Holly Cottage is the perfect destination; for couples, a romantic short break, a completely relaxing holiday or a fabulous outdoor experience with walking and cycling at your doorstep. In the charming village of Ellastone in the Derbyshire Dales and with easy access to the Peak District, the Staffordshire Moorlands and beautiful countryside beyond.

You will stay in a totally refurbished 17th century cottage which offers a cosy retreat with all the modern luxuries needed for 21st century living. There is dedicated off-road parking for 2 cars right at your door, along with a seating area for alfresco dining.

Our local pub The Duncombe Arms serves superb food and is only a short stroll along the lane from Holly Cottage.

We are pleased to welcome one small well behaved dog, at a small additional charge of £25

Close to the Limestone Way, Tissington Trail, Dovedale and the Manifold Valley.
Alton Towers is only 3 miles away, so you can arrive there early and beat the crowds.

For shopping the delightful market town of Ashbourne is easily accesible.

Very comfortable and clean with everything you need catered for.The surrounding area is relaxing and restful with friendly neighbours. Also Michele is nearby shold you need her which was great to know.

This is Tissington Hall. The surrounding village is worth a visit, it's approx 20 minutes drive from the cottage.

Holly Cottage

Lovely, tiny cottage in a beautiful village. Cottage was immaculately clean with very obvious attention paid to the small details. Michele is a friendly, welcoming host and met us at the cottage with the keys. We were visiting relatives in the area and are already looking forward to our next Holly Cottage visit next year.

A cosy cottage hideaway

Lovely cottage away from the hustle and bustle. A cosy retreat for 2 wirh a gastro pub within walking distance. It is a good location for visiting Alton towers and Ashborne. An imposing church is on the doorstep which peals its bells on Sunday mornings and is a treat to wake up to. The cottage has all the equipment for cooking and all home comforts and is kept very clean and tidy. The host is very accomodating and considered all the guests needs iwhen furnishing and equipping this cody cottage. This is our second stay here so that speaks for itself.

A lovely, beautifully situated cottage.

Highly recommended: A clean, comfortable, well-decorated cottage with all mod cons, situated on the doorstep of The Peak District. Michele made sure to meet us there to hand us the key & see us comfortably settled.

Peaceful Retreat

Everything you needed for a relaxing comfortable stay for 2. All the essentials provided, lovely and clean, comfy bed, a quiet village setting. You could see all types of birds in the neighbouring garden including chaffinch, goldfinch, nuthatch to name a few, look through the opposite window and see field mice scurrying along and in-between the garden brick work. Thoroughly recommend if you want to get away from it all.

Hi. I'm Michele and I have owned Holly Cottage for a number of years, running it as a bespoke holiday let since 2013. I love to welcome guests to share our beautiful countryside, with amazing walks, great pubs and quirky local villages (and we are only 2.5 miles from Alton Towers theme park).

Holly Cottage was totally refurbished in 2012. Previously it had been semi-derelict and used as a garage and store room since 1967. We have tastefully and sympathetically brought it up to the very high standards expected by our guests. The tiled floor downstairs features underfloor heating, which makes the lounge cosy on the coldest of days. Our fully fitted kitchen provides everything that you need during your stay, including a full sized cooker, a dishwasher and a washing machine incorporating a tumble drier. We have hand made oak door throughout the property, and solid oak floors upstairs. The bathroom features a free-standing, double ended bath tub for a long relaxing soak, along with an electric shower for alternative bathing.
