Hi Tammie, We are so sorry about the smell. We did have someone who needed a place to stay for a few months that brought their dog and cat. We had shampooed the carpets, but in response to your review, are having the carpets and padding replaced. It's unfortunate, as they arent that old. We hope you try us again. Jon and Susan

I am very surprised at the 2 star review based on the mainly positive review. We have received many reviews stating how clean the house is upon the arrival. This is very important to us especially since we are dog friendly. We also keep our costs for house cleaning as low as possible to our guests. No rise in over 10 years! Part of that is that we do ask guests to put a load of towels in the washer before leaving. We dont expect you to wait and also put them in the dryer. I will correct that part of the contract. Takes 1 minute to load towels and start washer but helps housecleaner re her time at the house. I think everyone loads the dishwasher and starts it before leaving. No need to wait for it to finish of course. I do not believe these are unreasonable requests. Of course we want you to enjoy your stay with us and not have to bring anything extra except clothes and your water toys and positive attitude! If anyone has an issue with our rental contract terms dont hesitate to discuss with us prior to signing it or prior to your stay. We are very responsive and just want you to relax and enjoy the property and lake! We are more than a 2 star property and in more 5 years on this site routinely get 5 stars. Cheers!

Thanks so much for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage! The bed is a modern memory foam type mattress that renters have described as a "dream" to sleep on and I'm glad you liked it. We are currently updating our kitchen with a stone counter and a breakfast bar area between the kitchen and living room area. We also just ordered a fireplace insert for chilly nights.
