When you step out of this cozy two bedroom apartment, you'll find yourself at the foot of Mount Tâmpa a few steps away from the Main Square & Pedestrian Street. Everything will be at your fingertips, the apartment has a fully equipped kitchen and nearby you'll find a farmer's market, a supermarket, great restaurants and more. The house is one of the very few within the old city walls which has a courtyard, where you have the possibility to park your car (for free).

The house is located within the Old City Walls (although most of these aren't visible today), and it stands where one of the four city gates used to be (the Black Street Gate, thus the name: Black Gate Apartment :). The house was built during the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the 1900s and it was used as a bank, which is why the wide stairwell is rather unique. During Communism, the building was adapted for working class dwelling and while things have changed a lot, you will notice that the apartment (and the building) has unique quirks and squeaky wooden floors which testify to its history.

The apartment is on the 1st floor (no elevator), and is equipped to make your stay as enjoyable and pleasant as possible. The two independent bedrooms are private and comfy. One bedroom has a queen bed (1.54x2.0 sqm) and beautiful wooden furniture, while the other has a double/full bed (1.4x2.0sqm) and traditional, hand-painted furniture. Both beds are equipped with memory foam mattresses.

If you want to prepare a yummy breakfast or a gourmet meal from the produce you bought at the nearby farmer's market & supermarket, you can easily do so as the kitchen has all the equipment you would need (refrigerator & freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, induction cooktop, electric oven, pots and pans, espresso machine and toaster). The round table in the dining area can fit up to five people, whether you're having breakfast, a glass of local beer or wine after a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant, or playing board games after a whole day of visiting. The sofa bed in the open space living room is a cozy place to watch TV from, but can also serve as an extra sleeping space (1.4x1.9 sqm bed) for one or two people. Everything was recently renovated, including the bathroom, and has a walk-in shower. In order to understand why Romania is in the top 10 countries worldwide regarding internet speed, you will have to try the optic fiber internet & WiFi available in the apartment. Adjustable heating, towels, linen, kitchenware, toiletries, local herbal teas, coffee and more are at your disposal free of charge.

The apartment is very close to everything: you'll have to walk only 2 minutes to reach the Main Pedestrian Street (Strada Republicii), 8 minutes to the Main Square (Piața Sfatului) and 5 minutes to reach the Tâmpa Mount Promenade. Two of our favorite restaurants (Festival 39 and Simone) are 2 minutes away, and you'll get to most noteworthy coffee shops and pubs in 10 minutes. Also, it takes only 5 minutes to get to the supermarket, farmer's market and an ATM or exchange office.
