Relax with the whole family or enjoy a romantic retreat in this cozy cottage by the lake. Enjoy easy access to the lake for boating, swimming and kayaking. Explore nearby off-road UTV and snowmobile trails, or tee off at local golf courses. During the day, you can take advantage of area shopping, dining, groceries, and ice cream. Then, wind down in the evening around a cozy bonfire, or gather for entertainment in our game room making memories that will last for a lifetime!

This place was the perfect spot for us. My husband and I came here for a little weekend getaway. Everything you could think you need was here for you. Everything labeled, tidy, and clean. We enjoyed the game room, fire pit, and close walk to the water! Would definitely stay here again

What a wonderful stay!! Great location, great communication. This home has everything you need and more. Very very clean throughout. Comfortable beds, pillows, slept well. Bathroom full of amenities, very thoughtful array of items, in case you forgot. Plenty of towels, good water pressure. Heater worked well throughout the home, even in 5F degree temps! Comfy living and dining area. Kitchen well stocked with everything you'll need and more. Microwave, toaster oven and coffee counter full of items. Fridge was even stocked with water (which we replaced before leaving). Large Backyard and property well maintained, equipped with grill, bikes, kayaks and more. Close to main road, Walmart, restaurants and Lake Houghton. Most of all, communication from host was kind, thoughtful, just superb. We're looking forward to coming back in Summer! Highly recommended!

Nice getaway for some relaxation

Overall stay was great. The home was very clean and had great amenities. Close to the lake, with lots of good places to eat close by.

We highly recommend this home! What a beautiful, clean, organized, comfortable place to stay! They truly thought of everything we needed and some. They were quick to respond to any questions we had. Walking distance from the lake. Comfortable beds. Our family had a wonderful time!

The Best!

This cottage was the best rental we’ve ever had - there were so many wonderful details covered and everything we needed was provided. It was extremely clean, beds were so comfortable, and communication was great! We loved spending time in the game room, around the campfire, and being so close to the lake. Having access to bikes and kayaks was really cool for our family and we created so many memories! Highly recommend this cottage!

Perfect getaway!

Host was super! House was immaculate when we arrived. She apologized for not having it ready for us sooner because she had to press the pillow cases, above and beyond! It was very well equipped, dishes, pots & pans etc… Very conveniently located. We were there for the 4th of July and it was super hot out. The a/c kept it nice and cool for sleeping as well, both bedrooms had floor fans to help circulate the air. And in case of a rainy day there is a game room and 2 smart TV’s for you to stream your favorite movies or TV with the included WiFi. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the thoughtful little things they have thought of to make your stay more enjoyable. We enjoyed a peaceful fire one night at the fire pit in the cozy back yard. Best vacation rental experience ever. Hope to book it again!

Perfect cottage on Houghton Lake!

If you're looking for a delightful home on Houghton Lake, stop scrolling! Wish we could give it more than 5 stars. The furnishings and amenities are amazing, the home is immaculate, bedding and towels like those at a luxury resort (we asked the owners for a link to purchase them for our own home). There's nothing we would change about our stay. When we had questions, the owners answered immediately (including when we locked ourselves out - totally our fault!) We walked to the lake, less than a block away, every day, tried several of the local restaurants recommended in the Welcome Book, sat by the firepit, played a game in the gameroom, and rented a pontoon from Brian's Marina. Everything you'll need for a wonderful stay is right here!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This was our first family getaway and the Hendershott House blew it out of the water! The house was so welcoming we knew we were on vacation as soon as we opened the door. It literally had everything you could think of and the only thing we needed to get was food! My kids loved hanging out in the gaming room with the garage opened! We walked every night to the end of the road and they went in the water to splash around. The first part is rocky so I would recommend water shoes (both kids cut up their feet the first time). It was wonderful to watch the sunset! <3 the drive to Higgins Lake South State Park was only 20 minutes and it's situated right in between many restaurants and shops! Be sure to check out their welcome book to see what all other guests left as recommendations to do! Thank you Melissa for opening your home to our family!
