Mariannas Sitia Village House

Our house is a small private vacation house, situated in Mesa Mouliana, Sitia. Lavished in green from the close-by stream of the village, the house remains cool even in the hottest of weather. Trekking lovers will find themselves in an ideal position, with numerous walking routes available. It has been completely restored in 2012 as a personal retreat house, with attention to detail.
A washing machine is available, as well as a filter coffee machine and all electric appliances and pottery for a fully furnished kitchen. The house has a fireplace (complimentary wood to burn), and electric heaters for the cold weather. It also has wifi and a LCD tv for local channels. A stairway leads to the level of the house from the square below, approximately one floor height. A travel baby cot is available upon request.
The guests have access to a private balcony-yard, overlooking the village square, covered by tent and usable all through the day, regardless of the weather. The house itself consists of three main rooms, living room, kitchen and bedroom, fully separated from each other. One bathroom.
The hosts are available only by phone. Cleaning service is available on demand when requested by the guests. Emergency contact is provided for the guests.
Mesa Mouliana is a fertile green village 19 kms from Sitia well-known for its hospitality and for its wine, first recorded in ancient times, which is made from a special kind of grape. Domed tombs from the post Minoan period have been found in the area along with the artefacts buried with the dead. The small settlement of Kalavros, set in imposing scenery on the isolated coast, also belongs to Mesa Mouliana. The Richtis Gorge is in walking distance from the house (appx. 2.5km), one of the most beautiful small gorges of eastern Crete with a marked route that follows the river, which has running water year round and forms a lovely waterfall. It starts a bit further from the village "Exo Mouliana" and ends at the beach of "Richti", east from the village "Kalavro". The total length of the route is about 4,5 km and the altitude difference from the entrance to the exit is about 350 meters. The village of Mochlos is in short distance from the house (around 20kms, with nice spots for a swim and nice fish taverns). Sitia, the close by city is itself a lovely destination, with vibrant social life, excellent food ad a relaxed mentality. Vai, with its’ well known beach and palm forest is a short drive. At the same drive, the beaches of Hiona and Kouremenos are worth a visit, for their water sports and nice views.
Excellent Cretan cuisine is available from the tavern of Agrilos, a well-known food point in the area where almost every night is a local music fiesta!
The house is located just meters away from the bus stations to Sitia and Agios Nikolaos or Heraklion. It is easily reachable by bus from Sitia or Agios Nikolaos, as it is located in the central square of the village and the bus station is situated in front. Sitia is also the closest airport. Parking spots for cars are available all around the place at all times.
