Would have scored more if it wasn't for the owner
After a debacle with paying the balance (owner changed bank accounts) which involved phone calls to HomeAway and messages back and forth to Ksenia, we had to cancel and rebook which changed the cost due to the exchange rate.
First impressions were brilliant, Ksenia waited at the villa for us and we landed quite late so most shops were closed. A great surprise was a little welcome pack consisting of bread, bacon, cheese, milk etc. Ksenia showed us around the villa and took a reading from the electric meter.
The villa was a good size and suited 4 adults and 2 children well and the centre of Corel Bay a 15 minute walk away. The only complaint regarding the villa was the downstairs toilet/shower. David Bowie lovers will know what I mean by "the bog of eternal stench". We had to bleach the drains twice a day but it didn't help much.
After a few days we had the displeasure of meeting Oleg who had let himself in to the villa and was trying to get into the garage from inside. Oleg was Russian and his English not brilliant, so it was difficult to understand his true meaning. At that point I found him abrupt, rude and not thankful for me going to get the garage key off my sister-in-law who was in a restaurant 15 mins away.
Oleg then persisted to be around the back of the villa for the majority of our holiday, cutting down bushes and whatever else. This brings me on nicely to the "private beach gazebo". The gazebo had gone due to a storm apparently however every time we looked down, a group of people were always there using the table and chairs. On enquiry with Oleg, we were told to tell him in advance if we wanted to use the area so that he and his friends wouldn't go down. The day we did go down Oleg could be seen peering down and as soon as we came back to the villa for tea, the table and chairs on the beach were occupied once more. Not the impression of the advert.
The next detestable experience was Oleg's departure walk-around which he was 15 mins late for. After checking every single item (plates, cups, and operation of TV, Fans etc) 40 mins had passed and we were running late for the airport. Oleg then using his rude and abrupt manor tried to get money from us for:
2 towels that weren't washed (all others had been washed & dried)
a plastic outside chair that had a break in the back but wasn't caused by us
electricity used - a made up sum as he didn't have the original reading
Loads more to say but my word count is up. Not a relaxing hol
