom to have a Jack-and-Jill bathroom shared with another bedroom, with 3 full baths and 2 half baths, everyone had enough space and privacy. The dock is new and an excellent place to watch the sun go down over the lake. I can highly recommend this property for a fun and relaxing getaway in an elegant setting.
