The Dairy is a step back in time with a high-pitched ceiling and original loft. The bedroom area is spacious and inviting with 2 king-size beds located beneath the loft. A focal point is a beautiful stained glass window located in the loft to catch the morning sun.The French country daybed sleeps a fifth guest or simply provides a comfortable place to relax. The large country wardrobe (which houses the mini-kitchen) and rustic furnishings give a French Country feel to the Dairy. A bathroom that includes a shower is located off the living area of the Dairy. Like all of our guesthouses, an ample porch provides a great place to relax and enjoy the Texas Hill Country. Complete with an antique double wrought-iron rocker to enjoy your favorite beverage.We look forward to your stay and strive to ensure that you experience the best of the Hill lavender, peaches, live music, restaurants, shopping, hiking and more.

Disappointed in the over all of the “home”. Beds are like sleeping in a hole, there was no kitchen but a microwave, small sink. We used nothing in the “kitchen”. No sofa to sit in to watch the tv if we wanted just a day bed, who wants to sit on something people sleep in, thankful we decided not to take our 2 little dogs as originally planned as I would have not wanted them on the “dirty” floor. The bathroom was super tiny and the step into the shower was barely big enough for my husbands foot, he wears a 12. And the towels smelled like they were soaked in fabric softener. Just disappointed as this was not like our regular Vrbos… no we did not enjoy our stay and will not recommend. Thank you.

We absolutely loved our stay at Ava Haus Dairy Barn! It was the perfect home base for our girls trip — cozy, clean, and full of charm. The layout was spacious and comfortable for our group, with plenty of room to hang out and relax after a day of exploring.The property itself is beautiful and peaceful, with such a cute, rustic Hill Country feel. Everything was well-stocked and thoughtfully arranged, which made it feel like home right away.The location was also perfect — just a short drive to all the wineries and downtown Fredericksburg, but tucked away enough to feel private and relaxing.We all said we’d 100% stay here again. It’s such a special spot — can’t recommend it enough!

Fantastic Stay!

We were in town for a wedding and stayed at the Dairy Barn for two nights. Our host, Patricia, replied quickly to all my questions, and the barn was perfect! We loved the decor, the snacks/breakfast muffins/cold beverages waiting for us upon check-in, comfy beds, and the great linens. There was also access to a side road where we went on a long walk one morning. We will definitely be back - thank you!

Great property!!

Exceptional property and exactly as described. Only knock was the shower head resulting in stinging water pressure which was unpleasant. Would recommend property holistically!

Double check listing

I wanted to go to Fredericksburg and enjoy the city and the restaurants. The main thing I was looking for in a place to stay was an indoor fireplace. My husband and I love sitting in front of the fireplace and playing games When we arrived, we saw there was no fireplace. I had previously contacted the owner to see if they provided the firewood for the fireplace. However, I failed to verify that the fireplace was indoors. When I contacted the owner, she acknowledged that there had been an issue with VRBO When they went to a new platform and that all of her listings showed an incorrect description. She thanked me for letting her know and she corrected her listings. She also sent information that I should contact Customer Service at VRBO. I thought the VRBO was going to offer me some kind of a compensation however they stated only the host could refund and that was not something she wanted to do. VRBO did reimburse me their payment that they receive. All in all I just wanna reiterate that people need to verify what’s listed that you’re looking for and and enjoy. Although the place was very nice it was missing the fireplace inside and we were disappointed.

The Dairy has alot of character. We enjoyed our stay. The beds were comfy. Good times with family. Lots to see and do in and around Fredericksburg.

A delightful getaway

Patricia was fabulous about communication prior to our stay and easily available during it. A Most pleasant host. The Diary Barn was quaint and comfortable. Best of all was the serene atmosphere that surrounded us each day.

Great house. Poor ownership.

The Ava Haus Dairy barn was a cute, quaint little house and perfect for our girl’s weekend. Great location, just a couple miles from town. The male owner was even there to help us find the place and get settled in. FYI, There is a “quiet time” from 11PM-8AM. And I think the owners live within feet of this place. The stay itself was great. Until we checked out and the FEMALE owner was very rude. We had not been able to review the “rules” online because the owners pulled the listings from VRBO for a new management company. Upon checkout, the lady called to let me know she was very disappointed in how we were “DISRESPECTFUL” to the house. This was based on a couple things we didn’t know we needed to take care of (and didn’t think we needed to considering we paid a cleaning fee)— taking out the trash to the dumpster (we had gathered it up by the door), emptying the Keurig, and using the cheap face cloths to remove makeup. She clearly is in the wrong business and I hope now with new management they may have better luck renting out the place. I recommend researching this location on other sites and reading into other reviews, which seem very much the same as mine. Great rental but very rude and poor management by the FEMALE owner.

Perfect intro to Fredericksburg!

This place was so great! I took the women in my family on a girls trip and when I tell you my grandma's jaw dropped when she walked in!!! She was so overwhelmed by how cute this place was! Every detail was just so sweet! The donuts left for us, the selection of board games, and the super cute decor! Not to mention how close we were to main street and everything we had planned to do! We couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Thank you to our hosts and we hope to stay again!

Over the top hospitality!

We loved our stay at the Dairy Barn! It was beautifully decorated and so clean! The beds were incredibly comfortable! The owners were just a text message away and they thought of everything! From the snacks, drinks and goodies, from the games, and movies, we didn’t want to leave! It was so close to town, but it also felt like we were out in the country! It was so peaceful! We will most definitely be back!

Perfect Getaway

The Ava Haus Dairy is the perfect getaway. My family of 4 stayed here for the second time & loved it even more this time! Comfortable beds, fun games, beautiful outdoor space & Patio, and the setting of Texas Hill Country make this a no Brainer. Patricia was awesome in pre-trip communication making the process extremely easy. She even provided kid friendly snacks knowing my kids were coming! Thank you to Team Ava Haus for an excellent experience!

We are Tava and Patricia Hamilton. Married since 1996, we share 3 beautiful children, their spouses and 4 fantastic grandchildren!

Moving from Central Texas in 2017; we were given the opportunity to purchase an incredible 1862 authentic German Homestead, which includes the first hand dug well in FBG, and the first Dairy Barn.

Attracted to the tranquil setting, beauty, history, and convenient access to town, we couldn’t refuse. On 7/7/17, we purchased the property!

Everyday we feel thankful to live here. It is truly a charmed life. We are thankful to be sharing our place with you, family, and friends. Welcome to our HOME!!
