The former fishermen’s cottages are located right on the Freest marina. They have been lovingly and tastefully renovated in a nostalgic style and are individually furnished. Guests share a common courtyard and garden on a fenced-in property. What makes this middle cottage special: One bedroom upstairs offers a sea view all the way to Usedom... See photos at

Enjoy the scent of the sea in the semi-wild garden with its sheds and nooks and crannies—sometimes a faint whiff of smoked fish—the cries of seagulls, watching our swallows, and the gentle buzz from the neighboring marina. This place is truly authentic and still a little-known gem for those seeking that genuine Baltic Sea atmosphere, away from large-scale tourism.

Location: Freest is one of the last intact fishing villages in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is part of the municipality of Kröslin. It has a small fishing and marina and its own smokehouse in town. We highly recommend buying fish directly from the boat at the harbor. The flat sandy beach (great for kids) is just a 5-minute walk away. You can rent beach chairs right on the beach.

There are several restaurants right in town (all within a 5-minute walk)
Or treat yourself to a horse-drawn carriage ride (max. 4 people) through the forests of Freest.

A small fishing museum in Freest itself is also worth a visit, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. No, it’s not spectacular, but it’s still quite surprising. There are also two bike rental shops in town.
For just a few euros, take the ferry to Usedom (destination: Peenemünde) or to Rügen. Usedom is 11.3 km from Wolgast and can be reached by car in about 10 minutes. Wolgast also offers numerous shopping opportunities and, of course, the many beaches on Usedom and the amber spas there. The beach at the seaside resort of Lubmin is also just a 10-minute drive away. Please note: A daily visitor’s tax applies when visiting some seaside resorts. (Vending machines are usually available in front of the beaches.) There is no visitor’s tax in Freest. The houses are located next to the old historic shipyard in Freest, which sometimes offers guided tours. You’ll find a large, modern shipyard at the Baltic Sea Resort in the neighboring main town of Kröslin. The Baltic Sea Resort also features a restaurant right on the water with a beautiful view of Usedom.

Photos of this listing, House 2:
, Kröslin (Fischerdorf Freest), Dorfstraße 19, approx. 130 sqm
3 double bedrooms and 2 small single bedrooms, kitchen, 1 bathroom with tub, shower, and toilet, 1 additional toilet upstairs, 1 common room with TV.
Outdoor seating and lounging areas, as well as a kettle grill, are available for each house.
Suitable for up to 8 people

Dogs are, of course, allowed in the house provided proper hygiene is observed.
