The fully equipped kitchen makes it easy to feel at home, featuring a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, and all the cookware, dishes, and utensils you’ll need. A washer and dryer, along with basic cleaning supplies, are also available for longer stays or added convenience.

One of the most unique aspects of Stucco Casa is its traditional adobe construction, a building style used in the San Luis Valley for generations. The thick earthen walls naturally regulate temperature, keeping the home cool during the summer and warm in the winter, perfect for our high-desert climate. Ceiling fans throughout the home add to the comfort, and with our mild mountain summers, air conditioning typically isn’t needed.
Step outside into the spacious backyard, where you’ll find fruit trees, a picnic table, outdoor seating, and a grill. Depending on the season, you may even be able to enjoy fresh apricots, plums, or chokecherries right from the yard. It’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring, whether you’re enjoying a quiet morning coffee or a relaxed evening under the valley sky.
Stucco Casa is also conveniently located just about 5 minutes from the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Just outside of town, you’ll find world-class fly fishing, excellent fall hunting, hiking, and off-roading opportunities. Nearby highlights include the Lobatos Bridge Outdoor Classroom, as well as Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, located near Sand Dunes Recreation Hot Springs Pool just north of the dunes.
With so much to see and do in every direction, Stucco Casa is the perfect home base for exploring the San Luis Valley.

Sobre o anfitrião
Anfitrião: Tegan Welsch-Rainek
Hi, my name is Tegan, and my husband’s name is Paul. I’ve been living in Antonito for around 16 years, and Paul was born and raised here. We’ve both been in hospitality for over 15 years and also own the 1911 Steam Train Hotel here in town. When we’re not working, we love exploring the valley, hiking, fishing, off-roading, and taking scenic photos. We’re always happy to share recommendations on places to explore throughout the San Luis Valley. I’m also an apprentice gardener with CSU Extension, do educational speaking on plants, enjoy volunteering with local organizations, and serve on the Antonito town board.
Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade
Antonito is a tight-knit community of around 500 people, which is something we really love. It has that small-town feel where people know each other, but it’s also a great base for exploring the area. We’re just about a 5-minute drive from the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, which brings a lot of history and charm to the town.
The neighborhood is also conveniently located close to everything you might need, there’s a grocery store, dollar store, restaurants, and a gas station all nearby. Plus, we’re just a few houses over from Cano's Castle, which is a really unique and fun local landmark to check out.
What we enjoy most is the quiet, relaxed pace of life here, along with how easy it is to step outside and experience the beauty of the San Luis Valley.
O que faz essa propriedade ser única?
Stucco Casa is a traditional adobe home, reflecting the style of many early settlements in southern Colorado and the San Luis Valley. Adobe building dates back hundreds of years in this region and was used by Native communities and later Spanish settlers because it works so well in our high-desert climate. The thick earthen walls naturally regulate temperature, keeping the home cool in the summer and warm in the winter, which is one of the reasons these homes have stood the test of time.
The property also features a large backyard with multiple fruit trees. If you visit at the right time of year, you may be able to pick fresh apricots, plums, chokecherries, or enjoy the beautiful yellow roses in bloom. We’ve set up outdoor furniture, chairs, a picnic table, and a grill, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the valley.
