Beautiful!

The Honua Kai buildings, location and setting are just beautiful! We have stayed at Honua Kai twice and love it there. This particular unit is large, with a lovely lanai, a view of the ocean and pools. The bedrooms and living space are very comfortable. The only thing about this unit that was a bit of a hassle was the kitchen was not stocked with any of the basics as far as spices, tupperware, foil, etc. There are plenty of dishes, utensils, a cook/bake ware. The other issue we had was that the elevator closest to our unit was out of order for all 10 days that we were there. My husband is on crutches and having to deal with the stairs was a MAJOR challenge. Even without the cooking basics, I would definitely stay here again!

Overall we had a wonderful stay at Honua Kai! Booking through KBM offered a discount versus booking directly through the result - and we got the same service. Both Alexis and Justin were friendly and helpful. The booking process was hassle-free and check-in is very easy with clear instructions about what to do. The unit was the perfect size for our family and the location couldn't be beat. Having a BBQ on the lanai was awesome so you didn't have to worry about getting down to the BBQ's early to get a "space". The amenities at the resort are great and all staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. We plan to visit Maui again (likely Honia Kai) and would book with KBM again.

The condo was perfect! The view from the lanai was overlooking one of the pools and could see the ocean. Having the private BBQ was very nice, which we used several times during our stay. The bedrooms are roomy as well as the rest of the living area. We would definitely rent this condo again!

Beautiful 2 br. unit with amazing private balcony and private BBQ. Sunset / water view is great even if just on 2nd floor. Nice view of pools and well maintained gardens as well. Can watch over the kids playing at the pool from balcony. Would rent the same type of unit (beachfront) if we come back. Higher floor would probably be a bit nicer .. but also more $$ ... No issues with KBM. Very responsive onsite and provided a smooth experience.

Perfect location, beautiful condo

This condo was amazing. Perfect location, not too much noise, easy to get to via the stairs just a few feet from the entrance. Beds were comfortable, found cookware to be adequate. SO much room for a family of four-felt like we needed a few more people in it! The lanai is the best part-somewhat private but what a view!! We used the beach chairs and boogie boards the whole vacation. Duke's was AMAZING every time we ate there. Highly recommend the takeout option, it was fast and easy. A'ina Market also had amazing food and the market on site, although expensive had a great selection. Issues we had: 1) the showers had some mold in the grout and the shower heads need to be cleaned. 2) The listing said beach towels are provided with each KBM condo but ours had NONE. This was a pain since we did not bring any with us due to that description. 3) A condo this nice, at this price point should have smart TV's. Even the most basic hotel has smart TV's these days. The cable channels were terrible. 4) Often in VRBO's you find basics like foil, saran wrap, etc. perhaps left from prior guests. This unit had none of that. We had to buy saran wrap. I hope it was left for the next guests. 5) The faucet at the kitchen sink needs to be replaced. 6) Parking in the underground garage for Konea is non-existent after 8pm so be sure to get back to the hotel early if you are worried about parking. One night we returned at 9:15 and I had to park on the far side by the other building, which is not very close by.

We were VERY pleased with our unit

I have to say that we were VERY pleased with our unit. We didn't have high expectations and the unit was actually wonderful. The dishwasher and TV's didn't work but KBM was on it and fixed the situation as quickly as they could. They were very responsive. The unit is well appointed and the beds were very comfortable, which can be hit or miss in rentals! We would stay again. Hints- take the stairs and you can exit and enter 1.5 flights down to the pools or down a bit more to parking. No need for the elevator. There is a cooler and beach chairs in the closet. The gas BBQ takes a Ling time to heat up.

Amazing

The place was amazing. It was very spacious and in very good condition. Check-in was easy and the owner was responsive and helpful. The balcony was great for relaxing outside in the nice weather. Not all units at Honua Kai have a BBQ on the balcony so it was really convenient to have one on the balcony. Great stay, highly recommend.

Unit and resort top notch, would do it again

Unit as described and pictured. In good condition with plenty of space and a nice view. 3 adults and 2 kids under 5. Could have fit a few more in there comfortably. Had extended family staying at several units in the same building and hosted dinner a couple nights for almost 17. Between the Lanai table and the dinner table in the interior, made it happen pretty comfortably. Kitchen equipment selection not bad. As you find in a short term rental, the pain point is the need to buy most of the staples (condiments, olive oil, aluminum foil, that kind of stuff) at the Hawaii premium in amounts you aren't going to use over the course of a week or so. But what to complain about with that view? KBM was reliable and did what they said. They accommodated a small request or two. They weren't willing to negotiate over an early check in or late check out to accommodate flight schedules, even when I lead with an offer to pay a very reasonable premium. While I want to gripe more about that, they have an expensive piece of property to manage and need to maximize the return to keep owners happy. Still, more ability to at least humor us there would have been appreciated. This was a big factor in keeping this incredible property closer to a 4 star range experience. The end unit and the grill is great if you like to cook and entertain. The location is fantastic with a lot of space. You can see what's happening at most of the pools and the ocean noise and views are beautiful. A few doors down from the end unit you can take the stairs down one flight and save unnecessary extra distance going all the way down the hallway and taking the elevator and then doubling back to the pools. Unfortunately the stairwell door doesn't open from the outside, so its a one-way deal. I envied the ground unit a little for their incredible access. But even just 10 feet up on the second floor, your views were improved a significantly, so pick your preference. Honua Kai is an incredible resort, and compared to those close by I didn't see one I'd prefer over it. I like to try new places, but if I came back to the Kaanapali beach area I'd have a hard time taking a risk that I'd find a resort in the area I'd like better.

We loved Konea 201! It was just as described. Being on the end of the complex gave us awesome views and we loved getting to watch the pool, palm trees and ocean all in the same view.

Perfect

We just returned last night from a week in paradise. This unit was amazing. From the time we walked through the front door until we unfortunately left one week later, it was heaven. Every day it was sunny nd in the 80s. A couple of days it was windy, but the wind is warm. We stayed with our son, daughter in law and grandson in this unit. The bedrooms are far apart and the unit is really spacious. It is the perfect layout for several people. Our friend also traveled with us but stayed in a studio. We all ate dinner together in the unit on 4 of our nights. The outdoor BBQ was great, steaks one night and hotdogs another. Breakfast on the lanai each morning. We rented gazebos 3 of the days . They are totally worth it. Only 80 for the whole day and you have shade and bar service with your own stairway into the pool. Snorkeling off the beach was great, tons of coral and fish. The beach walk was a great way to start each day. I wish we were still there. I am already planning on returning. This unit is the perfect location, really nicely maintained and has everything you need. We did a day trip to twin falls and swam in the lagoon, wow it was nice. Another day we snorkeled at Kapalua beach, the beach by honua Kai is just as good for snorkeling. Our son and daughter in law rented boards and loved the experience. Our grandson did the kids club one day, his choice and he had fun, he is 4. The best part of the vacation was hanging out at the resort. Next time we come it will be for longer. Seven days is not long enough. Again, this unit is amazing.
