Sobre esta propriedade
PB Larkin Victorian Mansion-4200 Sq. Ft Pet Safe Beautifully Preserved 1865 Home
Just minutes from Crane Naval Base, W. Boggs/Patoka Lake, French Lick and historic downtown Loogootee, the PB Larkin Mansion is a beautifully preserved 1865 home with the perfect blend of Old Victorian and modern conveniences. Within its 4200 square foot home, there are 4 large bedrooms with tall ceilings and exquisite hallways. The backyard has a spacious and beautiful 1 Acre fenced in yard with a firepit and swing. There is enough driveway to park a boat!
This beautifully preserved Old Victorian 1865 home has many large, color themed (replica design of the time) living spaces with tall ceilings. It was first owned by PB Larkin, a wealthy merchant in Loogootee, IN who had a large family. At the time, his home was considered a mansion, and is still considered so.
The home has 4 bedrooms. They all come with smart TVs for today's age and closets/armoires/dressers to store clothing. Most of the furniture is antique and still practical to use. Some however is not but signs will be posted to guide you. And you can always contact the host who is very responsive.
The home can sleep 8 comfortably but there are plenty of very comfortable couches to accommodate 1 or 2 more. There are also locks/security hooks on the bedroom doors to ensure full privacy. The pink and yellow rooms have an extended room suite door that can be opened to allow interchange between the two bedrooms.
Some of the painting on the walls and furniture are custom (like the yellow room and pantry). The paintings are themed to match the famous painters of the time (Van Gogh, Monet, etc).
In addition to bedrooms, the house has a full dining room, full kitchen, game room/lounge, full living room and office/library. The backyard is very spacious and comes with a swing set, firepit and BBQ Grill. There is also a small lavender garden which can be seen from the kitchen window.
There are many, many more small details on this house, which if told, would ruin the adventure of going back in time as you enjoy this antique treasure!

Sobre o anfitrião
Seu anfitrião
Hello there! I'm Joe and am aerospace engineer. But my real passion is languages and cultures though. That's why I love to travel, domestically or abroad, to learn about others and the places they live in. I look forward to hosting you. I want you to know that you can always expect respect, transparency and clear communication from me.
Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade
Loogoote is such a small but charming town. My family and I came here for work and have enjoyed the quiet and peaceful neighborhood.
O que faz essa propriedade ser única?
History! History! History! Oh If the walls could talk. The PB Larkin Mansion has witnessed 160+ years of US History. From the cellar that stored coal to heat all the fireplaces (and possibly may have been part of the Underground Railroad to Indianapolis), to the enduring charm of a city in the National Register of Historic Places, the mansion has been restored and staged to represent a Victorian era mansion from the late 1800's.
