PRIVATE and peaceful! The property is in the middle of trophy hunting and fishing areas, Lewis & Clark Forest are just a few minutes from the house and gateway to the Bob Marhsall Wilderness, Glacier National Park and the Boone & Crockett's Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch. This house has the best view of the mountains on the entire property and offers the most private and tranquil setting. Enjoy this warm and enveloping home with all of the modern conveniences and amenities! The house is a Single Family Dwelling, in the Carriage House tradition, located in a very private setting. There are 2 bedrooms (1 room with a firm California King bed that will sleep 2 and 1 room with a firm Queen bed that will sleep 2), plus a queen sofa bed in the living room that will sleep 2. 1 roomy bathroom with a full walk-in shower and 1 powder bath room. The kitchen is outfitted with all the modern conveniences - microwave oven, dishwasher, range and refrigerator and small appliances, like coffee pot, crockpot, mixer, etc. We have a comfortable dining area and living room. High speed WiFi and wireless streaming service for a flat screen TV viewing, landline phone for local calls. Forced air heating and air conditioning. Very comfortable and roomy for 6 people. Due to no dogs allowed in the main living area, it is dog hair and dander free for those with allergies and asthma brought on by animal allergies. View the Rocky Mountains Sawtooth Range looking west and the rolling prairies and buttes to the east. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets. The house is set on a hill among limber pines and fir trees with the living room windows facing the Sawtooth Mt. Range. The Teton River flows east out of the canyons and across the bottom of the property's north border. We are within 3 minutes drive of the South Fork Canyon and 5 minutes to the West and North Fork Canyons, leading into the mountains and numerous trails, with 100's of miles of hiking and horse trailheads. Booked by artists, writers, sportsmen, hikers, families and more.

Mountain Retreat

Sweet little place with great views for watching the sun go down behind the mountains every night. Very close to trails into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Diana and Dan (and Annie 🐶) were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend

Wonderful view!

We stayed at this property to use it as a base camp for a day trip to Glacier National Park and relax for a few days. The house is well stocked with everything that you could need and the view out the living room windows is amazing! Thanks again for sharing your property with us!

Everything about this property by far exceeded our expectations! The pictures don’t do the scenery justice, it’s absolutely breathtaking, the perfect place to have a relaxing vacation and plenty of exploring to be done. Our hosts were amazing as well and helpful. Wonderful Vacation. Nice Location For Day Trips. Very Peaceful Place.

The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I liked that everything is labeled, organized, and clean. The mountain views were spectacular. I'm not sure I have ever been to a location so quiet. When the wind is calm you can hear the horses goofing around. Very special place with very nice hosts and community. Can't wait to return.

Beautiful View

Very pleased with the house. It was perfect for us. Well stocked, clean, and nicely decorated. Owner is very attentive and helpful. The view is absolutely beautiful! House is located near the Lewis and Clark National Forest. Lots to do!

Great getaway!

We stayed here for a week. It was very clean, with all the amenities you can think of. It was nice having a washer/dryer after over a week on the road. Diana & Dan were wonderful to deal with when we had a couple of self-imposed problems. We were able to get ahold of them right away and they were very kind & patient. We very much appreciated that! We highly recommend this place!

Montana Beautiful.

The property was as advertised. Quiet, beautiful, and in perfect working order. The house was well stocked with everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. The hosts were quite responsive to anything you needed and provided updates on local activities going on. Overall—EXCELLENT!!

Wouldn’t stay any where else!

My husband and I stayed at the Homestead for a couple of nights and as soon as we pulled up, it was already more than we had imagined! The view you get alone is worth every penny. Everything was so clean and all the necessities were there which made our trip go even smoother than planned. It’s such a cozy place and the small touches truly put it above most other stays! We would certainly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area and we hope to stay at this beautiful property again in the future.

Fantastic view

This small neighborhood close to base of mountains was perfect for us. Relatives were staying nearby and we have relatives who live nearby as well. The house has steep stairs so wouldn’t be good for people with physical issues. I hope to come back to this house. It was well equipped for everything we needed.

Best view of Montana!

