Recently renovated cabin surrounded by tranquility and stunning natural beauty.
It´s just like time stands still when you stay in the quiet countryside cottage, where nature alone are playing the leading role.
From the cottage you have view over the lake "Meðalfellsvatn"
Beautiful mountain range (including Meðalfell) surrounds the lake .
The cottage is warm and with a big garden. You having relaxed night in comfortable hot tub is a good way to tread yourself after energetic day.
For 6 people you have enough space but the cottage can accommodate up to 8 people.
Kids can have fun in the garden play soccer, hot tub. You're going to feel well in the cottage with just a short distance from Reykjavik (about 37 minutes) but far enough to have true countryside experiance. The location can offer you the best seat to see playful aurora lights (without any street light pollution from the city) from oct to april in the sky just above you, sitting in the hot tub is recommanded instead of bus tour :).

Best Iceland Stay!

Our stay here was incredible! The house was easy to get to, provided very comfortable accommodations, had an easy to use entertainment system, and delivered on northern lights. Two nights in a row we were able to see the lights just out front of the house! (We could have watched from the living room windows, but we wanted to be surrounded!) We had plenty of room for 6 adults! Lilja and Bogi were very helpful and we used many of the day trip suggestions from their site! If we ever return, this will be our base camp again for sure!!

I created this trip for my brother because he wanted to come here for His bachelor party. The cabin was an amazing stay. It is a beautiful cabin with many options including games, star gazing in a hot tub, Apple t v's and netflix and every room, And a full kitchen to do our cooking. Iceland is a beautiful place to explore, And it was nice that we had a beautiful place to stay in!

Quiet Place in the Hills.

Instructions from the house owner was clear and simple. This place exceeded our expectations and we will definitely use this house again when we come back to Iceland. House owner was easy to contact, provided helpful information on surrounding areas, and overall was ready to be there for her guest at any time.

Perfect for our needs

Great cabin in quiet location. Far enough away, but not too far. Need some planning for food/supplies but owner provides excellent suggestions. Watched the northern lights from the hot tub, all amenities we needed were available. Exceptional value.

fantastic location

we had a fantastic time, the location was just what we were looking for, unfortunately we didn't get to see the northern lights but the views from the cabin were a good substitute. I would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a relaxing, picturesque setting.

Tolle Unterkunft mit extrem ruhiger Lage und guter Ausstattung!

Ich fange am besten ganz am Anfang an... Die Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin war unkompliziert (auf Englisch) und auf eine Antwort habe ich NIE länger als 24 Stunden gewartet (eher innerhalb von 12 Stunden) was wie ich finde lobenswert ist! Wenn man fragen hat kann man diese ebenfalls stellen und es wird so gut wie Möglich versucht diese zu beantworten! Die Unterkunft an sich war bei der Ankunft sauber und sofort mit einer gemütlichen Atmosphäre bekehrt! Wir sind zu 2 gereist und ein Doppelbett war auch komplett bezogen, sodass man ohne weiteren Aufwand einfach ins Bett gehen kann! In der Küche findet man zahlreiche Gewürze und nützliche Utensilien! Ausgestattet war die Küche komplett, sodass man ohne Einschränkungen los kochen kann! Weiterhin waren für uns Handtücher hinterlegt, sodass man auch keine Handtücher mitbringen muss! Die Unterkunft würde ich persönlich nicht mit mehr als 6 Personen beziehen, da es sonst wirklich recht eng werden würde. Schlafplätze wären aber für 8 Personen verfügbar! Abschließend möchte ich noch sagen, dass die Bilder welche man sehen kann zu 100 Prozent original sind! Nichts ist gefaket oder verschönert! Vielen Dank an die Vermieterin! Es war einfach großartig!

