“Welcome to your dream getaway on the enchanting island of Sifnos! Nestled in the picturesque village of Ano Petali, our traditional 100 year old Cycladic house offers an authentic village experience, a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the serene pace of Greek island life and simplicity .

This cute 84-square-meter home features two double bedrooms, a room with three beds, a comfortable living room, two bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. Friendly & traditionally decorated , it is ideally situated between Apollonia ( capital ) and Artemonas , and so easy to live in , since everything is in walking distance through picturesque village pathways ; one can , therefore , be near the center and yet in a quite spot , enjoying simple life !

Just steps away from the village center and conveniently approachable by car or bus, our home allows you to explore nearby beaches with ease. It is not directly accessible by car; one has to walk uphill for about 4' from the two car accesses (road or village parking ).

The real gem is the stunning terrace, offering panoramic views of the sunrise & moonrise over the Aegean Sea and the timeless beauty of Sifnos. This terrace ( as well as a rooftop terrace ) is where the outdoor sitting and eating mostly takes place . Perfect for families, groups of friends, and even your little ones or pets, this peaceful retreat is designed for relaxation and mindfulness , because of its' privileged fully private terrace with an open view towards the nearby villages and the sea ! Buses going to all the beaches stop very near , and so is the parking , in case one rents a car .

The house sleeps 6 , as well as a baby ( cot, high chair etc ) . It is composed of a living room ( that can turn into a 1 bed bedroom, if needed ), a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower (bath 1), a 3 bed bedroom (bed. 1), a 1 bed bedroom - that can turn into a 2 bed or a queen bed bedroom, (bed. 2), and a studio , which is an independent bedroom with double bed (bed. 3) & an "en suite" bathroom (bath 2). A patio with an open air shower (bath 1) is in the center of the house and is protected from the wind on days with "meltemia" (Aegean sea northern wind) . The house is decorated in the traditional way - a vernacular rural atmosphere - and all modern touch ups respect this , thus creating a cozy tasteful ambiance .

A charming beautiful home with wonderful views across the hilltop towns of Sifnos

We stayed at Vassia's house for two weeks on our first stay to Sifnos. The pictures do not do the house justice - it's all arranged an inner courtyard with some beautiful plants. The bedrooms are off that which makes it feel like an old Roman villa. The rooms have great charm, with lots of antiques and lovely furniture but designed to be very practical (a very well equipped kitchen and an almost too-strong shower!). The patio at the back is lovely in the evening as the sun sets across the hills in the distance. The house itself is a four minute walk to any car park - but that's standard across all of Sifnos where most of the towns are pedestrianised. It was nice in the evening to wander into Apolonia (a five min walk) to get a pizza and then just head on back to the house. The local grocery shop does delivery which we didn't end up using but would be helpful if you're slightly older or with kids, in case you're lugging back big bags of shopping. Overall, Sifnos is beautiful with terrific food and lovely beaches. We most loved the more wild ones in the north of the island. Vassia's place was the perfect base for our time there - we shall be back!

Highly recommend this house

We had a wonderful 3 week stay here the house was super - set in a peaceful part of the island but walking distance to Apollonia and Artemonas. Beautiful view of the sunrise from the terrace. Vassia was extremely kind and went above and beyond to make the holiday with three Young children as easy as possible. Highly recommend this place.

La maison est très agréable, nous avons eu mauvais temps froid à notre arrivée et les radiateurs étaient bien appréciables; Elle est très joliment décorée, il y a tout ce qu'il faut; La terrasse sur la mer au loin est superbe pour le petit dejeuner et le petit patio ravissant; une adresse à recommander .

La maison est très agréable, très bien équipée. Nous avons eu mauvais temps froid au début et les radiateurs ont été bien appréciables... Elle est meublée avec gout, le petit patio est ravissant. Magnifique séjour à Apollonia

Nous avons passé un séjour somptueux. Cette maison est un vrai havre de paix, avec sa petite cour intérieur et sa terrasse fleurie. La vue est magnifique, et tous les matins c'est un vrai plaisir de découvrir toutes ces jolies maisons blanches au milieu d'une nature riche. Cette île est plus qu'agréable, très familiale et nous avons été charmés par sa beauté et par l'accueil des Grecs. Pour sûr, nous reviendrons!

Divin !

