Between hanging out and exploring our 900 acres full of trails, ravines, rest areas, breathtaking vistas and resting areas, and all that Glen Rose has to offer, you will have plenty to do!

Habari is the original and largest of our ranchā€™s four guest houses. Habari has had a rich history, starting out as the ranch managerā€™s quarters, then as overflow rental for Fossil Rim (your host owned and grew Fossil Rim for some 20 years!) and our ranch staff.

Habari is close enough to the county road for quick trips to Fossil Rimā€™s Overlook and into Glen Rose, but far enough off the road for quiet and solitude.

Habari is a great starting point to explore our ranch's trails and ravines. Habari (ā€œHello! How are you? You are Welcome Here!ā€ in Swahili) is a ā€œcozy but elegantā€ (as one guest said!) ranch style house with:
ā€¢ 20 miles of fossil-laden trails to explore on our organically and sustainably managed Ranch and Sanctuary.
ā€¢ Habari is located just a short walk away from our NEW farm store! We offer rainbow pasture eggs, fresh produce, USDA grass-fed ground beef, garden salsa, balm jellies, and more!
ā€¢ A short walk to see our goats and their guard donkey. Join us for goat feeding and ask about our other farm animals!

It is easy to get lost at Habari, lost in thought, lost in time, lost from stress and the city life! All of this in our little slice of the Hill Country, just 90 minutes south of the Dallas-Ft Worth area! Wonderful catching up with friends

This was the first opportunity since COVID for us to get together with a few other families that we see yearly. It was a great place to stay and it had room for all of us. There was many thing we were able to do on the property (hiking, feeding the goats) and there was plenty of space for the kids to run around in the fresh air. We were also only 15 to 20 minutes away from many attractions (Fossil Rim, Dinosaur Valley State Park, Paluxy Heritage Park, Big Rocks Park) and eating (Loco Coyote, Hammonds BBQ). It was a lovely and we wish we could have stayed longer.

Perfect for our Family

The Habari house with 5 bedrooms was perfect for our 3 families. We enjoyed the beautiful country setting by sitting out on the porch and having a fire in the fire pit for our smores. Jeff was very thoughtful for stopping by to ask our grandson to ride down with him to feed the cows. A great stay for us!

Our stay was great....Only minus was the listing stated there was a hot tub at the property....just understand there are 3 houses on this property and only 1 of them has a hot tub. The listing isn't clear on this matter.

Nice country getaway spot

It was a fun and relaxing getaway for our family of 7. The land, house and location helped us foster our family's love of nature. The front porch was perfect for coffee and breakfast in the morning. The view was beautiful. We went a few hikes around the property. Our children favorite things about staying at the house were the interesting rooms and feeding the goats and Zoey the donkey. We hope to come back again some day.

Beautiful and relaxing

This is a great ranch, one of my favorite places in Texas! Really amazing! This was our second time here and we plan to come back again. We enjoyed the nice views, hiking, bird watching, or just sitting on the porch. Kids loved to feed the goats and the cave! The property manager, Sandy, is a very nice person and gave us lots of information. We were lucky that we could even participate in a yoga class on one morning . Habari house was perfect for 2 families!

The perfect place

We had a wonderful visit. This is the perfect place for family gatherings. We enjoyed nature walks, seeing cows and goats and the beautiful stars at night. There 14 of us and the house was perfect with plenty of beds for sleeping.

Family Thanksgiving 2019

This amazing property is a gem. 8 adults & 3 kids were able to explore the vast nature this property has to offer. The house was big enough to for our family to have privacy when desired. Lots of room to encourage interaction with music, games and just relaxing. The plus was NO TV but internet if you needed it. Big porches allowed people to sit outside if it rained. Definitely recommend.

Friends and fun

The house has a very "homey" comfortable vibe in a somewhat remote peaceful setting. Was perfect for a group of friends or family enjoying downtime, sitting on the porch and watching the deer, fishing in one of the ponds or hiking and running on trails around the property.

Beautiful, clean, well maintained, comfortable beds, nice kitchen and grill

The house was perfect for our extended family. The house was very clean and my 85 year old parents slept well. The ranch is quiet and a great place to relax. We played games, went to fossil rim and feed a giraffe, horseback riding, so many great activities in the area. We will come back again. The people at the ranch made us feel like part of the family.

Great place with lots to do! We had 5 families (all with kids) staying at Habari and it fit all of us perfectly. The trails were fun and just staying at the house was great. Gigi was a great help when we got lost! Would definitely stay here again!
