Slow Down House is a charming waterfront cabin tucked into the village of Pacific City, offering a relaxed, affordable retreat just about half a mile from the beach. Set along a quiet canal, this inviting home is perfect for guests who want easy access to both the ocean and inland waterways.

Upstairs, the bright great room features lovely, picturesque views and provides a comfortable space to gather, unwind, and enjoy time together. The home includes Wi-Fi for staying connected, while downstairs you'll find a fun ping-pong ā€œparty roomā€ in the garageā€”great for friendly competition and rainy-day entertainment.

Step outside to a private, canal-front backyard where you can relax and take in the peaceful surroundings. While there is no launch dock, the canalā€”just steps from the yardā€”leads directly to the Nestucca River, making it an appealing spot for kayaking, fishing, or simply enjoying the water views.

Pet-friendly and budget-conscious, Slow Down House is an excellent choice for your next Pacific City getawayā€”perfect for slowing down, exploring the coast, and enjoying life by the water.

Layout:
Split level home. Downstairs is garage, party room and ping-pong table. Upstairs is living room, dining area, kitchen, full bath, back canal-front deck. 2 Bedrooms. Each has a queen bed.
Neighborhood:
The Slow Down House is in the village of Pacific City on Brooten Road. This is on the East side of the Nestucca River. It is about a half mile walk to the nearest beach access, and 1.5 miles to Cape Kiwanda and the Pelican Pub. The house sits on the Nestucca River canal and has lovely views and a private backyard.

External surveillance is in use at this home.

Cancellation Policy:
1/2 the total cost of the booking is subject to forfeiture if reservation is canceled or changed within 30 days of arrival. 100% of rental rate is charged if cancelled (or no-show) within 14 days of arrival. If the house is fully rebooked by another renter, cancellation charges (less $35) will be refunded. Reservation cancellation fee is $35. (If you book with a 3rd party, different charges may apply).

Occupancy Note:
Occupancy rules are strictly enforced and apply to the entire property during the stay. Additional day-use guests may be allowed with management pre-approval. After your booking is confirmed, you will be sent the full rental contract and terms.

Weekend getaway

The view from the house was pleasant with a nice yard for the dog. The ping pong table, corn hole set and board games were great for stormy weather. As has been stated in other reviews, there was a lot of street noise and the house trembled when trucks passed by on the street. All in all, we had a nice relaxing stay though.

Decent place to stay

Itā€™s clean and comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you need. I didnā€™t like being right next to a busy road, and all the stairs were a challenge for a couple of reasons (mostly due to having a dog along). I always appreciate dog-friendly places, but wouldnā€™t stay again with a dog - having to do all the stairs to get to backyard for bathroom breaks, especially in the middle of the night). But the management company is fantastic!!

Cute home!

The home was well maintained and clean with great lighting. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook food we had brought. My kids LOVED the bunk bed in the second bedroom. The beds were comfortable, and my husband appreciated the height of the shower head in the bathroom as it was actually above his head. As others have said, I did notice some shaking when heavy vehicles would drive by, but we didnā€™t find it bothersome. Overall, we would definitely book again if available!

Week vacation

Stayed for a week. Very relaxing. Great view and setup. Having a grill and ping pong table were nice extras. Close to beach and grocery. Some traffic noise, but would definitely stay there again.

Great friends weekend

I booked this for me and my 4 friends for the weekend. It was a really easy check in process and a very well stocked kitchen. The photos donā€™t show it but the house is on a rather busy road and there are only 3 beds that really could sleep 4 comfortably instead of the 5 listed. We brought a air mattress and it was great. The text message and the clear binder made check out super clear and really easy. Thanks for a great weekend!

Great time!

We had a great time to x pet for the weather. A good location close enough to the beach and a couple of decent restaurants and bars. only complaint was that there was a lot of pet hair in stairwell and under furniture. the cleanliness of the kitchen could have been a little bit better. Sticky inside cabinets. Kitchen well stocked with everything you need to prepare and serve meals. The dishwasher was very stinky had to run it a couple times to get the smell out. Also they could use some new pans the non stick pans are in poor shape and peeling. Knives are dull. I cook a lot so that was important to me. Property management was excellent. Would come back for another stay

Comfortable and practical place to stay

We booked this thinking we would regret not having ocean views, but in fact this place was great. It was a short walk to the beach, and the deck overlooks a quiet green space where we could hear blackbirds into the early afternoon. Lots of natural light in the common areas (and exceptional lighting options for after dark, with multiple lamps/dimmers). House was very clean without feeling aesthetically sterile. Well-stocked kitchen had every utensil and appliance we could use (except we forgot our coffee grinder; no problem because there are a couple of coffee spots just down the road). Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens, extra blankets, towels. Nice little DVD collection with movies about men fighting and shooting things. We made use of the board games but didn't try the grill or downstairs TV. Accessibility: two flights of stairs to enter house, towels and linens washed with non-hypoallergenic detergent.

Lovely home

This home was very well situated for our vacation. The set up was lovely and it is located close to restaurants and the beach. Our only complaint is that the beds are so hard they make getting a good nights sleep a challenge. A foam mattress topper could solve the problem.

Little noisy

Place was very nice, but bedroom's are on street side and the traffic was noisy. Plus there is road damage right in front of house and when people drove over it (especially trucks) it woke us up.

Spring break getaway

We had a good time at this house! Well stocked kitchen utensils and comfy beds! We loved having coffee on the deck and watching the sun set! Unfortunately our daughter found some drug paraphernalia at the house on our first day. Seems like a cleaning issue to me as they were not exactly hidden! We did report this to property management and we were given a discount which was nice! Also instead of filling the soap dispensers, they just filled them with water. Not a deal breaker but seems cheap when paying for a place on the beach! All in all we enjoyed our stay and would likely return to this house!

Nice Space to have a week stay

We enjoyed the location of being on the canal, easy access for our kayak out to the Nestucca. Good crabbing and clamming. Road noise where house sits was noisy, but front of house faced the water and trees, with lots of nice bird sounds. House NEEDS a maintenance man to attend to lots of little things, and need for a new toilet seat too. Cleaning/housekeeper was not good. No opportunity at check out to express how our stay was. I would recommend to others, but with the understanding of what it does not have, quality upkeep.
