"Välkommen" to our cozy vacation home, SOLHEM!
It is located in central Sweden in Finnskogen (Arvika municipality), just about 4 km from the Norwegian border.
Finnskogen is sparsely populated and offers wonderful hiking trails, as well as many opportunities to explore old Finntorps (Finnish farms established in the 17th century). Some of these are still in operation. It is the province of lakes and deep forests. Värmland is home to 10,512 lakes, and its forests and waters are home to all kinds of animals (including moose, deer, beavers, wolves, bears, and many species of birds and fish).
A paradise for nature lovers!
What could be better than sitting comfortably by the fire in the evening after a wonderfully eventful day in nature!
Canoeing is, of course, very popular (canoes are available for a deposit), and in the fall, you can go mushroom and berry picking, fishing, or simply enjoy the silence.
Fishing lakes are all around, and you can conveniently purchase a fishing license right on site (fishing boats available for a deposit).
And of course, winter has its own charms here as well, such as cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.
There are plenty of excursion options; for example, a visit to “Sunne Sommarland,” Värmland’s Ekshärad Moose Park, Kvarntorp Finntorp, and Ritamäki Finntorp is well worth it. And if you’d like to get a taste of the capital, you can easily take the train from Kongsvinger (1 hour 20 minutes) directly to downtown Oslo.
A flat fee of €100 is charged on site for final cleaning.
