Beautiful Property!

Our group of Mom, Dad, 3 kids [23,21,17] & 90 yr old Grandma had a great time hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing & relaxing at Dean's Lake Cottage. The property was just as described, extremely well-equipped & very clean. Having access to 3 kayaks & a canoe was awesome! Our sons loved exploring all the islands in the lake & they took their gear by canoe to camp on one of the islands. Accessing trails directly from the property was very convenient. We were pleasantly surprised to find wild blueberries, raspberries & blackberries within an arm's reach of the trails & enjoyed them with our waffles (yes - they even had a waffle maker!). The setting was very peaceful. There were so many spots to watch the wildlife & lake - the upper deck of the cottage, the dock & benches thoughtfully placed throughout the property. We heard & saw bullfrogs in the blossoming lillypads, enjoyed the steady "buzz" of hummingbirds at the feeder, watched & listened to the loons, & had daily visits from a duck family. The only wildlife that were scarce were the fish. Dad & daughter didn't have much success catching fish, but they enjoyed trying. Friendly property manager Rick stopped by & we enjoyed his visit. Owner Stefan was very responsive to questions before our trip & also called a few times during our stay to check on us. This is an fantastic place to relax & reconnect with nature. Our family had a great time enjoying the property & our time together!

Nova Scotian Hospitality

We stayed one week at Dean Lake a d thoroughly enjoyed our time. The cottage is nestled into a classic Canadian scene of natural beauty. Quiet and peaceful Dean Lake is the perfect place to get away from the noise of daily living. It is also centrally located in the province which allows for easy drives to Annapolis Royal, Lunenburg Mahone Bay, the Annapolis Valley and beyond. We also want to emphasize how much we appreciated Rick , the property manager. He is attentive, warm, funny and informative. Rick is unique but we felt this same friendly welcome throughout our Nkva Scotian travels. Stefan, the property owner has created a very special experience and we hope one to return to his home on Dean Lake.

Dean Lake Chalet

A newly constructed lakefront home with high end luxury and convenience while maintaining that cottage feeling. Stunning deck to watch sunsets and listen the the Loons. Stefan was an excellent host and was polite courteous and helpful during the entire experience. My kids caught frogs and the abundance of small fish ensured they each walked away with memories of their first catch. Lastly when you arrive you will be greeted by a wonderful fella named Rick who will show you around and be there if you should need something. It is a great spot to reconnect with family and relax. Thanks again!!! The Keegans

A spectacular home in an incredible setting

This stunning property delivered incredible comfort and ease in the midst of a spectacular natural setting. The house is absolutely beautiful - warm, inviting, beautifully decorated and well appointed. We had everything we needed and more! And it is nestled in the midst of the most serene and breathtaking scenery. We loved exploring the paths, which were so well explained in the detailed welcome package. And Rick was a great host, always there if we had questions - a great ambassador for Nova Scotia. Can't wait to come back in the summer!

Wonderful cozy Xmas spent at cottage!

We spent an amazingly cozy Xmas at the cottage, which exceeded our expectations! We loved the view and privacy, not to mention the immaculate cottage. We were even welcomed to pick a tree from the property for the celebration. So thoughtful! Thanks Stefan and Rick, we return hope to return someday! All the best.

Lovely getaway

The Dean Lake Cottage had all we needed for a good family vacation. Great access to the outdoors and a comfortable and fully equipped indoors. Beautiful remote property with lots of local adventure spots and wildlife. So nice to have access to boats and bikes and badminton etc. Thanks to hosts local and afar!

Nicht zu viel versprochen!

Wunderschönes Haus mit super Ausstattung, tolle Landschaft und Tierwelt, sehr angenehmer Kontakt mit dem Vermieter und super Wetter hatten wir auch noch. Kurzum: ein toller Urlaub, wir waren garantiert nicht zum letzten mal am schönen Dean Lake!

Traumurlaub Canada

Wenn man 14 Tage im Dean Lake Cottage verbracht hat, weiß man eigentlich nicht wirklich, wovon man am meisten schwärmen soll.... Von der grandiosen Natur, von dem einfach traumhaft schönen Haus mit seiner Lage am See oder einfach nur von allem (Land, Leute, usw.) Man fühlt sich einfach sofort zu Hause, es gibt von der Ausstattung her nichts, was einem fehlen könnte. Mit den Kanus konnte man stundenlang jede noch so abgelegene Stelle der Seen erkunden und von der Veranda aus konnte man die traumhafte Abend-stimmung genießen. Als Ausgangspunkt für Unternehmung hat uns auch die Lage des Objektes beeindruckt. Trotz anfänglicher Zweifel vor der Buchung (da die Lage ja doch im Inland ist), war die Entscheidung vollkommen richtig. Egal ob in Richtung Digby oder Brigdewater, man ist überall recht schnell und hat wirklich die Möglichkeit alle Richtungen zu erkunden. In Caledonia kann man alles für den täglichen Bedarf einkaufen. Einen herzlichen Dank noch einmal an Familie Rüter, die uns damit einen unvergesslichen Urlaub beschert hat! Der nächste Urlaub ist in Planung.....wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder.

