Escape to this private mountain farm house in picturesque Mentone, Alabama, located on 1-1/3 acres with lake views! Located behind Boy Scout Camp Comer and just 10 minutes from Desoto State Park! This 2200 SF farm house has a charming board and batten exterior with a stone foundation and metal roof and is located on an elevated corner lot. There are no houses "next door" so you'll enjoy plenty of privacy during your stay. Once you come up the driveway, you'll enter the house through the front porch which has two wide steps and a ramp. The front porch is a cozy, hang-out spot with two Cracker Barrel rocking chairs and a wooden porch swing. It's decorated with several local art pieces and a hand-painted cabinet. You'll enter the house from the porch through double mahogany French doors decorated with wreaths and step into the entry area of the dining room, kitchen and great room open floor plan.

This large farm house has 4 bedrooms and 3-1/2 bathrooms and will accommodate up to 12 guests. PLEASE NOTE: The base rate for renting is for 8 guests and there is a $25/night fee for each additional guest after 8 up to 12 guests maximum. Please enter the correct number of guests you will have in your group. Huckleberry Haven has 2 exterior cameras on the property for security reasons and we will know how many guests are staying at our home during each booked visit. Thank you in advance for logging the correct number of guests with VRBO when booking!

There are 2 bedrooms located on the main floor and 2 upstairs. Right off the great room is a king-size bedroom with a smart television and an ensuite bathroom that has a soaker tub and shower combination and a vanity with 2 sinks. There is also a stacking full-size washer and dryer, an ironing board and iron, and a folding step stool located in this bath area. At the opposite end of the main floor down a hallway is a single queen bedroom with a smart television and an ensuite bathroom. This bath has a walk-in shower. You cannot roll a wheelchair into the shower but you could assist someone who is able to stand for short periods. There are no grab bars installed at this time.

Upstairs in our farm house, you'll find 2 more bedrooms next to each other with a shared bathroom down the hallway which has a shower and soaker tub combination. There is a large vanity with 2 sinks and a double window that provides lovely views as you get ready for the day. The largest bedroom has 2 queen-sized beds, a smart television and floor space that allows kids and teens to spread out a little. The second bedroom upstairs has one queen bed, an antique dresser, a smart television and a "secret" bed space tucked into a very large closet that's been dubbed "The Happy Place." This special space has a double bed, cute children's artwork and a desk/chair with a pull-out computer work surface. Upstairs bedrooms are carpeted for warmth and to help with sound.

The farmhouse has an open floor plan on the main level that includes a great room, dining room, and kitchen. The flooring on this level is locally milled and stained pine planks which complement our old farm house plan. The kitchen is fully-equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and custom cabinetry. You'll be able to prepare both simple and gourmet meals. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes and glassware, cookware, bakeware, serving pieces, mixing bowls, utensils and cutlery. There are multiple small appliances: a Keurig coffee maker (uses pods or makes a whole pot), two crockpots, two blenders, and a 4-slice toaster. Love to bake? There's even a Kitchen-Aid mixer! The coffee station has some coffee, coffee pods, sugar, creamer and other hot drink mixes. Don't forget to throw in your favorites as well. There is a high table in the kitchen area that seats 3 people and allows for extra space for food preparation and serving. Hot mats and coasters are provided to protect wood surfaces. In the dining area is a large, farmhouse-style table that seats 8 people. It's perfect for mealtimes, playing games or working puzzles. The great room space features comfortable seating, including recliners, with a gas-log fireplace, bookcases, and a large smart television. There is a half-bath tucked under the wide staircase that's convenient to the open living spaces.

Down the hallway from the great room on the main level, you'll find a large covered porch (10' x 20') that you can access through a sliding glass door. This porch allows guests to enjoy beautiful views of the wooded property and the large pond. There is seasonal furniture, a dining table with 6 chairs, and a large gas grill for your convenience. It's a perfect spot for a quiet coffee in the morning or gathering in the evenings.

Accessible from the front porch around to the side of the house is a large firepit area with Adirondack chairs and side tables. Gather at the firepit when the weather is cool to roast hot dogs and marshmallows...and perhaps S'mores too. There's a small covered deck area near the firepit with an outdoor couch. You'll find some roasting sticks hanging out there also.
