Looking for peace and quiet?

Country living, safe and cozy with private entrance and patio. This is the perfect destination for easy access to all of Central Florida's attractions (both natural and man made) plus the serenity and security of life in a country home. This is a daylight basement apartment with a private entrance and patio with table & chairs, custom built rocking chairs, grill and extra storage. The setting is lovely, with a view of large oaks, pastures, and wild plum trees that bloom in the early spring. If you look closely you might see deer, quail and gopher turtles. The apartment is a well planned 900 square feet with fully equipped kitchen, dining area, two small bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and washer and dryer. The bedroom has a queen size bed and large closet. The second bedroom contains a daybed. The living area has a comfortable couch, recliner and loaded bookcase plus flat screen TV, and wireless internet access. All linens are provided.. Professional house cleaning may be arranged at $20.00 per visit. This is a five acre property so there is ample room for RV and/or boat parking. RV hookup available for separate fee.

The home owners live on the property in a separate dwelling and are available to handle any requests or problems.
NOTE: We have had a very successful six years as a vacation rental and have made many new friends. The main part of this house was converted from
a long term rental to a furnished vacation rental in summer 2018. This is a very charming old country farm house with a large porch. See listing #1418295/ We have also completed renovations on a small cottage on the same property and started renting it March 2019. See listing #1576786. This is the first "snowbird" season in which all three rentals are occupied and it has worked out very well. Our renters can be as private as they wish or socialize with other renters and us.

We enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean, quiet and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the porch with its peaceful view. The location was convenient to the Sanford, Mt. Dora area. There are golf courses close by. We plan on coming back again. The owners were friendly and very helpful. Great place to stay and get away from the cold winters.

Lovely place, gracious hosts

This lovely apartment served as my home away from home for two weeks. I had everything I needed plus Jim and Beth, my hosts, who were ever so gracious making sure I had everything I needed during my stay. There was even coffee for my first morning, a special blessing since I arrived so late the night before and could not make a grocery trip. The apartment is clean and comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen are modern and well-equipped. I would certainly recommend this place for any reason that would bring you to the area. Thank you again Jim and Beth.

Quiet serene and lively cottage in the country. Very relaxing and just a short drive away from quaint towns in the area. Beth and Jim are very down to earth and very welcoming. Feel we have made friends for life. We stayed here for a few weeks until our home was ready. Love the area!

A wonderful "get away" to a home away from home.

We were in dire need of a base in Central Florida to be able to closely follow our new home during construction. We found the best apartment in Eustis/Mount Dora with absolutely wonderful landlords. Beth and Jim are fantastic, committed to making your stay comfortable and "worry free". We spent two great months with them through the Christmas season and they welcomed us to their family. They have become close friends and we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with them. Should you ever have the need to travel to the Mount Dora/Eustis are you should take the opportunity to stay with Beth and Jim Byrd, you will leave with great memories. However, you should contact them soon because they are in demand.

Wonderful Private, Pet-friendly retreat!

Great country place to come home to after busy days of exploring Lake County and environs! The Atlantic ocean beaches and the Gulf were both only about an hour away! Ocala National Forest?...just under a half hour. Peaceful yard outside the door, room enough for your dog to play frisbie. Beth & Jim are wonderful, and made sure our 3 month stay was comfortable. Great people & great place!

County Living

Elizabeth and Jim were wonderful hosts. They both made my husband and I feel very welcome, along with our two dogs. The apartment was exactly as described on the web site, clean, nicely furnished with a very homey feel. The property was very peaceful and private. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. We would have booked for next year, but it was already taken. We give this rental property and our hosts 5 stars.

Couldn't Have Asked For More!!!

My husband and I visited Florida to decide whether we wanted to become snow birds or find a permanent home to buy. We were very fortunate to find this listing in Eustis. From the time of our arrival to the time of our departure we were made to feel at home. The apartment was very clean and neat and had everything needed to make our stay enjoyable. Beth and Jim treated us like family, making sure all our needs were met while maintaining our privacy. We enjoyed setting on the porch, on rocking chairs drinking our morning coffee while enjoying the peaceful country scenery. We couldn't have been more satisfied with our stay. If we could give more than 5 stars we would. We highly recommend this rental. We did find a home to buy in Eustis.

