The Little Brick House - Walkable to the Square Dining & Shopping

Welcome to this charming home near the downtown square of Winterset, Iowa. Known for The Bridges of Madison County, this town offers so much to do in a weekend. Our little town offers two wineries, two taprooms, a cidery, a brewery, a meadery and a Speakeasy. Many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors on the sweet little front porch of this home, shopping the square (just 4 blocks away), visiting bridges, hiking the Winterset City Park 2 mile loop or a picnic by the quiet Cedar Lake.

This bungalow was just recently remodeled and provides a peaceful retreat! The primary bedroom has a king bed, tv and attached half bath. The 2nd bedroom features a "cloffice" for office use or cosmetic & hair purposes. It has a day bed with trundle (see photos). There is a full bathroom in between the bedrooms. The living room features a 65" TV. The kitchen has a Keurig with K-cups included or bring your own favorite flavor. Kitchen is stocked with dishes, utensils and pots/pans. Currently the yard is being reworked, however the front porch is a darling space to enjoy coffee or wine!

This little brick house exceeds all expectations! Immaculately clean. Super soft linens and comfy bed. Plush fluffy white towels in the bathroom with a great tub/shower. Decor makes you think you just stepped into a designer showroom. Full kitchen plus a breakfast nook and it even has a coffee bar! Location is next to everything. Best B&B we have ever stayed in and we travel a lot!!!

The little brick house was perfect for us. The coffee bar was an added bonus!!! Loved the front porch. The bed was very comfortable. We also loved the decor!!! It is minutes away from the market town square and all the other attractions. We went to all six of the covered bridges, the John Wayne and Iowa Quilt museum, many of the shops and restaurants there too. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone. Thank you Rochelle for your hospitality!!!

This house was perfect and cozy. We loved our weekend here. Will definitely be back in the future and highly recommend to anyone. The neighborhood is very nice and we enjoyed daily walks. The location near downtown made everything convenient.

We had a wonderful time at this sweet house! It was so quiet and very close to restaurants and shopping. We drove all around and saw all the beautiful bridges of Madison County, and explored the town and park. Clark's Tower was so cool, and everyone was so nice! Rochelle was easy to work with and her place was immaculate. She provided lots of extras, and we would definitely come back again!

An absolutely wonderful place to stay. Comfortable beds, great living room space to relax, and although we didn't really use the kitchen, it was one of the best stocked ones in all of our stays in VRBOs. Definitely will stay here again when in the area!

Peaceful. Reminded me of my great-grandparent's 1920s era home I used to visit, though with modern conveniences. Well-appointed. Pleasant, short walk to the town square. Enjoyable stay at reasonable cost. When back in Winterset will try to book again.

House was nice and clean. Easily accessible and accommodating. Beds were comfortable and roomy, bathrooms were clean and nice. Coffee bar was well stocked. If I had to name something off, it was how hard it was to close the back door. Once we figured out to just use some muscle, it was better. We loved it and would come back again.

This was an amazing house to rent. It was super cute and clean. It was walkable to the downtown. We stayed during the Bridges of Madison County festival and we were able to walk there. The host was great at communicating. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Winterset.

From the ease of booking and checkin this quaint bungalow was a fantastic find. Perfectly located in such a walkable fun town and lots of things to do. The house is perfectly appointed with just the right amount of furniture and amenities…it has the most comfortable beds and a completely home like feel. I will definitely book this house again and again whenever I make the trip to Iowa! The host Rochelle goes above and beyond and provides so much information on the area. Top notch service!

This was a very clean, recently updated house in an excellent location near downtown. The furnishings, decorations, and kitchen furnishings were perfect. The second bedroom only has a twin day bed with a lower twin bed that pulls out. This was disclosed and it was comfortable. Overall a great property and recommend for parties of 4 or less.

My friend and I both recently lost our husbands to cancer, we met at this lovely little house to grieve, share, and heal. The house made us both feel at home. We chose the following words to describe this spot: charming, warm, homey, whimsical, clean, comfortable, chic. Rochelle was an attentive host, leaving us a note about recommendations of things to do in the area and alerting us to what was open each day of our weekend. This little brick house is big in comfort and warmth and reflects the warmth of the host.

Oh my goodness where do I begin?Very clean, beautifully updated bungalow with all the charm possible! All the basic things you need for a stay are available, one of the BEST stocked kitchen with not only utensils but cooking basics. Comfortable king bed (only 2 of us) but both bedrooms lovely! LOVED the 1/2 bath right off the King room!! And the kitchen nook? a sweet place to have coffee and watch all the birds, squirrels :0) Table also has a tray with all the local tour and eatery information for review.Location is perfect to the square and most attractions, easy walk from the neighborhood. We really enjoyed eating at The Drift (Meaghan was great!!) & the pastries from Petite.Last, but certainly not least, Rochelle is a very attentive, friendly, and kind host, a guest couldn't ask for better! We will be back...we came for a wedding but who knew Winterset was a find!! Thank you Rochelle!

Rochelle is an excellent host! Had one minor glitch, and Rochelle was quick to respond and took care of the issue immediately!The property was just as described!So quaint, well furnished, great decor, excellent combination of modern amenities in a beautiful older home.Great walking accessibility to activities in the downtown area with good restaurants, great shopping and friendly people!Will definitely recommend to family and friends!

The Little Brick House was lovely. Our host thought of everything. It was clean, decorated beautifully, within walking distance to many things. The front porch is a plus and very nice for morning coffee and perfect for a quiet evening. The neighborhood was peaceful - no barking dog, light traffic. You won't be disappointed.

This property was everything it was described it to be. The host was friendly and helpful, even offered to buy coffee one morning! Not sure I'll be back to Madison County any time soon but, if I am I would certainly stay here again.