Wonderful

If you like the outdoors, this is the perfect place to stay while in Iceland. Located in a beautiful farm valley it provides rural privacy yet it is a short easy drive to Reykjavik. This a family cabin but is by no means rustic. It is spotless, tastefully decorated and has a full kitchen which is a big plus considering the cost to eat out. The view from the back of the cabin is spectacular and can be enjoyed from the hot tub. As previously mentioned, Reykjavik is easily accessible as is the Snaefellsnes peninsula. I highly recommend a day trip to this beautiful area which highlights Iceland's many natural wonders. Definitely coming back soon but next time will be for fishing. Not sure where the best fishing is but do know we will be staying here again. Thank you Lilja.

Great cottage, beautiful location, quiet, peaceful and clean

Great time at the cottage. Beautiful views house was perfect for our needs. Everything worked and was very clean. Owner very responsive when contacted. The younger one's in our party used the hot tub even in a sleet storm and had a blast in it! I would highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful cabin in beautiful surroundings!

My family of six had a fantastic stay! The cabin was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Outside of the cabin we were treated to a large deck and hot tub from which we were able to watch the Northern Lights. The views from the cabin are amazing and overlook a beautiful lake and mountains. My children enjoyed the swings and soccer nets in the backyard. The cabin is in a perfect location, just a short drive to many fun adventures, but remote enough to make you feel like you have this magical land all to yourself. Lilja and her family take pride in their cabin and it shows. She is very prompt in her responses, provides tons of helpful information and suggestions for day trips, and does everything she can to ensure a perfect visit. Thank you, Lilja, for a wonderful stay!

very nice and cozy cabin

nice secluded cabin, with good views of a lake and mountains. 2 bedrooms with one large (queen?) size bed in each, plus 2 bedrooms with single bunk beds. Hot tub was a real treat at the end of the day - just wished it stayed warmer longer once you got in. Kitchen is small but we made it work. Definitely requires some planning, like buying groceries and fuel on the way, and who is in charge of the cooking. Overall, very satisfied and would highly recommend.

Relaxing and beautiful!

We had a great time! The cabin was in the perfect location for day trips. We stayed for 7 days and it felt like home. We weren’t ready to leave! The cabin is just as nice as the pictures portray and everything we needed for cooking, laundry, showers etc were available. We especially loved the hot tub at night to relax in after our long day trips. We got a glimpse of the northern lights our last night there. Iceland is a beautiful place and we plan to come back in the summer!

Wonder cabin. Wonderful addition to our Iceland trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the cabin. The cabin was clean, comfortable, well equipped, and very peaceful. Hearing the horses and birds at night. Watching the stars. Walking on the country roads where the cabin resides seeing the horses and enjoying the streams. All added to our wonderful vacation in Iceland. The location is convenient to the sites but you get away from it all in your own space at night. Lilja is the perfect host. Always available via phone if needed. She really wants you to enjoy Iceland and her cabin. Thanks Lilja for sharing your little peace of heaven with us. We hope to return someday!

Best Cabin in Iceland

Sehr gemütliches Ferienhaus mit wunderschönem Weitblick

Das Haus liegt direkt am See mit einem wunderschönen Weitblick der uns jeden Morgen aufs neue fasziniert hat. Wir konnten die Nordlichter vom heissen Wirlpool aus bewundern einfach einzigartig. Lilja hat uns im Vorfeld viele hilfreiche Tips gegeben und das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet für jemand der gerne kocht optimal. Es ist genau richtig gelegen wenn man nicht direkt in der Stadt sein möchte, und Ausflüge zu den bekannten Sehenswürdigkeiten machen möchte, die nächsten grösseren Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind ebenfalls einfach und schnell (ca 35 min) erreichbar. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dort bleiben. Thank you very much Lilja and Family!

Beautiful Cabin, Great Location

You really can't beat watching the Northern Lights from a hot tub! The cabin was wonderfully cozy, with everything we needed for a great vacation (though definitely hit up the market!) The rooms were comfortable and the location is perfect -- easy access to many major sites (and especially the Golden Circle), but far enough away from the cities that you can really enjoy the quiet and scenery. Would 100% recommend this vacation home!
