Stylish and nostalgic: Erzgebirgshäusel directly on the Zschopau river

Let us introduce you to Ortrud. This elderly lady was built in 1820. She is named after her former owner, the village schoolteacher who spent her entire life in this “little cottage.” We fell in love with her in 2021 and brought her back to her former glory. As is typical for such a traditional Erzgebirge cottage, the ceiling height is particularly low. In some areas, the ceiling is 2.05 meters high, while the doorways are about 1.85 meters high. But you get used to ducking your head pretty quickly ;).
During the renovation, we tried to preserve the nostalgic character of the house; we exposed the brick and clay walls as well as the wooden beams, laid wooden floors, and restored the old plaster. We also kept the old radiators—some of which are cast iron—and the heating system because they had been meticulously maintained in previous years. Some walls were added, while others were removed. Bathrooms were added where there were none before.
The result is now an open, very bright living/kitchen area with a cozy nook for relaxing and reading that offers a direct view of the Zschopau River, four bedrooms spread over two floors, one bathroom with a shower and tub, one bathroom with a shower and sink, and a separate toilet on the first floor.
The property borders directly on the Zschopau River. A staircase leads directly down to the river. When children are visiting, adult supervision is absolutely required (the good old saying definitely applies here: Parents are responsible for their children :)).
Important note regarding four-legged family members: Due to an allergy, pets are unfortunately not allowed.

This little house is very special to us. We’re confident that our guests will feel just as at home in our “Ortrud” as we do and will treat it with the same care and consideration.

Just so you know: Our dear neighbor (Sepp) takes care of the trash cans from time to time and waters a few flowers now and then. So please don’t be alarmed if he briefly steps onto the property.
