High Tide Hideaway, brought to you by the Heart of Cape Cod, is a beautiful dog-friendly waterfront home on Lieutenant Island that is perfect for a romantic getaway for two or the whole family. We respect the autonomy of our guests but are available by text, email, phone, carrier pigeon, smoke signal, yodeling, or Facetime. Communication with guests is important to us. Please be sure you have app notifications turned on for your phone as this will be our means of communicating with you before, during, and after your stay. Our digital guidebooks contain directions, instructions, and access information. It is your responsibility to review this information prior to arrival.

We love our neighbors! We are located at the end of a quiet, residential sandy shared drive, therefore, we do not allow parties or events at the Hideaway.

The island is accessed by a bridge and the road may become covered in water if the tide exceeds 10 feet. You will see island residents and guests pull over to the side of the road waiting for the tide to recede sometimes. Depending on how high the tide is, it may only be 30-50 minutes or so before the road is tide-free (again, it depends on the tide).

For example:

First high tide is at 2:47 am and is 10.73 ft/Second high tide is at 3:05 pm and is 10.95 ft
Residents and guests with plans at 3:00 pm would simply arrive or leave between 2:00/2:30. If they miss the window, they simply wait 30/45 minutes until the tide recedes off the road. It isn't a big deal and a part of island life. Do not drive through salt water.

We understand that things happen and plans may change so we always recommend purchasing travel insurance for your vacation.

Airbnb Guest Fee Transparency – We believe in clear pricing. We only set two things: a fair nightly rate and a set cleaning fee (what our professional team charges to clean and reset the home). Airbnb adds its own platform service fee on top of this and collects local taxes. These are not controlled or collected by us





Please note there is a beach grass barrier that holds the sand dune in place between the house and the water as shown in the pictures. You must walk a short path around the conservation plantings to avoid destruction of the dune to access the water. In other words, you can't dive off the deck into the water.
Tides are the rise and fall of ocean water levels that happen every day. They’re caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun on Earth’s oceans. The moon’s pull is stronger because it’s closer, and it causes water to bulge out on the side of Earth facing the moon and also on the opposite side.

As Earth rotates, different areas move into these bulges, which is why we get two high tides and two low tides each day. It’s like the ocean is following the moon’s lead in a giant, watery dance.
