One of the most unique parts of staying at Thistle Hill is the animals.

Our small homestead includes:
• Mini Jersey cows
• Guernsey goats
• Kune kune pigs
• Chickens (and fresh eggs when available)
• Free-ranging peacocks

You’ll see them, hear them, and likely fall in love with them.

This is a working homestead environment, not a staged experience — which means every day is a little different, a little imperfect, and very real.

Because we are a real homestead, there are a few important things to be aware of:

🐦 Free-Ranging Peacocks
Our peacocks roam freely around the property. They are beautiful, curious, and occasionally loud — especially during certain times of day. You may see them near the house, on fences, or wandering the grounds.

🐓 Animal Noises
This is not a silent retreat.
You will hear:
• Roosters crowing (yes, sometimes early)
• Goats and cows vocalizing
• Pigs grunting
• General farm life sounds

Most guests find this part of the charm — but if you’re looking for total silence, this may not be the best fit.
