Looking for that Ideal, Quiet ..Get-away for two?❤️. The St. Croix is an authentic log cabin nestled on the South Shore of Lake Superior. It is located just 3 miles west of the quaint town of Port Wing,Wi. which is the halfway point between Superior and Bayfield Wisconsin. The views to the big lake are spectacular, as well as a private access to the beach. There is access to the beach- in front of your viewing bench.The cabin is heated by a beautiful gas stove fireplace along with electric wall heat if needed. We provide full fiber internet and a flat screen TV with Dish. Enjoy the log furnishings, along with the loft stairway - leading to a queen log bed in the loft giving you views of the big lake. ( Be sure to use handrails & keep your backside towards the lake when going up and down the stairs.)Once outside you have access to a private fire pit with wood provided. You have a Webber grill available for your use. Enjoy viewing the beautiful sunsets from the log swing (shared by both cabins) or your own private viewing park bench- both located on the bluff. You can walk the 180 feet of sandy beach while looking for agates or skipping rocks, or grab a towel & bring a good book and chill. There are two extra chairs by the fire pit- to bring down to the beach as needed.There’s a basket of brochures in the cabin with suggestions of the various restaurants and tourist attractions in the area. Be sure to check out all the unique waterfalls in the area, along with the numerous hiking trails, biking and kayaking opportunities…
The quaint town of Port Wing offers a great little store called: Johnsons which offers all the basic groceries, along with fresh & smoked fish, and gas. The town has two bar/ restaurants and a great marina and two separate beaches. They even have a coffee shop! The next towns going SE towards Bayfield are Herbster & Cornucopia both have beaches, restaurants and shops to explore. Bayfield is a beautiful town filled with lots to see & do. A must do is to take the ferry and explore Madeline Island… of course.. you may just want to stay at the St. Croix and embrace the sounds & pace of the Big Lake! Watch for the eagles that visit daily along with looking for the big ore boats that seek passage into Duluth. We hope you’ll enjoy this one of a kind place.

We had a fabulous tine at the cozy little cabin and exploring the area. The hosts were very nice and communication was great. They were staying at the other cabin but we hardly ever saw them as they were giving us privacy. Beautiful area! Would stay again, thank you!

The property is a perfect escape for two people. The cabin is cozy and has everything you will need for your getaway. It’s clean, comfortable, and quaint. The property has a wonderful view of the big lake including a nice beach area and a great firepit that overlooks the lake. They also provide the wood for the firepit. Jack and Cherie were perfects hosts and very nice to talk with. The area has lots of nature to explore and is 30 miles from Bayfield. We will definitely be going back and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

Perfection! Beautiful, private lakefront cabin with all of the necessities. Enjoyed spectacular sunsets over Superior from the bluff bench, collected a few rocks from the beach & relaxed by the fire pit. Convenient access to area waterfalls & lake activities. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Already planning a return visit!

A beautiful cabin on Lake Superior! This cabin is so cozy and comfy, just like your favorite sweater. We enjoyed morning coffee on the porch and gorgeous sunsets on the bench overlooking the lake. I love swings and the swing overlooking the lake was perfect! The private, mowed path to the lake was one of the highlights for me a short walk surrounded by native grasses, flowers and raspberry bushes (a little snack- reward for each walk)! The beachfront was easily accessible, and we enjoyed our time at the water on the beach. The private fire pit was so fun for a night out under the starry sky. Oh, the stars!! Our hosts, Jack & Cherie were fabulous! Cherie responded right away with a phone call answer to a question we had. They also offered great suggestions for local attractions & restaurants. A wonderful Northwoods stay! Thank you, Jack & Cherie!

Cozy Cabin on Lake Superior

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. It is such a cozy cabin, very quiet and you have your own private beach on Lake Superior. Short drive to. Cornucopia and Bayfield also. We would definitely stay again.

The cabin was amazing, well kept, and overall very nice. A/c did its job nicely. A nice walkway outside to fire pit was really nice. We did use the fire pit. We didn’t walk down to the water itself as the steps down were too scary for my wife (and me, if I’m honest). I would highly recommend. A fully functional kitchen and Weber grill are there… next time, I’d bring something cook as there weren’t a lot of dining options in the area.

This cabin was absolutely charming—beautifully decorated with a cozy, welcoming feel. The view was stunning, and having easy access to the lake made it even more special. Everything was clean and well-maintained, which made my stay really comfortable.

10 years ago I had a appointment in Bayfield that fell through to the next day. I had never been on the South Shore and had a day to look around. Cherie and I would visit the North Shore two to three times a year. We have not been north of Duluth for over 10 years as we fell in love with the sunsets, sandy beaches, and warmer water. The South Shore has so many outdoor options without the crowds. So much to see and do from Port Wing , Herbster, Cornucopia, Bayfield and Ashland. We are located at the halfway point from Duluth to Bayfield offering the opportunity to visit both during your stay or simply just hunker down at the shore.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

We have always wanted to build a log cabin so somehow we ended up building 2 of them. Starting in spring of 2024 we rent out two twin log cabins. The log cabins are authentic hand hued very cute little houses that folks are really enjoying. Both cabins have everything you need for a short stay. Both cabins have nice views of the South Shore from inside and out. Each cabin have a queen bed in the loft that is ideal for a party of two. We have added a loveseat pull out bed for one additional guest.