Great home, with a view that can not be beat! Well stocked kitchen and all the comfort of home. With high summer heat, the AC did great and kept us cool. We so enjoyed the Choteau Fourth of July parade, steak fry and rodeo! The hike to Hidden lake is second to none! The area is beautiful, and this home puts you in it! Martin

Peaceful Retreat

This is a very peaceful place to spend a few days recharging one’s batteries after the crazy year this has been. The rental is super clean and very well equipped. The beds are comfy and the views are as advertised. Loved spending time outside with our pre dinner drinks listening to the birds, and later in the evening watching the sun go down behind the Rockies. Diana and Dan were quick to answer enquiries, specifically about fishing spots for the hubs to get some R&R. Thanks again for enabling us spend time here.

Nice accommodations

The kitchen is very nice with some lovely dishes as well as anything you would need to prepare a meal. The home is tastefully decorated with vintage items as well as many interesting accent prices. The owner was really nice to work with and helpful too. She seems to be a very genuine and sincere person which is a rarity these days. Thank u.

Great Experience!

Remote but what an experience. Was a little unsettling driving down the gravel road expecting perhaps to see bears and elk, but was thrilled to see how perfect the property matched the great reviews we had read! Very clean, spacious, and had everything you need. We were there four nights and enjoyed every minute. Take the drive through the Lewis and Clark National Forest for an unforgettable experience! If driving after dark watch for beautiful elk and deer—they are everywhere! And lastly, make sure you take in the Glacier National Park—we have visited many National Parks and Glacier ranks at the very top!

Everything You Need

This cabin is one of the most well stocked VRBO's I have ever rented. The kitchen has every tool or pan we wanted, which is helpful since this is definitely a cabin in a scenic area - why would we want to go to a restaurant! We 5 adults had plenty of space for sleeping and relaxing. The table provided a good spot for family games and we used the barbecue both nights. Diana was quite helpful with information about the area and provided good notes around the house about where to find supplies and how to make things work. In addition to kitchen utensils, we found a nice supply of "extras" like salt, pepper, coffee filters, oil, condiments and drinking water. We would definitely recommend renting this cabin.

Serene, Spectacular Views, Beautiful Home

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful piece of heaven with us, we enjoyed the peace and quiet of this seduced yet easily accessible home. We were impressed with the overall cleanliness, the fun decor, and the well-stocked kitchen. Wild Flowers, and green grass were abundant from the recent spring rains. Close to town yet very remote and private. Good access road. Plenty of wild and scenic areas to explore, trail heads nearby. This is a beautiful place, and Diana was easy and friendly to book and communicate with. This home has everything you need for an enjoyable, memorable vacation. All the necessities of home without any of the stress. Thanks so much for everything! Mary

Guest House with a VIEW, and everything you need for a Great getaway

As many previous Guests have said: "This home is a wonderful place to stay for a long time". Clean, with everything you need to kick back and enjoy the Montana ranch land. Best VRBO beds around, kitchen has everything, and I really mean "Everything". Beautiful surroundings and lots of sights to see from the Guest House, as others have mentioned. Mary is a Artist and found the views to be insperational, so, she put it to canvas. Great piece of work which she gave to Diana and Dan as a "Special Thanks" for making our visiut to Montana such a wonderful experiance. We have family in northern Montana and we are looking forward to a return to this wonderful Guest House in the future. BYW, Our views of the mountains in Tucson are spectacular, however, the views from the Guest House give new meaning to spectular. Whoever is up next to the Guest House is going to love it. Excellent property

I booked this property for a vacation for my 17 y/o daughter, 13 y/o son, girlfriend and me. My goal was to find a nice remote place that still had modern amenities for when we got back from a day of hiking, sightseeing, etc. This property was in excellent condition. For use by us renters was the two-car parking pad, entering into the downstairs where there was a full bath, washer/dryer, and place to leave our shoes. We then go up the stairs to the family room and kitchen. Finally there were the two bedrooms. There was also a half-bath upstairs and a pantry. The kitchen was stocked very nicely, including bottled water, plenty of cooking utentils, pans, etc.. What was nice was that the owners also stocked the kitchen with those things that you hate to have to buy if you're going to cook/eat in---ketchup, mustard, mayo, salt and pepper, flour, vegetable oil---all this was already found so we didn't have to worry about that. Despite being there in mid-July, we rarely found a need for the a/c. Large windows with a nice cross-draft kept us cool overnight. Every room was nicely-decorated, lots of lights, and ceiling fans. It really was like being in our home away from home! No real criticisms. The water does have a bit of a sulfur smell, but that is to be expected this far out in the country. And again, the owners provided us with plenty of bottled drinking water. The nearest town is 20 or so minutes away, so assess what you need, what the owners already have, make a list, and do one trip. There is a grill (barbecue as I believe it's called in the west), however I couldn't get it quite as hot as I prefer for the steaks we were grilling. The steaks cooked fine, just not seared to my preference. Small issues, indeed! ( : We all loved the property, and I would not hesitate recommending it to a family of four, and I will definitely consider it the next time we plan a trip to Montana! Thanks for everything!

