Beautiful Custom Built Muskoka Boathouse!

Boathouse living offers beautiful panoramic views of the lake from every side. Enjoy peaceful nights as you listen to the soothing sound of the water/loons in our upper scale boathouse, built directly on the water of popular Skeleton Lake. Known as 'Muskoka's Best Kept Secret', in the heart of Muskoka, Skeleton Lake offers sandy swimming coves, great fishing, water sports, hiking and warm summer sunsets.
Our beautiful custom built boathouse is a rewarding treasure located at the end of a 3 kilo winding cottage road, and is very cozily decorated with antiques, has an open concept living room with queen size pull out sofa, dining room and fully equipped kitchen (incl. dishwasher/microwave). There is also a flat screen/satellite TV(DVD ). A separate bedroom offers a gorgeous view of the lake while lying in the queen size bed. There are lower docks on both sides for swimming and shade as well as a large upper deck including several Muskoka chairs for sun tanning and BBQ for your outdoor cooking. There are two kayaks, canoe, paddle board and swim toys to enjoy your travels around the little islands that are seen from the boathouse. Fishing rods are available. There is a boat slip available. Please review documentation for appropriate boat size. A boat launch is only one bay away! -Please note we also have a two bedroom cottage on Skeleton Lake. You may find this property under VRBO#1861565 in addition to a 3 bedroom under VRBO#2414219.
Skeleton Lake is 10 minutes from Diamond in the Ruff Golf Course, as well as a 18-20 minute scenic ride to the villages/towns of Port Carling, Rosseau, Bracebridge and Hunstville where you can enjoy exploring all of the quaint shops and summer time markets.
Please note that seasonal rentals both spring and fall are a minimum of 3 nights. The high season (end of June to Labour Day) is a minimum 1 week rental. The boathouse is set up for one adult couple and two children under the age of 12. Two children under the age of 12 stay free. There is an additional charge of 75.00 per person per night for two adult couples. Maximum number of people is 4. We are open from the Canadian May long weekend until Canadian Thanks giving. We are closed in the winter months. We are unable to confirm the reservation without the mandatory attached rental agreement returned. Please refer to the attached rental agreement for detailed information required to rent the boathouse. (attached to this web site under house rules). High Season rents from Saturday to Saturday. The boathouse is available for mature adults over the age of 25.

This was a wonderful location. We were very pleased with the accommodations and Lorrie was a wonderful host. Everything was as we expected, and Lorrie checked in with us several times to make sure we didn't have any issue. Highly recommended!!

We had a wonderful time. We got to see the sunrise and set every morning it was spectacular. We enjoyed the morning canoe ride, swimming. The lake is so clean you can see straight to the bottom. The whole boat house was very clean and organized. Communication was very easy. Everyone was so kind and helpful. If your looking for a wonderful getaway look no further it's a trip that is truly unforgettable!

Boathouse Vacation

A unique experience. Wonderful views, sunrise, sunset. Lovely accommodation it felt comfortable and like home almost immediately. Be prepared for the 35+ steps, in stages, down to the boathouse.

A great getaway

The boathouse was the perfect getaway for the week. The property was exceptionally clean, comfortable and everything was in its right place. Very quiet and beautiful sunrises and sunsets with sun all day. Lake is pristine and clean. Host was great to work with.

Wow! What an incredible week it was at the Boathouse on Skeleton Lake. It was absolutely beautiful, and our stay was everything we had hoped for! Super comfortable, great communication with the rental manager, equipped with everything we needed! We will absolutely be going back.

Heavenly!

The boathouse and Skeleton Lake exceeded all of our expectations. We've stayed on lake Muskoka and lake Rosseau several times before but this neither of them compare to this experience. The home was clean and well appointed, the location is pristine, and we never wanted to come out of that water! Thanks Lorrie and our hosts for a wonderful, personalized, week. It was just what we needed.

All-round Spectacular

This beautiful boathouse is a gemā€¦.clean and spotless, beautifully built and decorated, spectacular views, and fully stocked with all needed amenities including a variety of water toys. The hosts were so helpful and responsive, even coming by boat to ensure we settled in alright. From the sunrises to the sunsets, this was a perfect place to relax, recharge, play in the water and watch an assortment of wildlife. We can hardly wait to come back!

Beautiful boathouse

Beautiful place on a beautiful lake. Maybe the best Muskoka rental weā€™ve had. The only issues were the very steep and rough lane into the cottage and the many, many steps from parking down to the boathouse. Carrying heavy coolers and suitcases down and then back up was a hell of a workout!

This is really a special place ... spectacular views, clean, comfortable & unique! The boathouse is beautifully designed & easily accommodated our family of four adults! The hosts surpassed all expectations & offered a personal introduction & tour of Skeleton Lake! So many water toys to enjoy lake living at it's best! So perfect ... I don't know whether to recommend it to everyone I know, or keep it a secret!

Beautiful boathouse

We really enjoyed our week at the boathouse. It's clean, very comfortable and well equipped for cooking. The views are incredible and swimming off the dock is pristine. It was peaceful and quiet, very relaxing. We'd love to return! The only thing we would ask in advance of our next stay is whether the main cottage is being used to host other guests - towards the end of our week it was occupied by a group of friends and this affected the quiet/privacy - but overall, it was a great stay.

Beautiful and Cozy

We enjoyed our stay. The property was just as described. The lake is beautiful and extremely tranquil. Stars were spectacular. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, etc. but you will need to provide everything else other than salt and pepper. There is dish and dishwasher soap but bring your own bath/hand soap. I donā€™t recommend having more than two people staying here, unless itā€™s your children. We would gladly return!

Summer at the Boathouse!

Our family of four enjoyed a wonderful week at the Boathouse. It is a beautiful space, inside and out. We made good use of the kayaks and canoe, exploring the shoreline in both directions, and all of the pretty islands off-shore. The cliffs over by Rosebud Island are spectacular! Fantastic swimming off the boathouse dock, with deep, crystal clear water. We also really enjoyed all the decks, which allow you to 'follow the sun' from morning until evening. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortably furnished. We had never spent time before in Muskoka, and definitely see now why people describe the lakes and forests there in such glowing terms! Lots of wildlife, with resident beavers swimming under the boathouse and along the shore each day, a pair of loons off-shore, herons, osprey and lots of blue jays, chick-a-dees and what we think may have been pine siskins in the forest along the shore. Our daughter and son-in-law were delighted to see a bear, foraging in the forest, one evening as they walked along the cottage roads after dinner. Next time, we will take bells to attach to our clothing for after-dinner walks! All in all, a wonderfully quiet, beautiful setting and a restful and relaxing holiday.

Muskoka Magic

My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon and it was perfect. The boathouse was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was perfect with it being right on the water and near enough to a few towns to go sightseeing. The property manager was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. We will absolutely be back next year for our one year anniversary.
