The "Sandbox" is a lovely 3 bedroom cottage only 187 steps away from beautiful Popham Beach which offers tidal pools, islands, lighthouses, over three miles of sandy beach, and two old stone forts for you to explore.

The cottage accommodates six guests with sleeping arrangements consisting of two traditional bedrooms (a queen bed in one and two twins in the other) and a full sized bed located in our stunning enclosed sleep porch.

The "Sandbox" is nestled in the historic quaint community of Popham Village. You will enjoy strolling, fishing, swimming, hiking and collecting sea shells along the beach. If hungry you can walk only 5 minutes down to Spinney's restaurant to enjoy an oceanside breakfast, lunch, dinner OR ice cream. (Spinney's has a new owner this year, menu TBD)

The cottage has internet, games, puzzles, a propane griddle, a DVD library and a gas fireplace for those foggy coastal nights when you just want to stay in and relax. The large sunroom is not only a coveted sleeping and napping area, but, a great spot to relax, play games or simply listen to the ocean.

This was a very comfortable cottage. My son and his family stayed in it and they loved it. It has a wonderful yard for the kids to play in while the parents were busy and it was close to the beach. They enjoyed the games and the books.

The Sandbox is a gem of a property. Very clean, comfortable and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and plenty of room for kids and dogs, inside and out. Lynn and Ben could not be friendlier or more helpful. I would love to have them as neighbors.We loved every minute of our stay and hope to return.

We have been guests at The Sandbox for the last few years. Our grandkids call it 'Our Tradition'. Cozy cottage, great yard and truly a short walk to the beach. Lovely neighborhood where we ride bikes and access to wharf, Spinney's and the fort are added bonuses.

Popham Stay

Overall, the property was lovely and comfortable. Ben & Lynn were responsive & checked in. The Mosquitos were bad but that would be the case anywhere. The porch allowed us to enjoy the outdoors, view the birds, etc. Highly recommend the property, although I would caution that the 3rd bed was on the porch but didn’t have shades on the windows & didn’t offer privacy. I would not consider, it as a 3rd bedroom. It was made up & looked comfortable for an afternoon nap, on the porch. Definitely, would return!

A beautiful time of year!

Glorious sunny days, fewer insects, cool nights in late summer. Nice dipping in the ocean. Walks on the beach. Just a very relaxed time. Nice neighbors!

We have been enjoying this house for years. Lynn and Ben are welcoming hosts. Road in had a lot of potholes and due to rain they were full of water. A mess....not Lynn or Ben's fault.

very chill and close to the beach!

We loved our days at Popham Beach. The house was the perfect size for our family, our dog was happy, and the beach access was phenomenal. The only dissapointment was that we couldn't enjoy the outdoor dining area or the deck because it was super buggy -- but that's how it goes some times! We loved the rental and hope to be back.

Family Tradition

We have stayed at Lynn and Ben's Sandbox annually for four years. The cozy cottage has a wonderful yard for playing games and hanging out. The small neighborhood is quiet and friendly. The kids love to ride their bikes in the neighborhood and as a family we ride to fort, Library, and Spinney's for ice cream. We enjoy the board games and cards . We spend most of our time at the beach which is truly a short walk down the path. We enjoyed fishing, surfing, and boogy boarding. When tide goes out there are fun pool like areas that the kids love to play in. We love vacationing here and look forward to our home away from home!

Great Stay

2nd summer

We have had two great stays! 2023 and 2024. The hosts are friendly, quick to respond to questions or concerns. Coming with children it is so convenient to have the house “stocked” with beach and normal home essentials. We packed less the second year! We love that it is pet friendly so our dogs are able to vacation with us.

Great family vacation

The whole family enjoyed our stay. The weather was good and we went to the beach every day and we walked to Spinney's for dinner one night. The property was as advertised - clean, comfortable, and a short walk to the beach. Thanks so much!

Popham Beach

This house is wonderful! We are able to bring our dogs and it is only a few hundred feet from the beach. In the summer it does get pretty hot inside and I know it’s common to not have AC in a beach cabin so if you want to stay cool make sure you bring your own AC units. Otherwise the house is very cute & sweet inside and we’ve been coming here for 4 years now and have never had any issues! Thanks again!

Great stay!

This house was perfect for families! It was so convenient to have the property stocked with everything from kitchen essentials, games, linens, and outside/beach gear. Even though we had planned ahead an brought a lot of things we thought we would need (for beach/outside) it was nice to have the back up of more to pick from!

Sandbox Love!

We found the Sandbox a few years ago and now have made it our annual summer vacation location. Lynn and Ben love their property and they also love sharing it with others. We are grateful. The cottage, the yard, the location to the ocean--- we love it all!

I am a Maniac. Born in Portland, and summered in Bar Harbor where both my Parents were born. I have lived in the Vermont, San Francisco and the Florida Keys but, Maine is where I now call home. I love the smell of the salt air, the endless adventures to the small seaside villages and the abundance of festivals, craft fairs and outdoor activities.

Popham Beach is such a magical place on the Midcoast of Maine. The beach has soft clean sand with PLENTY of room to spread out your blanket and have a quiet day relaxing and watching the abundant wildlife. The history of Popham is fascinating from colonial settlements to ship building. And, the proximity to Freeport, Portland, Boothbay makes day tripping a breeze!

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

This cottage is nestled on a one acre lot only 1-2 minute walk to the beach. It is wonderful to have the amenity of strolling, swimming and fishing however, getting away at the end of the day and sitting on the porch listening to surf at a private cottage is the best of both worlds.
