Welcome to Cabin with a View, a peaceful retreat in North Carolina’s scenic Black Mountains. Designed by an architect with a focus on simplicity and connection to nature, the cabin features handcrafted details and artwork by local Celo Valley artists, creating a space that feels both warm and intentional.

The heart of the home is a large stone fireplace, perfect for cozy evenings after a day spent outside. Step through the screen door onto the covered porch to enjoy cool mountain breezes, long-range views, and a rotating sky of light and clouds. Adirondack chairs offer the perfect spot to read, nap, or just take in the quiet.

The cabin sleeps six across three bedrooms and two and a half baths, with a loft space ideal for reading or watching TV. You’ll find strong Wi-Fi, a well-equipped kitchen, and a layout designed for easy, comfortable living.

Great hiking is just outside the front door — no need to drive to find beautiful forest trails, ridge walks, and peaceful paths through the mountains.

We’ll share our favorite local tips once you book, including spots to eat, explore, and relax. Whether you’re here to hike, unplug, or simply enjoy the change of pace, we think you’ll love it here.

My family stayed 8 nights over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. The cabin is beautiful and so peaceful. We hiked every day and got to enjoy the town of Burnsville as well. This is an amazing place!

Great place in the Black Mountains

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the 4th of July at Cabin with a view. Cool house with amazing views. We appreciated the local guides provided after booking and at the house. Endless outdoor fun to be had by all around the cabin or within 30 minutes drive. We will be back!

Peaceful mountain stay

The cabin/house is exactly as shown on VRBO. It is lovely and had everything we needed for a 1 week stay. It is close to markets etc and a little town (Burnsville). The last bit up the mountain to the house is steep switchbacks on gravel road (relevant for choice of vehicle). One of the owners (Susi) was super responsive and helpful. Great VRBO stay.

Very relaxing cabin

The cabin had a nice, easy flow to it. We were immediately comfortable. The long range views from the deck were amazing, and the tv loft was very comfortable. The ability to have music playing throughout the cabin via the centralized music system was a fanatastic extra that we were not anticipating!

The Perfect Escape

Thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness of this lovely place! And thoughtful touches made it so homey. Don't miss the sun rising or the 'secret' waterfall! Susi was great to work with and flexible when an extra night was needed. Will definitely be back! Thank you!

Beautiful property & wonderful hosts!

The property is just as listed. Secluded and beautifully taken care of with breathtaking views. We felt at peace from the moment we walked in. Susi was also incredibly communicative with us about the potential for ice on the roads and how that might affect our travel with young children. Her tips for the surrounding areas were also so helpful. We will be back!

This cabin is everything it is described as! We loved the amenities and the VIEW! What else can you say when you have a view that is so awesome! You cannot see another cabin; the quiet is unbelievable! We hiked for days and you couldn't exhaust the views and hikes for quite a while! Thank you Lisa for such an awesome place for us to reconnect with our family! We loved EVERYTHING about the cabin!

HOUSE+VIEW= HEAVEN

BEST place ever-so out of the way and in the woods, and you arrive and see this awesome long range mountain view. We loved seeing the cows in the field and hearing roosters, coyotes in the distance. This is a special home and we could not have been happier. Beware on your way up the mountain for some rougher roads.

Perfect

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Pictures and descriptions are accurate. Secluded, quiet and peaceful, well furnished and equipped, great fireplace, beautiful views. Property managers were prompt in replying and the whole reservation and check-in process was easy and straight-forward. The only thing that would take this up another notch is a hot tub out on the deck. :) We would definitely like to stay here again. Thanks for letting us share this wonderful cabin. We had a great, relaxing weekend.

Evacuated Hurricane Florence from the Coast to heaven!

We had to evacuate from Pine Knoll Shores, NC due to Hurricane Florence. My husband, our son, my parents, and our pets and I were thrilled to be out of harms way and in one of the most beautiful spots ever. Lisa, the owner, was unbelievably accommodating. The house was perfect. Very clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The drive up the mountain was a bit treacherous but once you do it a couple of times, you get used to it. The view is the best we've ever seen and the deck was where we spent most of our time. Thank you so much Lisa and we hope to visit again soon just for fun! My entire family thanks you for everything.

