Very quaint property that exceeded our needs!, kathy was a wonderful host.will definitely book our yearly vacation with her! The walk in shower with multiple heads was a game changer !

Such a cute place to stay. Decorated well with plenty of towels and toiletries if you forgot any of your own. We enjoyed our stay.

User friendly, clean and comfortable. Very fun theme decoration of the old Garfield school. Good space for kids or to hang out. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing stay!!! Felt like i was at my family’s home. Pet friendly and filled with games for adults and kids. Had everything you could need for a short or extended stay. Very clean and the host is lovely.

This might be my favorite place to stay (not just because it was my old school)! This felt like home. It had all the things needed! Washer and dryer, makeup remover, shampoo, conditioner! The beds were comfortable with various pillow types. We ate lunch on the deck and met a friendly cat that just wanted to get some rubbing. Kathy made check in easy and let me know that she was available if I had any questions.

The Schoolhouse in Oskaloosa Iowa was absolutely the best vacation rental that all in our party have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived until our day of departure, we felt like we were all at home.The attention to detail, cleanliness, and flow of the space was incredible. We loved the schoolhouse themed rooms, the lockers in the bathroom, the full sized washer and dryer, the adult-sized highchair, the full sized chalkboard , and all of the adorable antiques throughout.We also grew very fond of the sweet house kitty named Carmelita, and spent time with her each day on their lovely deck.Tim, the owner was very communicative, open and friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. We will always stay at the schoolhouse whenever we are back in Osky! Thank you Tim and Kathy (we hope to see Kathy on our next trip) for hosting us!

Patrica and Party of Five, We are grateful you enjoyed your space and atmosphere of our old schoolhouse, this was our intention as ideas developed into our "vision" of the end comfortability. Your group was fabulous in taking care of the apartment and following the checklist of "to dos" prior to departure! We appreciate this so very much. Each of you were respectful and responsible. Our cat, Carmella, we are just beginning to realize that she disappears more often when we have guests staying. If she ever presents a problem, seeking affection from you or others, please let us know! Carmella did seem to be a little lost after you left and spent more time with us downstairs. We hope you do travel to Oskaloosa again and reserve with us. We should have the second unit done by then, if you have an interest in staying there. Again, thanks for being reliable guests! I would of loved to have met each of you and usually I would have except for my recent hip break. Take care and until we meet again! Tim and Kathy

Perfection

This was the absolute cutest place! Tim and Kathy didn’t cut a single corner—every detail was thoughtfully done. It’s spacious, cozy, and full of character. The cherry on top? Their incredible hospitality. We felt so welcomed and cared for!

What an awesome property. Easy communication with the property owner. They pure work into decorating and making the space feel homey. We will absolutely be back. One of our favorite properties we have stayed at. The only caution is it says it’s a 5 bedroom in the listing. It is actually a 3 bedroom, but it’s a huge space.

Hi, my response is not ss timely ad i would of liked. Thsnk you for mentioning that Garfield School is not 5 bedrooms. Oh, my, i tried to add sleeping spaces on air matresses and apparently i selected thIs incorrectly and was interpreted as 2 additional bedrooms. I do not want to mis-represent the spaces available! Appreciate you bringing this to my attention, this is corrected now. Thank you, Kathy

This was exactly as listed but better! The entire experience was great with all the details. This was pet friendly, although our dog loved coming in and out to check it all out!! The rooms were accommodating to our family of 5. Clean with good details for everything to be on order! The kitchen was stocked. Laundry was perfect! We loved the schoolhouse details! Hosts were awesome, very responsive and available when needed!! Thank you so much for this experience!

This schoolhouse is SUCH a special place. The classrooms have been lovingly restored. The owners have included delightful touches throughout -- lockers in the bathroom, former teachers' names on the doors, chalkboards and chalk, pull-down maps (from 1949!), and so much more. We appreciated all the care that went into making us comfortable during our stay, from a basket of snacks to chilled water in the fridge to detailed instructions about how to operate the TV. We will be back again and again and again.

This rental is very clean, spacious and decorated with appropriate old “school” charm. Our dog loved the stay as well. Lots of places to roam in the rental and outside. But her favorite spot was out on the patio with all of us. The photos online are exactly what the place looks like. Kathy was an amazing host, she was there if we needed her. Less than a five minute drive to downtown for a coffee, or pastries at Jaarsma’s bakery. You also have everything you need within the apartment. Plenty of dishes, utensils, cookware, outdoor grill. I would stay here again for sure. Would rate this a 5 out of 5.

So I doubt I can describe how incredible our experience here was, but I’ll try. The reclaimed schoolhouse has such a Midwest homestead feel you wouldn’t believe it would carry so much history with it, but it does. The careful attachment with the old, while understanding the necessary comforts of the new occupants, have made this time an experience, more than a stay. Kathy and Tim are caring, talented and empathetic. They are the type of people that reassure you that when you leave your home to go onto a new place, there is enough love in their hearts to make you feel at home in theirs.

The place was awesome! It was so cute and we just loved it. Better than we expected. Kathy was wonderful to work with and talk to! 10/10 recommend and we will absolutely stay again if we come back to the area!