This place is the best!!!!!

I have had the opportunity to stay at this property for over 3 months while on a work assignment in Florida and am very sad to leave it. There is not enough good things to say about it or the landlords. It is an immaculate property with any and everything you need for a short or long term stay. The location is wonderful. Centrally located to everything from historic Mount Dora to both coasts. The property has a charming country atmosphere and is wonderfully pet friendly. I could feel myself relax the moment I drove up on the quiet serenity surrounding the apartment. The landlords, Jim and Beth, quickly became extended family but also gave me all the privacy I could want. They are wonderful people and a joy to get to know. You can not go wrong staying here and will find yourself hating to leave and hoping to return. So if you are on the fence about a rental this one is an outstanding choice. I felt so safe and secure and away from things I seldom even locked the door unless I was going to be gone overnight. Once I leave Florida I hope to come back periodically and this will definitely be a preferred destination if it is available. Choose the gem with confidence you will love it.

Glad we stayed here

We stayed here for 3 months looking for a home. Only need to bring clothes! The kitchen utensils were nice quality, comfortable couch and nice to have washer and dryer included. The size of this apartment fit our needs. Location perfect, 5 minutes from shopping. We enjoyed the porch looking out to the field. The owners are super, available any time and respected our privacy.

Home Away from Home

This is a beautiful, comfortable, country property! While we were going through the stress of moving and searching for a home to purchase, we truly felt at home in this clean, sweet setting and felt taken care of by the owners. It was very private but the owners were always available to answer questions. We'd come back anytime!

When we talked to Beth about booking their rental, she said if you see it you won't want to stay anywhere else. She was right. It is in the country, but close to shopping, restaurants or anything you need. There was plenty of room, full kitchen, nice living room and bedrooms, bathroom. You have your own washer/dryer. Very clean, and peaceful, and the landlords are the nicest people you will ever meet. We will stay there everytime we go to Florida.

Quiet getaway... a little bit of heaven!

Property, location, and owners were all superb! Nice and clean and very accommodating. Unfortunately for other reasons, unable to rent but a lovely option. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy life... look no further. Was willing to allow 2 adult golden retrievers too... perfect location for our four-legged friends!

Great Florida country escape

This is a great cottage for a get-away or longer term. Everything you need is there in a quiet country setting but only 10-12 minutes from town. Close to Mount Dora too. The owners, Jim & Beth, are so gracious and are there to assist you with anything. Very accommodating.Property is as described & very clean. Lovely setting and very comfortable. We will be back! My name is Elizabeth Byrd. When people ask me how a 'girl' from Seattle ended up in Central Florida, I say, 'the usual reason..a man!' My husband, Jim, a Miami native, and I met in Seattle. When we decided to move to Florida, we chose Lake County for its beautiful lakes (I can live without mountains but not water), climate, and accessibility to large cities without having to live in one. I discovered right away that sunshine is addictive!
Our children are all grown with their own families. Three live in Lake County (one next door) and one out of state. I have lived in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, North Carolina and Texas. When it come to work, we have both worn a lot of hats! For me... teacher, debate coach, bookkeeper, artist. For Jim... excavation and paving, home builder, wood craftsman and furniture maker and equipment sales. Now we mostly devote our time to property maintenance and keeping our renters happy.

When I first saw this property 30 years ago with its two old houses, I felt like I had come home --which is a pretty far stretch for a city girl! It was perfect for us with its front house for us, a shop for my husband, and the back house for my mother-in-law.
After her death, we turned her home into a rental.
The main part of the house was rented by one person for many years but is now a vacation rental. In 2013 we started renting the downstairs apartment as a furnished seasonal rental. It was a great decision! We have made many new Snowbird friends. We have had several long term rentals to couples who were house hunting in Florida. We have also hosted individuals doing business in he area for short periods of time. We live on the property in the front house, so we are here to make your stay as pleasant as possible. O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

Did you ever watch 'This Old House?' Well we have two of them. The front house was built in 1924 and the back (rental) house was built in 1935. Like many others in Lake County, the property was originally an orange grove. No orange trees left, but we have lots of beautiful old oaks. Living here keeps us in touch with times gone by when life moved at a slower pace and you took time to watch the breeze ruffle the ferns and smell the roses!