Amazing Cabin, we will be back!

We had a great stay at Cabin with a View, and will definitely be back, next time with more people! We shared the cabin between us and another couple, as well as our dog, and there was more than enough room for us all to relax and spread out. The view was amazing and the cabin was well outfitted with everything we needed, including modern appliances. Our only complaints would be there was not a lot of water pressure in the downstairs shower, and the chimney/fireplace allowed for smoke to come into the house when we had a fire going. We were able to crack an window to help mitigate the problem, but it did make us a bit uneasy with the smoke in the house that gathered in the eaves. Overall, a beautiful, well equipped, spacious cabin for a great price. We can't wait to come back!

Private Retreat

My family truly enjoyed the cabin with a view. The mountain views are beautiful, as was sunrise. There are places to hike to see the sunset too. Pictures don't do it justice. The cabin was as promised: clean, well laid out, nice fireplace and plenty of wood to burn. The kitchen was well stocked with pots & utensils. The bathrooms were big. Bedrooms provided separation. We found the privacy of the location inviting. Asheville was close enough to easily explore and we dipped down to Sapphire, Highlands Cashiers with no problem. The small towns around the cabin were also easy to get to. We got the experience we were looking for and would definitely come back again. I highly recommend this cabin.

Fabulous get away

We had a great week in our cozy mountain get away. Beautifully decorated, clean, beautiful sunrises, kitchen has quality cookware and everything we needed to prepare our meals including a dishwasher for cleanup after the meal. We only ate one meal out the entire week. A fire in the beautiful stone fireplace each evening was a favorite part of our day. Cozy loft with TV and a view of the mountains was another special place to relax and read. Lisa, the owner and Laura were prompt replying to questions. We give this our highest recommendation and hope to return during a different season. Thank you. Gary, Maggie, Mike, Joan and John Henry

Fantastic place!

We had the best stay in this house. Gorgeous inside and out. Well cared for and well-stocked. High quality bedding and furniture. Beautiful view. Peaceful. Our kids loved playing in the loft, our dogs loved running outside. We loved gazing at the view and sitting on the porch. Helpful and communicative owners.

Beautiful and secluded cabin

This is a beautiful cabin, tucked away in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. There is a well-equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs, and a large dining room table at which to eat your meals. The cabin was very clean, and all the linens and towels were nice and soft. The view from the main windows and the deck was absolutely stunning. The gravel road to get to the house is pretty steep, and our Prius had trouble with certain spots on the road. We had to change over to power mode to make it all the way up. Any car or truck with AWD should be fine though. Make sure to use Apple Maps to get there, or the directions from Shelli, but don't use Waze or Google Maps or you'll get a little bit lost. All in all it was a great stay, and we would definitely stay there again if we're ever in the area.

A Sweet Retreat!

What a fantastic location for a Valentines weekend! This is our fourth stay and this property never disappoints. Not only is the cabin beautifully appointed, the views from the cabin are breathtaking. We had every amenity we needed including a wonderful fireplace with an ample supply of firewood to chase away the winter chill. One day we awoke to a light dusting of snow that quickly melted in the sunshine. On our last night we retreated to the loft area to cheer on our favorite team for Super Bowl in a comfy setting. If you want to explore the beautiful mountains surrounding Asheville and Asheville and Biltmore Estate this cabin is a true find.

Perfect Mountain Cabin

Exactly as described, clean and excellent communication along with tons of local information and precise directions to the cabin. The views are amazing from every single window and deck. The cabin is beautiful and comfortable and perfect for relaxing. Close to many hikes. We enjoyed every minute.

In the Fall, the colors are beautiful and remind us of where we grew up in southern Ontario, Canada and Bavaria, Germany!

My husband and I bought our cabin in 2006 and immediately fell in love with the people and surroundings of the South Toe Valley. Five years later we joined with my architect sister and her husband to build this new, beautiful Cabin with a View on the neighboring property, so now more people can experience the beauty of this area. The Cabin (Elev. 3200 ft) with its astounding views of the S.Toe River Valley and the Black Mountains is within walking distance of the Pisgah National Forest. You can hike all the way to Mt. Mitchell and never get in a car!
