Welcome to our vacation home in Ilsenburg in the Harz Mountains, right next to the national park. The historic “Forsthaus am Brocken,” dating from the 19th century, was extensively renovated a few years ago into comfortable vacation apartments. The vacation home is located in the Ilse Valley, in the heart of the unspoiled Harz Forest, along the wild mountain stream “Ilse.” Right next to the house runs what is arguably the most beautiful trail up the Brocken, as well as other hiking trails leading into the Harz National Park. The one-bedroom vacation apartment sleeps two people. It features a living area with a sofa and flat-screen TV, a solid-wood kitchen and dining table, a bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a terrace with a view of the Harz countryside! A wide variety of recreational activities are within walking distance of the vacation rental: a water playground, a Kneipp facility, a climbing forest, a disc golf course, and the Ilsenburg National Park Visitor Center. You can start the most popular hiking trails right from the vacation homes. Arguably the most beautiful hike up the Brocken, the “Heinrich-Heine-Weg,” follows the course of the Ilse River and runs right past our houses.
The historic town of Wernigerode, with its town hall and castle, is just a few minutes’ drive away. Bad Harzburg, with its treetop trail and saltwater spa; Thale, with the Hexentanzplatz and Roßtrappe; and many other excursion options invite you to explore the surrounding area.
