One bedroom apartment in a historic 1924 home situated in the beautiful Berkeley hills. This flat is newly renovated and includes a full kitchen, completely equipped with granite counter tops, microwave, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. The bedroom has Bay views, with a queen-size bed. The living room/dining room has stunning views of the bay, a large deck, television and gas fireplace. New wood floors were recently installed. Includes washer/dryer. A sofa bed in the living room accommodates additional guests. It is also possible to open up an additional bedroom for occasional visitors. Cable, WiFi and all utilities included. One bathroom is adjacent to the kitchen and for the exclusive use of the guests. It was remodeled just this winter. New wood floors were also laid this winter.

Apartment is a 15 minute walk to Berkeley's gourmet ghetto (home to Chez Panisse, The Cheese Board and excellent shopping), 5 blocks from University of California and the Theological Seminary and a 25 minute walk from Downtown Berkeley. 2 blocks from a bus to downtown BART. Additional amenities include a beautiful garden with Meyer lemons, figs, persimmons, roses.... Really an idyllic haven, easy on-street parking and access to an adjacent 2nd bedroom and bath as needed.

Beautiful historic house. Lovely porch and views downhill to the Bay. Did not cook but kitchen area looked clean and adequate. Bed was very comfortable. Living area very nice and tasteful. Downtown retail is walkable if you don’t mind the steep hill back up to the apartment.

The perfect place

I think this was our fourth stay in the appointment at La Loma Avenue. It is always a pleasure to stay with Susan and Greg. Their hospitality and friendlyness really makes it a great place to stay. You can walk to the university, to great shopping and cafes (eg Cheese Board!). And the view to the Bay is amazing! I hope that we will get the opportunity to return in the future.

Contemplative Stay in the Berkeley Hills

Quiet, welcoming apartment with lots of privacy. Well appointed kitchen, nice bathroom, bedroom, sitting room AND a private covered deck. The view during the day and at night were exquisite. Very friendly owners who have thought of everything to make your stay thoroughly enjoyable!

Weekend stay at Berkeley

We were visiting Berkeley to meet our son. The apartment was great for two of us with lovely views of the bay. It had all the facilities we needed. It is about half an hour walk to downtown which we enjoyed. The kitchen was well equipped. Our stay was very comfortable.

Great view and responsive hosts

We had a great view over the East Bay from the living room when it didn't rain. When VRBO did not send us directions and access information in a timely manner, the host communicated with us immediately.

A fantastic view

This property worked well for my wife and I as we came out to visit our daughter. First time in the area and your mountaineering driving experience is put to the test. Berkeley Hills has some nice homes and this is one of them. We really enjoyed the back deck and its view. We loved the gardens and being surrounded by trees. The home offered all we needed as we were out and about for the day. We experienced unseasonably warm temperatures and the only downside was that it was quite hot inside without air conditioning. First world problems that we could live with! Make sure to visit the Rose Park and walk the gardens that are on this property. Can’t go wrong with this property.

Great Location, Beautiful Apartment

Everything was great! I met the host and her dog on the first night, and they were both really nice : ) I live in Berkeley, and I booked this place for a few days while the floors in my home were being refinished. The location is excellent; it's situated in the Berkeley Hills, but not too far up, so you'll be close to the university, downtown, Chez Panisse, and more, all while enjoying beautiful views of San Francisco.

In town for a week at UC Berkeley

Well appointed, super convenient and safe. The deck was amazing and provided just the spot for after a long day of classes. Susie was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!

A fantastic find!

The apartment was great, in a very convenient location with excellent parking, near great restaurants with beautiful parks in walking distance. It was private, with beautiful views and lovely gardens. I stayed for 7 weeks and really enjoyed it. The owner was lovely, super helpful and very inclusive and welcoming. Definitely a find!!

Beautiful Berkeley

Lovely place to stay in a charming and historic home within walking distance of the CAL campus and the historic Rose Walk. The view of San Francisco is incredible, and the deck is spectacular. The owners are very kind and accommodating.

Berkeley Hills

This is one of the most beautiful settings one could imagine. Easy access to the Greek Theater, UCB, restaurant ghetto, and best of all, Tilden Park. That blew me away most. I just couldn’t pull myself away from the view.

Susie’s Cozy Hideaway in the Hills

Susie was a wonderful host! She responded very quickly and was very accommodating to our needs. The place was absolutely clean and stylish with stunning views of the bay and San Francisco from the Living Room and from the outdoor deck in the trees. Parking was provided and on site washer and dryer was incredibly convenient. I definitely recommend the place if you’re looking for some thing with character, amazing walking, and peace and quiet free of city noises.

We have lived in Berkeley for twenty four years. Greg works for a social service agency in San Francisco and Susie works in the arts in Berkeley. Greg's mom recently moved out here to live with us and our son and college friend live with us in the house as well. So while the rental unit is very private, it is surrounded by a very friendly, three generation family. There is always someone around who can provide advice about things to see and do, directions to destinations, or thoughts about favorite restaurants and theaters.

We love this part of Berkeley. It is close to coffee shops, great food and all the amenities of the City. San Francisco, wine country, the Sierras and the Coast are all within easy reach. We are near all the cultural amenities that make the Bay Area such a treat and yet the house is a quiet, retreat with its own garden, redwood grove and magnificent views of Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Cal Berkeley and San Francisco.

The apartment is located in one of the most distinguished historic districts in Berkeley. The house, designed by UC Architect Warren Charles Perry, was built for Prof. Edward Tolman in 1924. It is surrounded by homes designed by revered California architect, Bernard Maybeck, and within minutes of the many walkways and paths that make strolling through the Berkeley hills so special. A twenty minute walk uphill will land you in Tilden Regional Park while a ten minute walk downhill will take you to the Berkeley Rose Garden. Another five minutes down and you are in the heart of one of Berkeley's shopping districts with excellent carry-out food as well as world renowned restaurants.
