THE VACATION RENTAL
Built in 1770, the Schweizerhaus is the oldest house in town and offers a truly relaxing atmosphere. This renovated mill house combines historic details—such as the half-timbered entryway—with modern comforts. Highlights include the cozy kitchen-diner, which seats up to 4 people, and the large garden with an orchard and a terrace. You’re just 10 minutes from the beach, yet you can enjoy absolute peace and quiet here—an ideal starting point for bike tours through the idyllic Klützer Winkel.
The apartment is approximately 80 square meters and ideal for four people. Two bedrooms and a cozy kitchen-living room with a terrace provide space for a family with two children or for two couples.
The private entrance leads into the house’s historic entryway, featuring extensive half-timbering and antique sandstone slabs. From here, you can go to one of the bedrooms or continue down the hallway to the kitchen-living room. Here you can cook, eat, chat, watch the sparrows, relax on the sofa, or head straight out into the garden. The sun shines on the terrace almost all day long. It’s a lovely spot to sit even just for breakfast. The large lawn between the fruit trees is a wonderful place to play and run around.
If you want to wash the sand off your feet, hop into the shower or the bathtub—both offer a view of the garden. The washing machine is right next to them. One floor up is the second bedroom with a sitting area for playing, reading, and relaxing.

THE SCHWEIZERHAUS
The Schweizerhaus is located on Dorfstraße, directly across from the church, and, having been built around 1770, is the oldest house in town. Originally built as a mill house, it got its current name from its notable owner: Mr. Abbühl acquired the property in the early 20th century. He was Swiss in two senses—not only was he from Switzerland, but he also worked as a “Swiss” for the landowner von Plessen. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of cattle breeding and care, comparable to a veterinarian today. In addition, he managed the mill located outside the village.
A special anecdote: The current owner purchased the house in 1990 from a daughter of the Swiss man, who still held a Swiss passport despite never having been to Switzerland.
The house was completely renovated and expanded, while many historical details were preserved. These lend the Swiss house a cozy atmosphere without sacrificing modern comforts. Wooden windows with muntins dating from 1999, solid oak floorboards in the vacation apartment, and the carefully restored building structure harmoniously blend the old and the new.
The roof is home to a colony of sparrows, which contribute to the house’s lively character. Vacationers share the property with the owner, his wife, and another tenant, who live in separate parts of the building. Aside from the sparrows, the other residents are usually only on site on weekends.
The property is fully developed and fenced. The outdoor area includes paved paths, lawns, and garden spaces, as well as a carport and several sheds. The technical amenities include natural gas central heating with a newly replaced gas boiler, underfloor heating in the vacation apartment’s bathroom, as well as satellite TV and internet.
At the Schweizerhaus, you’ll be staying in a piece of living village history—surrounded by historic charm and modern living comfort in the heart of the Klützer Winkel.
