1894 Catskills Farmhouse Retreat near Hunter Mtn.

Enjoy the Catskills at our charming 19th century
farmhouse which combines the best of the old and new. Relax by a wood-burning stove or outdoors in the sauna or hot tub, or by the fire pit. A secluded location but only 5 min. to Hunter or Tannersville.

The house is old, built in 1894 and has characteristically small bedrooms and low ceilings but the furnishing are comfortable and meticulously maintained. The artwork is by local artists. Downstairs is the master bedroom with a king bed and full bathroom ensuite, as well as a second full bathroom and laundry room. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms with queen beds, and one bedroom has a half bathroom The modern kitchen has an electric glass top stove and is well-equipped for cooking the simplest to the most elaborate meal.

Adjoining the house is an outdoor deck with a picnic table, hot tub and sauna. On the lawn is a hammock and fire pit

Heating is managed by a NEST unit. In the summer there are air conditioning units in the main downstairs area and master bedrooms, all the other rooms have fans.

An EV charger available on the side of the house.

Guests have the house to themselves and full access to the 5 acre property grounds except for the garage and barn. There is an open lawn area for games in front of the house and a small footbridge which accesses woodland at the back of the property. Beyond that is the vast private Onteora Park.

We sometimes stay in a cottage at the back of the property but you still have privacy.

2027 Ski Season. In the New Year the house will be available from Jan 4, 2027 until the end of the Hunter Ski Season. We are looking for someone who will take it for this period. Open to negotiation.

Jack is a wonderful host, and the property is located on a lovely wooded area. It is well stocked, and all instructions and communications are very clear. My only caution would be to note for other travelers that this is definitely a historic, mountain property, with all the quirks and charms that go with it.

Annual Catskills trip

A great stay for ski season

Owner was very communicative and helpful. The property was exactly as described and pictured. Great location for Hunter and Windham ski season. The property is quiet and peaceful, a short drive to a variety of great restaurants. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen, cozy living room and especially the hot tub after a day on the slopes.

Fantastic Catskills Getaway

We loved staying at this old farmhouse. It felt like home. Lots of quirkiness and charm and fun artwork. There were 7 of us staying for the weekend (two couples, two teens and my mother) and we had local family come visit for a PreThanksgiving dinner. Were able to fit 11 of us around the table. The house was well stocked and the host was communicative and helpful. The stairs to the upstairs bedroom are steep so we had my mother take the downstairs bedroom due to her knee issues. The fireplace, firepit and hot tub were all great amenities. The house is stocked with many books and games and lawn toys and several puzzles that our teens put together. Supermarket and gas station are close by and the shops of Tannersville are less than 5 minutes away. The house is set way back from the road so it is very private. Beds were all comfortable. Would definitely book here again!

So cute, we came back for a second visit.

This is a charming farmhouse. We liked it so much last year, that we booked it again this year. It is set far off of the main road, so you really feel like you are in the woods - but it is very accessible to everything. Jack is a charming host.

Great Stay!

This property was perfect for a quiet holiday weekend. We stayed over Thanksgiving and the kitchen was great for preparing food. The living room with fireplace was cozy, and it was nice to have space to explore outside with our dog. I would highly recommend staying here, Jack was a great host!

Very rustic cottage with modern vibes

The house itself is very rustic and dated. Floors creak, doorways get wedged into the floor when used, old/cracking furniture, low ceilings, odd shaped rooms and quirky layout. That being said, everything worked as intended. The heating was phenomenal (we had everything set to 68 degrees and still had to open some windows in November 35 degree weather), the water pressure was good and stayed warm enough for all guests, and all appliances/amenities worked as described. The layout was awkward in that there was 1 bedroom on the main level but 2 full bathrooms. Upstairs were 3 bedrooms with 1 of them having only a sink and toilet with minimal partitions. The kitchen was stocked very well, probably better than my home kitchen. The sauna took some figuring out to turn on but heated up quickly after. The hot tub was amazing. The TV entertainment center was appreciated as well as the connection of Alexa to many of the home's lighting. It rained for the better part of our trip so many of the outdoor amenities such as the fire pit weren't able to be used. The owner was very friendly and communication was top notch. I felt familiar with the property and its inner workings before even arriving. All my concerns were addressed. The proximity to nearby Hunter mountain as well as the adjacent town while being far away from other homes is a major bonus.

A beautiful weekend getaway in the Catskills

We had a great time staying at this property. The property is very private, and we were able to relax around the fire after soaking in the lovely hot tub and sauna. Jack was very attentive to any questions, and their smart setup works quite well. The views are excellent, and the convenience and proximity to Tannersville & Hunter, while still being well back off the road, can’t be beat. The hosts provide great recommendations for the area that really helped us find fun local activities. Highly recommended!

Charming rustic farmhouse in the woods.

I wanted to be in the woods, but still close to some things to do. This property checked all the boxes, Fireplace, outdoor fire pit, grill, big kitchen, hot tub, sauna, good TV, multiple bathrooms and secluded. We felt really comfortable there.

Charming mountain getaway

This is a very old, but charming home. Perfectly located near Hunter Mountain...surrounded by amazing hiking trails, waterfalls, mountain bike trails and awesome breweries. Jack is an amazing host. The house is clean, kitchen is stocked, hot tub and sauna were clean and 100% functional. Great stay!

Mountain Retreat

Lovely farmhouse. Full of character nestled in the mountains. Well appointed, cozy and homey. Felt like visiting my aunts. Beautiful hiking. Ann and Jack very kind and responsive owners. Our dog had big field to play. Enjoyed having condiments and spices available. Just what we were looking for. Really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect Getaway

After working from home since March and staring at the same four walls all day we were desperate to get away for some peace and quiet but still with all the mod cons and that is exactly what we got. The house is lovely and photos don’t actually do it justice and Jack was so helpful and responsive (it had snowed the night before we arrived and he had cleared the road and path around the house to the hot tub and sauna to make sure everything was easily accessible when we arrived) with all the questions we had We spent a lot of time in the house, hot tub and sauna and letting the dogs run wild in the huge yard but also spent a couple of days ski-ing which was easily accessible with the closest lift only a mile up the road, and also rented snowmobiles which was fun. I also had to work one day and wifi was great. Thanks so much for everything Jack - we will be back next year for some more r&r.

Great getaway

This is a wonderful place to get away. It's a quiet peaceful property with lots of open space and for little walks behind the house. It's close to town and near many hikes. The owner was very accessible and helpful with tips on what to do and helping when I had some car trouble.

Fall hiking trip

Stayed at this property during an autumn hiking trip. The property is in a fantastic location. Close to town and not far from multiple trailheads. House was rustic but clean and enjoyable. Hot tub was clean and sauna was a nice addition.

Well outfitted and just the right rustic

We had a great experience at this rental for the weekend. Hosts were accommodating, friendly, and they went out of their way to make sure our stay was great. The hot tub, sauna, and kitchen were amazing. We'll be back in the summer for more time there.

One of my favorite rentals ever!

Accommodating, isolated, beautiful, well stocked, so much character. I want to have children one day and bring them back here. It’s close to town (5 min drive) but still isolated and gorgeous. We’ll be back!

Wonderful

My family stayed for a wonderful weekend at this house. Jack and his wife were very helpful. Perfect location near Hunter Mountain, clean and cozy place. We enjoyed a lot sauna and hot tub. We will be back.
