Summary:
Expect to find a relatively dark and moody interior filled with interesting things. The location is exceptional, with the apartment only a short walk from Wrigley Field, the bustling Southport shopping corridor, and both the red line and brown line subway stations. It's also within walking distance to all of the 'Boystown' nightlife. There is no parking available with the apartment.
The Space:
I've used my years of experience a designer to set up this unique flat so that it includes all the comforts of home while embracing the quirky charm that only a vintage building can offer.
I believe in high standards of personal comfort, so you'll only find high thread count cotton sheets on the bed, comfortable pillows, a great mattress, and thick towels. The bath products are from Public Goods and seem to be universally liked. We also supply a good amount of coffee and some other little amenities to really make you feel looked after.
A friendly but important note about my flat:
If you're sensitive to noise, please also note that because the building is vintage, you will hear some noise from my neighbors upstairs and occasionally from passersby. Also, the building entrance is located next to the apartment door, so there will be some noise when my neighbors enter and exit the building.
You'll have private access to the entire flat and won't be sharing it with anyone else during your stay. Most of the reviews are from when I lived in this flat and rented out the guest room, but I've since moved and converted this to an entire-unit listing.
LOCATION
Wrigley field, grocery stores, places that cost $200 for dinner, places that cost $15 for dinner, wiener stands, shops selling pretty much anything you'd like...it is all only a short walk away. The train is around the corner, which is nice...and there are several major bus routes as well. Because of my flat's central location, I strongly recommend leaving your car at home. Any point of interest in Chicago can easily be reached by walking, public transit, or Uber.
Transportation:
Southport 'L' train stop (Brown line) → 6-min walk.
Addison 'L' train stop (Red/Brown lines) → 12-min walk.
O'Hare → 50 min via public transit or ~35 min drive.
Midway → 65 min via public transit or ~45 min drive.
SPECIAL PERKS
During your stay as my guest, you receive a free membership to The Metropolitan, a members-only club and co-working space located on the 66th and 67th floors of the Willis Tower (for reservations <14 days only).
The Metropolitan features upscale co-working space, dining, and bars, all with stunning views of Chicago and Lake Michigan. Message me for more details!
PARKING
Parking isn't included and the nearby streets are all either permitted (local residents only) or metered, so make sure not to use those spots. When parking, be sure to check all signs nearby because it's easy to get a ticket when parking rules are broken. For the easiest parking, I recommend using a service called SpotHero to reserve a spot nearby before you arrive.
CHECK-OUT
Unlike some other hosts, I won't ask you to wash the sheets, take out the trash, mow the lawn, or scrub anything. Checkout is at 11 AM.
Guest Access:
The entire flat is yours to use during your stay. You also have access to the building's shared laundry room.
