Near the top of the road that winds up the lower slopes of the mountains rising above the town of Wilson, West Evergreen feels like an airy treehouse where compelling architecture comes together with wildlife wandering through the yard.

Though West Evergreen feels like it’s in the middle of the wilderness, within its 3,443 square feet you will find creature comforts as a sauna, hot tub, heated floors and room to sleep six people. Its great room and media roomfor family and friends to gather both have views of Sleeping Indian, the iconic peak on the east side of Jackson Hole. Downtown Jackson and Teton Village are about equidistant from West Evergreen, making it an ideal location from which to explore all that Jackson Hole offers.

Throughout West Evergreen the aesthetic is calm and considered yet doesn’t take itself too seriously. The wood lighting fixtures in the great room are gorgeously architectural and there’s a painting of a bear in a swimming pool by the highly collectible Jackson-based artist Travis Walker.

West Evergreen’s ground floor has two guest suites and a media room with two bunk style beds where you can relax in front of the large screen TV, settle into the couch with a good book, or gather to play games. Both guest suites are on the south end of the property and have Queen-size beds, walk-in closets, work areas, bathrooms with double vanities and walk-in showers, and patios. Also on the ground floor are the sauna , a mudroom, mud and a laundry room.

West Evergreen’s primary suite is private, in its own wing and on the mezzanine between the ground and second floors. It has a king size bed; a bathroom with a walk-in shower, double vanity, separate WC, makeup table and a deep soaking tub. It also hasa work area; an oversize walk-in closet; and a private east-facing deck.

The kitchen, which is open to the great room, is on the second floor. It is in this space that you really start to feel like you’re in a treehouse, albeit one with a professional kitchen, gas-burning fireplace, and Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. Here, the eastern wall, which faces the valley, is almost entirely glass and, at this height, you’re mid-level in the mature evergreen forest around the house. Through a break in the trees, you can see Sleeping Indian.

This level also has a wrap-around deck that faces south and east and, on the uphill side of home, a terrace that faces into the forest with the potential for wildlife sightings. Walking onto the wrap-around deck here feels like you’re walking into the forest.

A half-floor above the great room, in the same wing as the primary suite, is an office, or, thanks to a queen size Murphy bed, a third guest suite.
