Germany’s oldest city is the Roman city of Trier, which is easily accessible via a scenic route just a one-hour drive along the Saar and Moselle rivers through Mettlach, Saarburg, and Konz. This route is also very popular with cyclists. The state capital, Saarbrücken, is just a half-hour drive away and offers plenty of shopping and cultural opportunities.
