🔌 Technology & Cabin Amenities
Smart TV:
• Located in the living room.
• Silver Hisense remote controls TV, volume and smart TV. Small black TCL remote controls soundbar if you want to use for playing music with bluetooth.
• Use your own logins for Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc.
• Don’t forget to log out before you leave!
Thermostat & Heat:
• Controlled by the wall units near the utility room.
• The tall and thin Bryant remote control is for the minisplit unit which produces both A/C and heat.
• The Tekmar thermostat is for the floor heat.
• Please keep it between 65°F–72°F for comfort and to conserve energy. Please note, given all the windows and natural light in the cabin, the sun will also help keep things warm especially in the afternoon.
🔥 Using the Induction Cooktop
• Our cooktop is induction – and it’s easy! All of our pots and pans at the cabin are compatible for the cooktop. If you bring your own they need to be induction-compatible (cast iron, magnetic stainless steel).
• Simply place the cookware in the center of the cooking zone (white cross area) and turn on the corresponding dial to the level of heat you need.
• P is the highest heat level and = power boil.
• Once finished, turn the dial to the off position. The cooktop screen will indicate “H” if the cooktop is still warm. You will notice the surface cools rather quickly and is easy to clean.
Wood stove (Indoor):
• Our wood stove adds cozy warmth to the cabin and is perfect for those chilly Wisconsin nights. Please take a moment to review these safety guidelines before using it.
🚫 DO NOT USE IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR OR UNCOMFORTABLE
• If you’re not experienced with wood stoves or feel unsure, please do not attempt to light it. We’d rather you stay safe and use the cabin’s heating systems instead.
• Use only the dry, seasoned firewood provided (stored near the stove or on the outdoor storage rack). No trash, paper, or treated wood. Never use lighter fluid, gasoline, or any flammable liquids.
• Open the air control vent towards you (the small lever at the bottom left of the stove) to allow good airflow. Push in for a low burn.
• Place a couple of small logs and fire starter (or kindling) inside the stove.
• The handle on the back right side controls the bypass for the catalytic combustor. It should be open (or down/forward) when you start the fire. Once the wood stove heats up as indicated by the thermometer above the handle, you can close it (push up/back).
• Never leave the stove unattended while the door is open.
• Keep children at least 3 feet away from the stove at all times.
•Please make sure to pull the tv away from the wood stove vent pipe when fire is going.
• Do not place anything on top of the stove (no drying clothes, gloves, or boots).
💤 Before You Go to Bed or Leave the Cabin
• Let the fire burn down naturally—do not add new logs late at night.
• Never leave an active fire unattended overnight or when leaving the cabin.
🧯 In Case of Emergency
• A fire extinguisher is located next to the fireplace.
• A smoke detector and carbon monoxide monitor are installed near the stove.
• If smoke fills the room or you hear a CO detector alarm, exit immediately and call 911.
Solo Stove (Outdoor):
• Firewood is stacked on the north side of the cabin.
• There is a log splitter and mallet in the shed if you need to create kindling or smaller pieces.
• Please extinguish fires fully with water before heading in for the night and place the cover on the stove. A 5-gallon bucket is located near the outdoor hose for this purpose.
🧼 Cabin Cleaning Instructions
We ask that guests leave the cabin in reasonably tidy condition before check-out.
