The Barn House is located just 11 miles east of Wisconsin Dells on beautiful Lake Mason. You will enjoy your own private sandy bottom shallow lake frontage with an 80 ft dock. Lake Mason is known for great swimming, fishing and boating!

Great for winter getaways too for ice fishing, skiing, snowmobiling or just settling in for a warm cozy weekend. We even have a bubble with heater to hang out under the stars!

This exquisite creation incorporates rustic charm with modern amenities. You can enjoy all the comforts of home while kickin' back and relaxing by the fire pit, stone patio or enjoying the atmosphere in the great room with vaulted ceilings. This is one of the vacation home rentals that is worlds apart from the rest. It has every thing you need for the perfect family vacation. NO PARTIES ALLOWED.

Our 6th stay was as perfect as our first 5 visits. The Barnhouse is perfectly equipped, the lake is a dream, it's close to the Dells (but far enough away to take a true break from the Dells), and it has been a backdrop for very special memories year after year for my family. We were so grateful to have this little slice of paradise to share with a new generation of little ones this year!

We all had a great time. The barn was very well made into a house. Great interior and lots of places to get away to be by yourself if needed. The only complaint we had and heard were the beds. But that’s any where you go. The barn and lake together really was an awesome setting and the Dells and Portage were a very short drive away.

Golf n Relaxing

We really enjoyed our stay. The property had a beautiful lakeview and plenty of space for our group. We were far enough away from the dells to be away from the dells if you know what I mean but also close enough to enjoy some of the golf courses and restaurants.

Fantastic Lake Getaway

I booked the Lake Mason Barn House for a golf trip with some friends, and it did not disappoint! The check-in process was seamless, and the house itself was perfect for our big group. We loved the sandy-bottomed lake, as well as the proximity to the Dells for golf and dining. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Girls Weekend

5 lifelong friends who now are scattered all over the US gathered at the Barn for a happy reunion. The house was wonderful for us, and gave us lots of great spaces to hangout. Property was spotless. Thank you for sharing this haven with us.

Family time

Kids loved the stairways and the loft. We used both docks at the same time with all the kids fishing. Of course the evening fire with the s’mores was a hit as well. We rotate chefs each evening and the cooks all enjoyed the kitchen setup. The long dock was easy for us to dock our rented pontoon boat and get the kids on and off. An all around great week.

It just keeps getting better!!

Our third annual Barnhouse family reunion was another great success, and I owe most of that to this property. It has plenty for everyone! We enjoy the lake and kayaks, s'mores, big family dinners, a quick trip into the Dells for the kids to hit up the shops, and just being together in a beautiful setting! I'm so thankful to Robyn and her family for sharing this lovely home with us, and we are already counting down the days before our next visit. Thank you again so much!!

Comfortable and clean

Our group of 11 enjoyed our stay. We didn't spend much time at the house but it worked well for us while we were there. It had everything we needed and plenty of space for sleeping. The check in process was easy and the owners were helpful and easy to contact. The check out process was clearly explained. We had to hustle a bit to get everyone packed up, the house tidied up, towels and bedding into the laundry room and all the dishes cleaned and put away before 10 am but it was doable.

Always Fantastic!

The Barn House has something for everyone and is our favorite way to "do the Dells." After a day of wall-to-wall tourists, this nearby retreat at Lake Mason is an amazing place to come home to. And if you'd rather not brave the crowds, it's a wonderful place to hang out all day long, too (we do honestly tend to be homebodies when we stay). It's a beautiful home away from it all, and we enjoy kayaking, fishing from the dock, the very well-stocked kitchen for home cooked meals, wonderful bonfire area (with firewood provided!), and the lake itself--bathtub temperature with a nice, gradual slope out that allows the little ones to splash around safely in the shallow water. It truly cannot be beat!

Our favorite part of every July

We just wrapped up our 6th reunion vacation at the Barnhouse, and it was a great as it's ever been. The hosts are wonderful, the house is provisioned magnificently (cooking for 12 is a breeze, especially with addition of a Blackstone this year--what a treat!) As we've gotten older over the years, mobility has gotten to be a challenge for some of us, and the Barnhouse is perfect for keeping our less-spritely safe and comfortable, too. There is no better home base for venturing into the Dells--it's good to spend a day there in the madness, but always nice to return to the serene calm and quiet of this beautiful treasure on the lake. We're already looking forward to next year!

Great Spot for our Annual Friends Trip

Beautiful, clean & unique property with easy access to the Dells. We had plenty of room and amenities for 6 adults and 5 kids ages 5-9. The kitchen + outdoor grill & patio was very well equipped for cooking. Additionally, we had ample access to paddle boards, kayaks and a paddle boat; as well as firewood for the evenings. Lake Mason is a shallow & “not clear” lake, though neither were an issue during our stay, but something to be aware of based on personal preferences. Robyn was incredibly pro active and quick to assist with our inquiries; we would absolutely recommend for future guests. Thank you for sharing your home!

