Our family stayed here while visiting relatives in Morro Bay. Before we even arrived, we received a very long message with an extensive list of house rules that immediately made us feel more like we were being warned than welcomed. We respected the rules and, because of the overall atmosphere, tried to spend as little time at the house as possible. The home also felt very personal, with family photos throughout the house and even a personal card left in the bedroom, which made us feel like we were staying in someone else’s private space rather than a vacation rental.Unfortunately, the beds were quite old, and the pillows were extremely lumpy, making it difficult for us to get a good night’s sleep.Checkout was another frustrating experience. We were given a lengthy list of chores, including stripping the beds, starting laundry, cleaning, and other tasks. We spent over an hour completing everything before leaving the property in great condition. After we checked out, the host contacted us accusing us of taking a decorative pillow, smoking in the home, and breaking a game. None of these accusations are true. We did not take anything, no one smoked in the house, and we did not damage any games or other property. It felt like the host was looking for reasons to charge us additional money after our stay. This was, without question, the most unpleasant experience we’ve had with a vacation rental host.
