Comfy, Secluded Lake Cabin Retreat

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry our property did not meet your expectations. The cabin is intentionally located in a secluded, rural area, which is clearly disclosed in our listing. While our cabin is approximately 10-15 miles from town and medical services, there is a marina with a restaurant and bar located less than 3 miles from the cabin. We encourage guests to carefully review the location and property description to ensure the cabin is a good fit for their needs. Regarding the deck, it had been cleaned less than two weeks before your arrival. We were not aware that mold or algae had accumulated again prior to your stay. Given the cabin’s wooded location and outdoor exposure, these conditions can develop quickly, but we would have been happy to address the issue had it been brought to our attention while you were there. We understand that a secluded cabin is not the right fit for everyone, but we do our best to accurately represent the property and its location so guests can make an informed decision before booking.

Regarding your delayed check-in, we did communicate through the VRBO messaging platform that our scheduled cleaner experienced a medical emergency and that a replacement cleaner was on the way. We understand that any delay is inconvenient and appreciate your patience while we ensured the cabin was properly prepared. Prior to your stay, we were only aware that one spindle had become loose—we had no indication that the chair itself was structurally compromised. As soon as you notified us, we removed the chair from the cabin to ensure it could not be used. As for water access, while the property does not have private lake access, public access to the water is located less than a mile from the cabin. We regret that you encountered an insect during your stay. While our cabin is professionally cleaned and routinely treated, it is located in a wooded, rural setting where the occasional insect can unfortunately find its way indoors despite preventative measures. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue to improve the experience for future guests.

That said, several points in your review need clarification. After receiving your message during your stay, we promptly contacted our cleaning company and relayed the concerns you reported regarding dust, the porch, and the other cleaning issues. We have since removed the open condiments that were previously provided for guests. Those items were intentionally made available as an amenity, but we understand your concern and have eliminated that issue going forward. The cabin does not have traditional closets, and this is not something we plan to change. Adding closets would take away valuable usable space in the bedrooms. The listing provides hangers and hooks for guests to hang clothing, along with ample dresser and drawer space for folded items. The property is heavily wooded. During the warmer months, the trees do obstruct the lake/river view from the cabin, which is why we do not mention a water view. We are surprised by the appearance of the sandbar area. We cannot speak to or take responsibility for what may have occurred in a public or shared area away from the property. Most importantly, when you contacted us during your stay, we did respond and offered a refund of the cleaning fee as a goodwill gesture based on the cleaning concerns you reported. You then requested a larger discount, which we did not agree to. We do appreciate the feedback regarding the cleaning, and we have passed those concerns along to the cleaning company so they can be addressed.
