Hillscheid is an ideal starting point for hikes in the Westerwald, with well-marked trails maintained by our Westerwald Association, as well as for excursions to nearby Koblenz (approx. 15 km), as well as to Bad Ems (12 km), Nassau on the Lahn, or the wine villages along the Moselle.
Discounted admission tickets for the new Bad Ems thermal baths are available from the landlord.
It is 6 km to Vallendar and the boat dock on the Rhine. The aerial cableway across the Rhine—running from the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress—was built for the 2011 Federal Horticultural Show in Koblenz.
The Kannenbäckerland region around Hillscheid and Höhr-Grenzhausen, home to the Ceramics Museum, offers plenty to see—not only for ceramics enthusiasts—but also brings the history of the Limes to life along the hiking trails that pass the Limes Tower and the Limes Fort.
For canoeists and water enthusiasts, the Lahn River offers the ideal water sports experience for the whole family.