Huge House!

We loved our stay at the Barnhouse! More than enough room for large families. Robyn greeted us when we arrived and showed us all around the property and explained everything we needed to know. Everything worked perfectly. The nice patio in the back offers a relaxing view of the lake, and the firepit and comfortable chairs around it gave us a good view of someone setting off fireworks across the lake! Swimming on the nice sandy bottomed area around the pier felt wonderful on these past few days with temps in the 90s. A rowboat, paddleboat, canoe, and three kayaks were available to us, so some exercise on the calm early-morning lake was very welcome. All in all, it was a great stay and we recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing lake house vacation.

Family getaway

The house was immaculate inside and very cozy and homey. The kitchen had all the utensils and pans we needed. Living room and dining room very spacious. The only thing is the air conditioning didn't provide a lot of cool air with the heat and humidity in some of the rooms. The outside patio table and fire pit area very nice. The other nice thing was that we were allowed to bring our dog but do feel it is important to be sure you pick up after them. We had a beautiful view of the lake from inside the house and the patio. Very relaxing! I would highly recommend the Barnhouse to family. Thank you. Ellen

So happy you enjoyed your stay at the Barnhouse. Sorry to hear that some rooms did not get as cool as you wanted. I noticed that you didn't set the main cooling unit to air conditioning. It was actually set to dehumidifier mode only which just takes the humidity out of the air and keeps the fan to low. I wish you would have contacted me as I would have helped you change the setting. I assure you that if the setting was on air conditioning, it would have provided ample cooling air to all rooms. We hope you will consider the barnhouse for your next family vacation. We will make sure the house is nice and cool!! :)

Incredible again!!

Our second annual Barnhouse reunion was every bit as nice as the first! This property cannot be beat in any way (and this high-praise comes from a seasoned VRBO guest... I've stayed in dozens of homes, and none can compete with this one). Not only is the structure beautiful and super-convenient for sleeping a large group, the setting is beautiful, the lake is wonderfully warm and sandy-bottomed with a very gradual slope out to the deep (lots of safe room for the littles to splash around), and the care the owners put into ensuring their guests want for nothing is unparalleled. We even had a day of thunderstorms and heavy rain, and my folks were just telling me that was their favorite part of the stay because it brought the whole family together in that beautiful open great room, listening to the rain on the roof, completing puzzles, watching old movies, and playing games. This is a treat for us every year, and I cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you so much, Ogden family, for sharing your special retreat with us!!

Perfection!!

Our family has been coming to the Barnhouse for years, and it just keeps getting better.... new additions to the fun every single time!! A stone's throw from the madness in the Dells but a WORLD away (this water park beats anything the Dells has got, too. :-) ) Beautiful (stunning, really) home, wonderful quiet lake--with plenty of shallows for the little ones. Such a treat to see the swim platform out (spent lots of time there), and the kayaks and pedal boat all get a workout when we visit. S'mores by the fire, cornhole boards, perfectly-equipped kitchen (we cook like maniacs)... This is just a wonderful gathering place for us, and we'll be back year after year for as long as these gracious hosts will have us! (Can't wait to see how the wildflower patch takes off by this time next year!!) Thank you, Robyn and family, for sharing your perfect slice of paradise with us!

Labor of Love

My name is Robyn Ogden. My husband Dan and I have owned property on Lake Mason for the past 17 years. We have 3 kids that have grown up on Lake Mason and spending wonderful family time there, fishing, boating, floating, sitting by the fire pit, signing karaoke, cooking great food, playing hockey on our ice rink in the winter or just hanging out watching a movie on cold or rainy days.

Our current place on the lake we call “The Barnhouse” It has been a labor of love over the past 14 years or so. We purchased the lot because of the lake's great sandy bottom area and large level lot. When looking at what we wanted to build on the lot, we just couldn’t find what we really wanted. To be honest, I don’t know that we really knew what we wanted. One day we were inside our barn at our home 50 miles from the lake. We started looking around and seeing the beauty of the barn that was constructed with rough sawn and hand crafted timbers and wooden pegs in the early 1890’s. We started thinking how amazing it would be if we made that into our lake house. Well the journey began shortly thereafter…

Piece by piece, the barn was disassembled and numbered, then sandblasted, sorted and prepared for transport. With very limited resources we began the process one little bit at a time. Foundation one year, timber frame the next year and so on…we moved at a snail’s pace but each and every detail was done to perfection. We designed every aspect of the house to accommodate our family and have plenty of space for entertaining guests. We love to share our space with others looking to relax and enjoy lake living as much as we do.