La maison de Vassia est en tous points conforme à son annonce : ravissante et très agréable. La terrasse avec vue sur mer est par dessus-tout l'espace où nous avons passé tout notre temps. Elle est parfaitement située dans un quartier calme au croisement des deux villages d'Apollonia et d'Artemonas plus vivants, où l'on trouve tous les commerces, restaurants, bars, soit, à 10 mn à pieds. Vassia nous a accueilli avec beaucoup de gentillesse et de disponibilité. Nous sommes ravis de ce choix.

Un merveilleux séjour

Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour chez Vassia cet été. La maison est typique, décorée avec soin, on sent qu'on est dans une maison de famille. La configuration permet que chacun ait son intimité même si la maison n'est pas très grande. La cour intérieure est très belle et permet de se doucher à l'extérieur. La terrasse extérieure est ombragée dès l'heure du déjeuner et offre une vue merveilleuse sur Artémonas et la mer. La maison est bien équipée. Elle est idéalement située entre Apolonia et Artémonas, dans un ensemble piétionnier, ce qui permet aux enfants de circuler librement. Nous avions vraiment l'impression d'être intégrés dans un quartier grec à l'écart des spots touristiques. L'accueil de Vassia était parfait, elle a été très bien reliée sur place par Kosta qui nous accueilli au port, nous a fourni en produits locaux et nous a accompagné pour notre départ. L'île de Sifnos est typique des cyclades et dispose de merveilleuses plages et ports de pêche. Nous avons, grâce au réseau de bus très développé, visité un lieu par jour. Notre préférence va aux ports de Faros et Eronissos. Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié les soirées sur la place d'Artémonas et un dîner au restaurant de l'hôtel Artemon. Bref, nous espérons revenir très vite.

Lovely, lovely

My wife and I and our three daughters spent a wonderful week in Vassia's house in the middle of June, 2016. The location in Ano Petali, was perfect for us. It was really easy to walk, about 10 minutes depending on mood and temperature, between the house and Appolonia (the "capital" of Sifnos) where we spent most of the evenings because of the many excellent restaurants and cafés, and, in the other direction, a comfortable 5 minute walk to the other large village, Artemonas with not as many, but equally nice restaurants. After an evening out it was very nice to get back "home" to the quiet area, and the great view of Artemonas, the valley below, the big garden just under the terrace, all the beautiful churches, mountains and, in the distance, the sea. The house itself was more than enough for the five of us, very pleasant and had everything we needed. One afternoon when we didn't have the energy to go to one of the restaurants to watch that days most interesting football-game ( Euro 2016), we stayed at home and saw it on the internet instead, which worked fine. We got great help from the friendly mr Kostas on our day of arriving, and when we left, with taking us and our luggage, and many good suggestions from Vassia for excursions to the beaches and other places. I believe that it is also a good starting point for trekking around the island, if that is your thing. So if you like Sifnos for all that it offers, I think you will like this house. We would like to come back.

J'y reviens chaque année depuis 4 ans. Je m'y sens naturellement bien. La maison de Vassia est un havre de paix: belle, confortable, hospitalière et accueillante, à l'image de sa propriétaire! Tout est là pour que l'on s'y sente bien...La beauté des paysages, les plages aisément accessibles en bus, les bains de mer, les belles demeures d'Artemonas, de Kastro, d'Ano Petali, la gentillesse des habitants, les plats typiques et variés de l'île, what else ?

Magnifique séjour à Sifnos

Nous avons séjourné sur l'île de Sifnos en octobre 2015, dans cette très jolie maison située au centre de l'île. Le village de Ano Petali se trouve à quelques kilomètres du port de Kamares où nous avons débarqué après six heures de bateau parti du Pirée et faisant escale dans diverses îles sur son parcours. La maison à cour intérieure, typique de l'architecture des Cyclades, est aménagée avec un goût très agréablement traditionnel. La grande terrasse offre une vue sur la mer et sur le village d'en face, Artemonas. L'île de moins de 3000 habitants, sans aéroport, invite à visiter les villages avec ses ruelles blanches: les nombreuses églises aux coupoles bleues et petits cloîtres situés tantôt au sommet des montagnes, tantôt au bord de la mer, les innombrables petites baies et plages, sans grand monde à cette saison, mais invitant encore au bain et les tavernes simples et d'autant plus accueillantes. Repos et sérénité: c'est ainsi que nous pourrions résumer notre séjour.

