Sobre esta propriedade
STYLISH AND HOMELY APARTMENT WITH VIEWS OF JEDBURGH ABBEY
Enjoy a stylish experience at this self catering, centrally-located apartment. Lower Abbey Mill House is situated next to the river Jed in the historic town of Jedburgh, in the Scottish Borders, and has beautiful views of the magnificent Jedburgh Abbey from the bedroom window and garden . There is a spacious self contained walled garden, belonging solely to the property, with a patio area and outdoor furniture to enjoy alfresco dining (weather permitting!). Shops, bars and restaurants are all only a short walk away.
Sleeps 2 comfortably but can accommodate up to a maximum of 4 people (1 king size bed/1 sofa bed) and has everything needed for a comfortable & relaxing stay.
The living room is bright and welcoming with an electric log effect stove and also has a small double sofa bed.
The kitchen has a breakfast bar for dining and lots of mod cons, including hob, oven, dishwasher and microwave.
The double bedroom is light and airy with a kingsize bed and en-suite shower room.
There's an additional loo in the house with a toilet and sink and also a quirky laundry room in an outhouse adjoined to the property.
The house is a ground floor flat which has one small step into it before the front door threshold and all areas within the house are on the one level with no steps inside. The central gateway has 6 steps down without any handrail and it is advised that all guests use the side gate to access the property, which only has 2 small steps.
There’s a few parking spaces next to the apartment or, on the rare occasion none are available there’s a large free car park almost opposite the apartment. The large car park is beside Abbey Bridge Coffee House, which serves delicious homemade sour dough concoctions, as well breakfasts, soups, light lunches and scones/cakes - this is a firm and convenient favourite with guests.
If you’re in to historical sites, as well as Jedburgh Abbey, there’s Mary Queen of Scot’s House and Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum nearby. Within a 20 minute drive guests can also visit Kelso and Melrose Abbeys
There’s a riverside walk with access directly behind the property, or longer trails to hike along including Dere Street (an ancient Roman road), the Cheviot and Eildon hills or, if you prefer a more challenging 100km trail theres St Cuthberts Way.
For sports enthusiasts, Jedburgh is home to Jedforest Rugby club, one of the oldest in Scotland. Theres also has the local Jed Legion football team or riding stables nearby that take customers on hacks around the beautiful Borders countryside (booking required). There was a new skate park opened recently which is free and located just across the main road at the back of the apartment.
Nearby Kelso stands on the river Tweed and supports some fantastic river fishing.
As well as lots of small villages (and pubs!) to explore in the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh (to the north) and the spectacular Northumberland Coast (to the south) are both just over an hours drive away and Lower Abbey Mill House is a great base for touring the surrounding areas, as well as a great half way stopover resting point if travelling from the south to the north of the UK.
