A great alternative to climbing the Brocken is a hike to the Wurmberg in Braunlage. Lower Saxony's highest mountain is easily manageable even for inexperienced hikers and offers an almost equally spectacular panorama when visibility is good. How about a visit to the high ropes course in St. Andreasberg? We also highly recommend a visit to the Western town of Pullman City (near Hasselfelde, about ten kilometers away) and the famous Rübeland stalactite caves, especially for families with children.
