Indulge in the splendor of majestic Lake Superior in this very private, four season, lakefront retreat immersed in nature. New cottage refresh April 2024 including new paint (walls and ceiling) and new vinyl plank flooring throughout. The spacious open concept design and large windows allow you to relish in the gorgeous view of Mink Bay and surrounding cliffs. Enjoy the convenience of a kitchen with basic sundries and a washer & dryer for longer stays. Pamper yourself in the hot tub after a day of hiking/snowshoeing the scenic trails and enjoy the stars...they shine brighter here! Please read our cancellation policy thoroughly before proceeding with booking your stay. Visit our Insta page at loonsnestonsuperior for the latest pictures and video content! Please note that VRBO requires us to disclose the location and coverage of our security camera in this description. We have one actively recording outdoor security camera to monitor the driveway / shed at the cottage.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay! The cottage was clean, comfortable and well stocked. Loved the lake view and having the hot tub steps away from the bedroom. Brian was AMAZING! His response time to any question or concerns we had was lightning fast! Great place to stay for family, friends weekend or romantic get away.

Very cozy and warming home ! Everything was ready to use and clean, enjoyed a nice fire with the beautiful views. Adventured two different mink mountain trails that the owners provided in their maps and everything was breath taking.

This extremely clean, beautifully decorated home on lake Superior was a pleasure to stay in! Everything that was needed was provided for an enjoyable stay, and the details were contained in a manual for the hot tub, electronics, and heating system. We loved our stay! The hot tub is clean and we really enjoyed relaxing on the deck after hikes; this is a real gem.

We had a wonderful time at Loon’s Nest! We wanted a place where we could connect as a family before we left our eldest at Lakehead - and this was perfect! The kitchen and bathroom were well appointed, the hot tub sparkling clean and the view was perfect. Lots of board games to play and comfortable places to sit. It is 45min away from the University so it feels like a true getaway! Brian was a great and communicative host!

Beautiful cabin and yard. Beautiful view of Lake Superior. Only a 40 minute drive into Thunderbay. Only saw one black bear. Very quiet and relaxing. I highly recommend. Brian is amazing as a host and communicator. I will absolutely come back. Thank you Brian, and Catheine

Our Lake Superior Tour

We really picked the perfect place to experience a taste of the north shore of Lake Superior. At Loon's Nest we immediately felt able to unwind and enjoy this great setting. The starlit skies were 5 stars. This cottage has everything you could need and all the extras. I loved sitting on the chaise chair with the most luxurious blanket around me. Morning coffee looking out at the water was the best feeling. The area is safe, away from Thunder Bay, but close enough to visit. It is nice that there are other homes close by, but you feel absolutely secluded with total privacy. Loon's Nest is a gem!! Look no further, this is just as great as it appears. Lots of value in what you experience here.

Honeymooning @ The Loon's Nest!

The Loon's Nest was exactly what we needed. They have thought of everything, very well decorated and supplies for anything you could possibly need. Hot tub was fabulous and breathtaking views of Lake Superior. We saw a fox, many birds, and a bear twice! He ran across the driveway and across the lawn while we were walking down to the water! 10/10 would definitely stay again. Brian was very easy to communicate with and check in/out was seamless. Thanks for a beautiful stay!

Illinois to Canada

This cabin was absolutely perfect for our trip to Canada!! The entire process from booking until the time we left, was seamless! The owner responded quickly and went above and beyond to answer my (many) questions! When we arrived, we could not believe how amazing the view from the back deck was. Breathtaking really! So serene and relaxing out there too. All of the amenities were perfectly described and came in incredibly handy being a ways away from any shopping/dining options. The hot tub was icing on the cake! When the temperature dipped lower of an evening, that was where we spent our time! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your little slice of heaven for a few days! If we come back, we would absolutely stay here again!

A slice of paradise

My partner and I had an amazing stay at The Loon’s Nest on Lake Superior. We had time to reconnect with nature and each other. It was as if time slowed down. Our hosts were extremely professionally and organized and provided detailed instructions for how to best enjoy our stay. The property was extremely clean and the kitchen well equipped. We would not hesitate to revisit the property and hope to do so soon.

Excellent Host

Our stay at Loon’s Nest was exceptional. Our host Brian was very informative and helpful and gave suggestions about places to see. We had everything we needed and there wasn’t anything lacking in the kitchen, bathroom or outdoors. The hot tub was an added bonus. We would highly recommend these accommodations to anyone.

Short and Sweet

we did not get to stay long, but it was great. Hot tub was perfect for the cool days and nights. Fire ring kept us warm while we looked for the Northern Lights. 30 minutes from Thunder Bay, so you can get your city needs and then retreat to the wilds of Lake Superior.

Christmas getaway

My partner and I stayed here during the holidays this year. The property was very clean and well kept, inside the property was absolutely stunning. It was so beautifully decorated and impeccably clean as well as well stocked with pretty much anything you may need during your stay. The hottub was so relaxing and clean. The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly. We will absolutely be making another getaway here. It was perfect

The Ultimate Luxury Stay

This cabin was meticulously clean and beautifully decorated. It has everything..hot tub, 2 fire pits, and a beautiful view of Lake Superior. The owner was easy to work with and checked in via text to see how everything was going. The location of this cabin is fantastic too—it’s close to hiking trails. We will be back!!! DEFINITELY

The View, View, View!!!

The decor and the view makes this a very inviting cottage! The hot tub was a real treat! The host also had other thoughtful touches. The beautiful farm table was perfect for eating and evening card playing. It is convenient to have Mink Mountain Trail down the road. Gorgeous lookout but steep trail. Wear hiking boots! Saw a red fox and a loon on Mink Bay. This is a great place for sunrise and moon photos! We are so happy that we chose to stay here rather than in Thunder Bay. Tranquil. In summary, it's the VIEW, VIEW, VIEW!!!

We loved it here! The house is cute and cozy with a great view.

This house is a little off the beaten path which was exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable and cozy and accommodated my family of 5 with a nice patio and outdoor sitting area. All the comforts of home with extra touches to make it feel more like a vacation ! Great host with fantastic recommendations!

Fabulous

We (family of four with 9 and 14 year old children)had a great stay at the loon's nest. The location is stunning and the cottage exactly as described, spotlessly clean with everything in great condition. In addition to the hot tub, we really appreciated the super comfortable beds (including the sofa bed!) fast internet, big screen TV and the fire pit. Brian is a great host too and very good communicator. Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at the Loon's Nest on Superior! The charming cottage exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we stepped in, it was clear how well-maintained and spotlessly clean the cottage was. The three nights we spent there were filled with warmth, comfort, and quality time with family. The cottage was impressively equipped with everything we needed, making our stay incredibly convenient. Furthermore, the host's responsiveness and ease of communication made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Any questions or requests were met with swift and friendly assistance, ensuring that our stay was smooth and stress-free. Swimming, hot tubing, hiking. We can't wait to return to this perfect getaway and create more wonderful memories. A true 5-star gem!

A gorgeous lakefront property on spectacular north shore of Lake Superior. And yes we do have lake access right out front so you are welcome to bring your water toys, go for a quick dip if you are brave or just sit on the shore and enjoy the view. We are located approximately 45 minutes from the Thunder Bay Airport (YQT) and the city of Thunder Bay proper. To our American guests, our cottage is 45 minutes (30 miles) from the Pigeon River Border Crossing and 5 1/2 hours (330 miles) from Minneapolis/Saint Paul
