Back in the 19th century wealthy people in New York and Boston would throng, by steamship, to the cool, clean restful Maine coast for the summer. They called it rusticating. The Lookout Inn was a resort built for rusticators, and over the years has expanded to include a number of cottages – including the Boulders.

The resort is as popular today as it has always been. At the end of a quiet peninsula, it has a quintessentially Maine feeling. A long rocky, but walk-able beach surrounds a large open field. Views in every direction are spectacular. The ocean water of Jericho Bay surrounds the peninsula and is dotted with islands. One is even close enough to walk to at low tide!
