Not up to par!

Sorry to report that in our 6th year of renting this same cottage, the cleanliness has dramatically declined. The floors, windows, and mirrors were dirty and the same gross patio furniture has not been in years. We were embarrassed to have our guests stay in this condition and ended up cleaning it ourselves!

The location is great. House was wonderful. The small beach house is rustic, but is right on the water with great views and sounds. Everyone had a great time

This is our second summer staying here. We love the house for our family of 5 with friends joining for a day or two. Plenty of bedrooms, areas for gathering and having the beach house this year was a wonderful bonus! The beach is very nice and walkable and this year there were multiple sandbars in the water to splash around in the shallow water (our favorite).My only reason for reducing stars on the location is the house sits on US23 and the primary bedroom is noisy with the windows open at night. We've been coming to the area for 40 years and owned our own cottage for 30 years so we're used to this, but others may find this to be an issue.

Family Vacation

House upon arrival was not clean. Sheets in upstairs bedrooms had not been changed for awhile. Day 1 was spent washing sheets. The garbage container was already full and overflowed into the front yard. Kathryn our PM had someone come over to empty the container and pick up the trash and in doing so, they filled up the container again. Day 4 we received an empty container. The beach house was inhabitable due to the overpowering smell of moth balls, and ants taking over, among other things. There was not a windowsill in either house that did not have a layer of dead insects in it. There is no AC and when there is no wind, it is very hot in the house.Window AC’s would make a huge difference to help with the humidity. Also, be aware the ad states guest fees may apply. Any family over 2 people will be charged a guest fee. This would be good to know up front, please include. We paid guest fees for our family of 5, and still did not have a beach house we looked forward to.Other than the guest charges, the rest of the issues could have been prevented. Note to all PM’s, you need to audit your cleaning crew to make sure they are doing more than just emptying the waste baskets. Pros Location was great 10 min drive to Tawas city. House was plenty big enough for 5. We enjoyed the beach, swimming, the lake view was wonderful and relaxing! If the house was entirely clean, and sheets were fresh I would consider coming back in cooler months. They did discount 200 for the mouse issue.

Dear Ranee: We are very sorry about the issues that you experienced. Relative to the issues that you mention: 1) The bedsheets were absolutely clean and recently washed. We are very sorry if it appeared that was not the case. 2) We have contacted the trash company and we now have 2 rolling bins in place to support trash at the property. 3) The property has now been professional treated for pests and we believe that the pest issue is now resolved. 4) There is a fee for each guest after the first 2 guests, but this is clearly shown when making a reservation. The fee is not hidden at all. Again, we are very sorry about the issues. Apart from the guest fee issue, we believe all of the issues that you mention have now been addressed. Thanks again for the feedback!