Birthday getaway

This place is perfect for a getaway from the city. Although close enough to a small town that you can still get groceries and other things easily. The hosts were amazing at communicating before the trip and we had no problems during our stay!

Quiet get away off the beaten path.

Lovely home near Teton Pass Ski Area. Fall Wedding brought us to the area. We took a day trip to Glacier easy traveling from property. Stock up in nearby Choteau or Great Falls if flying in. Nice decor, nicely furnished. Hosts are great.

Unlike most vacation rentals, we did not buy this property. This is a family owned property passed down through 4 generations to the present owner, whose great grandparents homesteaded the ranch in 1919 raising both sheep and cattle. Originally, it was the Bar-Lazy K-Triangle, but since we no longer raise livestock, it's known as the Moore Homestead. There is a sign inside the gated entrance, stating the name of the property, to help visitors identify where they are. The area is a Hunter's Paradise, but there is no hunting allowed on the property, although we are extremely close to state and federal lands where hunting is allowed. There is a meat processor in town. For the fisherman, the waterways have cutthroat (catch and release only), rainbow, brook and brown trout. The lakes and reservoirs have perch, walleye and trout. Hundreds of miles of trails in the nearby mountains.

This property is situated in a dramatically beautiful setting, rather like straddling two different worlds. Set in the foothills of the Rockies; to the west sits the Rocky Mountain Sawtooth Range and to the east are the rolling prairies and buttes. Two distinctly different eco-systems. The canyons are made of glacier carved granite and have the look of Yosemite National Park on a smaller scale with a variety of conifers and aspen and hanging Alpine valleys. We are extremely close, just minutes from the Lewis and Clark National Forest and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Our area is the 'Gateway' to Glacier National Park and the Boone & Crockett's Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch. This uniquely beautiful area has inspired many a writer and artist and has been included in numerous books and novels. The late Pulitzer Prize winner, A.B. Guthrie, (whose lands borders ours), was inspired by the area and it's western history to write many of his stories. ('The Way West', 'The Big Sky', the movie script for, 'Shane', among them.) Other books made into movies based in the area were 'The Horse Whisperer' and 'Legends of the Fall'. Maybe your artistic side will be inspired, too! Historically, this area is the site of fossil finds, Native American hunting grounds, Lewis & Clark Expedition, cattle & sheep ranches and wheat & barley farmers.

The close up views of the mountains; watching the colors change throughout the day, on those rock and slab behemoths, creates its own enchantment. Ripe with wildlife in the area, hunters, fishermen and photo enthusiasts will LOVE this area! A person can have as much quiet and serenity as they need or as much activity as they can handle, depending on what the vacationer's needs and abilities are. If you are looking to 'just getaway', this vacation home is the perfect retreat for your needs! This is the most private and tranquil spot on the entire ranch! For indoor times, there are books, games, wireless Internet access and wireless streaming TV. Updated furniture and appliances completes the comfort level! Close by are 100's of miles of mountain trails for hiking, lake fishing, fly fishing, small game and big game hunting - both bow and rifle, bird watching and numerous scenic vistas for photo and other artistic opportunities. The town of Choteau offers a museum, antiques shop, heated community swimming pool, a theater, golf, bowling (not open for a quarter of the year, during summer), A small museum of the area's history, restaurants and eateries. A small town 10 miles north of Choteau, named Bynum, offers a dinosaur museum and a very reasonably priced rock shop with many unique finds. If you are a rodeo fan, periodically, there are rodeos held at the Choteau Fair Grounds. A fiddler's contest in the summer and an art auction in the fall. The Choteau Visitor's Center has numerous brochures and information. The U.S. Forest Service also has a building in town, where anyone can gather maps and information on what to do and where to go in the mountains and for hunting and fishing regulations. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is advisable in the late fall, for snow.