Pour des vacances de rêve

Je ne peux que recommander cette adorable maison où j'ai déjà séjourné avec immense plaisir à trois reprises. Située entre Artemonas et Apollonia, on y est à la fois tout proche de ces deux pôles où l'on se rend à pied en quelques minutes, mais également au départ de magnifiques ballades à pied dans toute l'ile. La nature y est belle et variée et l'architecture locale très présente. C'est si simple de prendre le bus en bas de la ruelle pour se rendre dans toutes les plages de l'ile. L'intérieur de la maison est non seulement très confortable, mais il a de plus beaucoup de cachet tout en étant très facile à vivre. Nous y avons passé trois semaines à deux couples dont l'un avec enfants et c'est idéal pour tantôt partager des moments conviviaux, tantôt se retirer chacun de son côté. Deux terrasses orientées différemment permettent de chercher le soleil ou de l'éviter à différents moments de la journée. C'est un endroit que l'on ne peut quitter sans se réjouir d'y revenir!

Breathtaking View!

I stayed with 2 girlfriends July 2014 and 2015 and I keep coming back!! The house is very comfortable - we each had our own space/privacy but still keeping it cozy. One nite we invited friends over and sat on the back patio, overlooking the sea talking till the wee hours. The view was breathtaking. Getting to and from Artemonas and Apollonia, the neighboring villages , is not difficult and there you can find really nice shops, cafe's and small restaurants with great food and reasonable prices. I'm already planning my next visit!!!

Awesome! Island hoping with the girls-Sifnos was the best place we visited

The perfect place to stay if you want to get the full Greek island experience! The owner was very sweet and helpful with giving us information about the island. The house is in the perfect location: the bus is so close we didn't even have to rent a car, and the city center is walking distance so going out at night was simple. When you go make sure to ask the owner if there is any "panigiri" around that time, it is a sort of festival that happens a few times in the summer and it is soooo worth it!

It's adorable.

I stayed at this house for a week on May 2015. The house is adorable. I felt in love with it. The location is perfect. Just between Apollonia and Artemonas, the main villages. The view is suburb and just sitting outside with our morning coffee was the perfect start for the day. The decoration of the house is absolutely wonderful, the kitchen is fully equipped and all we needed for breakfast and dinner were there. I strongly recommend it.

Excellent stay !

We had the chance to stay at the house for two weeks and enjoyed every minute of it! The location was great: main village is only a 5 min walk away and for those without a car, the house is very close to the bus stop that takes you to most beaches and to the port. The house itself is perfect for couples or families (has 3 bedrooms, one of which sleeps 3), with a big terace with a view and very calm (even though located in the village) We will definitely com back ! :)

I have grown up in Athens, Greece, and studied Architecture in the Polytechnic Institute of Lausanne , Switzerland. I visited Sifnos almost every summer since 1979, building strong emotions for the place... I managed to buy and renovate this traditional house in 2009. I live in Athens and I have three wonderful kids working in Athens, Zurich and Paris. I speak English, French, Italian and Greek ( and you will notice that everyone on the island can speak some English ).

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

Being a city child from Athens I missed a place of 'origin'; I always felt a bond to this island and I wanted to become part of it, to 'adopt' it. I also feel admiration for the power of vernacular architecture which is so simple and strong in the Cyclades... one can never repeat this in a contemporary building.
The neighbourhood , where the house is situated , is a traditional village neighbourhood where very few tourists are found , except for long term house owners . It is far away from the noisy bars and stores, while still so close on foot. The locals are very friendly and discreet , as long as the renters respect their lives . Small houses are all around . But the biggest privilege of this neighbourhood is that you can walk to all the shops and restaurants of both Apollonia and Artemonas for all your needs ( food , shopping , pharmacy , tourist police , bars etc ) at all hours of the day . You can even order food or make the super market shopping and have it delivered to the house .

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

This house is very easy to live in ( especially charming in June or September ) because everything is in walking distance! Also, although it is in the village, it is one of the few properties which have an open view towards the nearby villages and the sea! The terrace has full privacy which is rarely found inside the villages ; there are no noisy bars nearby , yet , at the same time , the "live" spot of the island is so close by. All the pedestrian small paths are kept very clean.
You can reach Sifnos island only by boat . From here , you can easily visit other islands of the Cyclades like Serifos or Milos ( day trip back & forth ) , or Paros , Antiparos , Folegandros , Ios , Santorini etc .
Although a car cannot reach the house directly , all means of transportation are very near the house . The bus stop is not far on foot and , if you have a car , you can access the house either by the Ano Petali communal parking or by parking your car at the "Gefiraki" below ( on the street ) and then walk around 4' uphill . Coming from Apollonia or from Artemonas , there is also the option of traditional small pathways on foot.
