While this cozy rental isn't directly on the lake, you'll still fall in love with its beautifully appointed interiors and the full Green Lake experience it offers. This inviting and immaculate home features:

Main Level: Two comfortable bedrooms and a shared bathroom, plus a bright, sun-filled kitchen with a breakfast bar, dining area, and sitting space with a fireplace and flatscreen TV. A separate living room provides the perfect spot for reading or watching another flatscreen TV. The screened-in front porch, with its large windows, offers a stunning lake view.

Lower Level: Three additional bedrooms and a second bathroom provide ample space for family and friends.

Outdoor Spaces: Enjoy morning coffee or a relaxing meal on the charming side deck off the kitchen while taking in breathtaking sunsets. Another deck behind the house is ideal for sunbathing, reading, or napping. The spacious backyard is perfect for lawn games like bags or croquet, and a fire pit invites cozy evenings under the stars.

Situated at 448 South Street, this cottage is just 2 blocks to downtown, 1.5 blocks from the Green Lake Marina, where you can rent or dock watercraft. The picturesque Hattie Sherwood Beach is within easy walking distance, and a larger beach awaits at County Park on the lake’s west end.

We did not use Fireplace. It was good view but of inlet and not the lake. The house was very clean and had great amenities. The only draw back was the trundel bed on the main floor. The matress was like sleeping in a hot dog bun. The pull out bed in the same room wasn't comfortable.Our group enjoyed our stay.

Back Pond Cottage is a wonderful place for family or friends to stay while experiencing all that Green Lake has to offer. Our family has enjoyed the warm and welcoming home that JoEllen has provided for a number of years, and we always look forward to returning. This year we were grateful for the kind return of a forgotten item. This lovely home is furnished with everything you might needfor a relaxing and comfortable stay. Its in-town location is very convenient, and the views from the porch and deck are scenic and peaceful. We could not ask for more.

We had great family time with our family. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed. It was close to downtown and a short walk to the marina where we had our boat.

It is a wonderful property! The house is adorable and has everything that you will need. There are views of the water, a screened in porch and 2 decks. We roasted marshmellows and the kids played outside. We walked downtown to the Art Fair, which is only minutes away. We have stayed there 3 times and will come again!

The property was beyond belief....this was by far the best maintained property we have ever stayed at. And we have stayed at many from AZ to Northwoods of WI and this a must-book gem. The deck looks brand new, windows, screens, appliances all taken care of by the owners which I believe leads to guests making the same effort (I broke a glass drinking tumbler and after my son couldn't find one on line to replace it we simply informed the hosts and received a simple but heartfelt "thanks" for letting us know. It's what makes this home like you want to treat it like it's your own. Beautiful accommodations and plenty of room for many more (we were a family of 6 adults a 3-year old) and there were still ample sleeping accommodations for even more. Loved it and we hope to be back next summer. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us. We're very grateful —Barrinigton, IL

We had another great stay at the Back Pond Cottage! It’s our fave house to rent in Green Lake because it’s walkable to downtown, the marina and beach. While the house doesn’t have lake access, it has pretty views of the lake and a great deck for watching sunsets. It also has thoughtful extras like lawn chairs for watching concerts in the park and a shed for storing golf clubs and water/boat toys.

Great house! Great location! Very clean!

Had a great week on Green Lake. This house is ideal location to town. Teens can walk and get an ice cream, fishing things, snacks, etc. House had everything you would need. Front screened in porch was great because the mosquitos do get quite bad at night. Would definitely recommend and we can’t wait to come back!

We had another great stay at the Back Pond Cottage! We love its in-town location - less than a five-minute walk to restaurants, coffee shops and the marina. We stayed with another family - a total of five kids - so the quick walk to the marina made it easy to get out on our boat. Bonus - the marina offers free 3-hour public boat parking. And we enjoyed lots of great hiking at the GL Conference Center nearby. The kids especially loved the trek up to the top of Judson Tower for a birds-eye-view of the lake (ask to borrow the tower key from the front desk at the Kraft Center!).

Everything was perfect during our weekend stay at the Back Porch Cottage in Green Lake! Our host Jo Ellen couldn’t have been more wonderful. The location was exactly what we wanted with an easy walk to the lake, beach, restaurants and bars. Our family really enjoyed our stay and hope to go back again! 5 stars!

Wonderful Home

We have enjoyed staying at Back Pond Cottage several times, and it continues to provide a wonderful setting for our multi-generational family of ten to be together while enjoying the beauty of Green Lake. JoEllen's lovely home is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. The great room with a cozy fireplace and the deck with firepit are great for group gathering, yet there are spaces for quiet moments or games as well. The home is furnished with anything you might need for an enjoyable stay. JoEllen is a great host, and we appreciate the updates she has made each year. We all look forward to returning next year.

Our fave place to stay in Green Lake!

We’ve stayed at the Back Pond Cottage the last five summers and our most recent stay was wonderful like always. Jo Ellen is a great host, the home is clean, and the layout is perfect for two families with kids. Great deck with dining table and views of the lake, plus a fire table. We’ll be back!

A Perfect Retreat and Family Place

We so enjoyed our time there. We have a couple special needs people as well as older adults and there were spaces for everyone to connect and spaces to go for small groups and spaces to be alone, as well as the wonderful area activities around Green Lake.

Excellent Stay at Back Pond Cottage Guest House!

We just enjoyed a 5 day stay at this beautiful home! Back Pond Cottage easily accommodated our crew of 10 people, ranging in ages from 7 years to the 70s. The home is within a block walk of Green Lake, the downtown shops and restaurants, and a 10 minute ride to multiple golf courses. Our host Jo Ellen is easy to work with, very friendly and responsive. We highly recommend BPC!

We are a fun-loving family from Evanston IL who have enjoyed Green Lake for over 30 years. Our home is Back Pond Cottage at 442 South Street and we rent our Back Pond Cottage GUEST HOUSE next door at 448 South Street.

Our guest house is cozy, clean, charming and close to downtown Green Lake. It's a few blocks from Deacon Mills Park & Wharf, and an easy walk to Hattie Sherwood Beach. Great space for family gatherings, girls' getaway, a place to rest if attending EAA or a Golf Tournament.

This home is so beautiful. The size is perfect and tastefully decorated. You'll love the way it's laid out, the views, the happy feeling you have when you step into the home. The gardens are like Monet's and it is just charming! Easy to walk to town and enjoy all the special events, concerts in the park, concerts at Thrasher Opera House, farmers market, community center, fitness center, and more!