Toller Urlaub

Nachdem wir in den letzten Jahren schon einige Urlaube im Mittelmeerraum und in Skandinavien verbrachten, machten wir uns in diesem Jahr auf einen neuen Kontinent zu entdecken. Der Flugzeit sollte auf keinen Fall einen Arbeitstag (8h) überschreiten und wichtig war zudem viel Natur und ein englischsprachiges Land. Nach kurzem Stöbern auf der Weltkarte und dem Internet waren wir schnell bei Neuschottland (Nova Scotia) in Kanada - was ja quasi das erste amerikanische Land bei der Atlantiküberquerung ist. Nach noch ein wenig weiterer Internetrecherche waren wir auch schnell bei diesem Ferienhaus, was in mitten der kanadischen Natur liegt. Angefangen vom nett hergerichteten Flughafen in Halifax, der Überfahrt mit dem Leihwagen zum Haus (herrliche Highways schlängeln sich durch die atemberaubende Naturlandschaft Kanadas), der Ankunft am idyllischen direkt am See gelegenen Ferienhaus, die unfassbare Ruhe und (scheinbare) Abgeschiedenheit in Hausnähe, die vielen erholsamen Lese- und Erholungsstunden am See, die Abkühlung im ca. 22°C warmen See, die vielen Entdeckungsfahrten mit dem Kajak im Seengebiet, das top ausgestattete Ferienhaus, die zahlreichen Entdeckungsfahrten der umliegenden "Dörfer" (Caledonia, New Germany, New Canada, Annapolis Royal...), die Besichtigung von touristischen Höhepunkten (Leuchtturmroute, Bay of Fundy, Peggys Cove,...) und noch vieles viels mehr haben unsere Erwartungen weit übertroffen. Wir sind uns sicher im nächsten Jahr wieder in der Natur Kanadas unsere Erholung zu genießen - es gibt noch so viel zu entdecken! Habe schon jetzt mit dem Vermieter (unverbindlich) einen Termin vereinbart. Damit bin ich mir als Großstädter sicher auch im nächsten Jahr in der kanadischen Wildnis wohl und geborgen zu fühlen. Erwartungen deutlich übertroffen!

Wir haben uns schon vorstellen können, dass dieser Urlaub etwas ganz besonderes wird und waren im Nachhinein einfach nur überwältigt. Die Natur stellte sich uns so dar, wie man es von Kanada erwartet - traumhaft. Die Bilder der Umgebung sagen alles. Im Haus selber fehlt es an nichts. Weder an der Ausstattung, noch an der Sauberkeit. Der Kontakt zum Vermieter war sehr angenehm, ebenso wie die nette Betreuung vor Ort. Das Haus ist sehr empfehlenswert! Fazit: Wir sind bereits in der Planung für unseren nächsten Aufenthalt. Grüße aus dem Erzgebirge Gerd S.

Super Ausstattung, grandiose Lage

Mein Urlaub im letzten Jahr im Dean Lake Cottage war der Inbegriff von Entspannung. Ich war selten so tiefenentspannt wie dort. Die Natur ist einfach wunderschön.. Egal ob man auf dem Grundstück spazieren geht, mit dem Kajak oder Kanu auf den See rausfährt, die Umgebung (Nationalpark, diverse Piratenstädte und natürlich Halifax und Bridgewater zum Shoppen) erkundet oder es sich einfach nur mit 'nem Buch auf dem Sonnendeck gemütlich macht - es ist einfach der Inbegriff von Urlaub.. Wenn man dann noch die Eichhörnchen und Streifenhörnchen "belauscht" und beobachtet geht einem einfach das Herz auf.. Auch die Ausstattung des Hauses lässt keine Wünsche offen. Es ist für alles gesorgt und sollte man sich mal nicht zurechtfinden, steht der Vermieter telefonisch immer helfend zur Verfügung. Das nenn ich Rundum-Service! Ich freu mich schon auf meinen nächsten Urlaub im Sommer 2011 im Dean Lake Cottage!

Traumurlaub am See

Es war für uns der erste Urlaub in Kanada und wir sind auch nach unserer Wiederkehr beeindruckt von dem Haus, der Umgebung und von Nova Scotia. Wir haben uns im Dean Lake Cottage pudelwohl gefühlt. Morgens sind wir aufgewacht und konnten vom Schlafzimmer direkt auf dem See blicken. Das Haus war top ausgestattet und es fehlte an nichts. Wir haben Kanutouren auf dem See unternommen, sind schwimmen gegangen oder einfach auf dem Sonnendeck die Sonne genossen. Wir haben schon viel Ferienhaus-Urlaube unternommen, und können mit Sicherheit sagen, daß es das schönste Haus ist, was wir je hatten. Begrüßt wurden wir vom Vermieter mit einer Flasche Wein und es lag ein Ordner mit hilfreichen Tipps und Ausflugszielen aus. Am ersten Abend haben wir uns mit der Flasche Wein nach draußen gesetzt und den wundervollen Sternenhimmel betrachtet. Auf Sauberkeit, Dekoration und Einrichtung hat der Vermieter großen Wert gelegt, so waren selbst z.B. die Handtücher mit "Dean Lake Cottage" bestickt. Schön war auch die Architektur des Hauses: auf der großen Terrasse mit vielen Sitzgelegenheiten und Bänken konnte man gut entspannen. Auch der Deutsche Fernsehsender DW-TV war für Nachrichten aus der Heimat empfangbar. Wir hatten vorgenommen, viele Ausflüge zu unternehmen. Obwohl die Ausflugsziele und die zentrale Lage des Hauses wirklich gut waren, haben wir nur einen kleinen Teil davon unternommen, da die Zeit am Haus wie im Flug verging. Der wirkliche Highlight war aber die Natur und der See, direkte Nachbarn hat man keine gehabt und teilweise hat man geglaubt, es wäre in einem Traum. Auch die Flugzeit zurück war übrigens erstaunlich kurz, in nur 5 Stunden und 35 Minuten waren wir aufgrund "Rückenwind" zurück wieder in Deutschland. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und das Haus weiterempfehlen.
