Dream Away Cabin is a beautiful, cedar log cabin located in the picturesque Texas Hill Country. Situated on a three acre private estate, just a few minutes walk to beautiful Canyon Lake, the cabin is well positioned to access all the lake amenities, the Guadalupe river, the famous Texas wine country, live music in Gruene, or alternatively just kick back on the huge front porch or in the double hammock under shady trees and enjoy the property and observe the extensive native wildlife. This is an ideal vacation getaway for families or for that romantic retreat anytime of the year. Complete with jacuzzi tub, native stone fireplace, outdoor fire pit and grill, Dream Away Cabin is guaranteed to create life-long memories ā€¦

The cabin is made to the highest standards with real exposed cedar beams throughout. The large wood-burning fireplace is perfect for those chilly Fall/Winter nights. It is constructed from local limestone which is a signature feature of the cabin. An antique chest in the living area holds a large selection of board games and toys for the kids. The cabin is furnished with high-end log furniture including a cedar log dining set in the large screened-in rear porch - the perfect place for al-fresco dining. The master bedroom has a custom queen log bed with an en-suite bathroom and the second bedroom has a log bunk bed with a full over a queen in a very spacious configuration. Since the property is located in the up and coming Hill Country wine-growing region, one part of the cabin has been accented with elegant winery accessories and information is provided on some of the best winery tours in the area. We do however recognize the need for some twenty first century comforts so we offer free high-speed wi-fi, Alexa and a 52" high-definition TV with free access to Netflix for all guests. The property also provides ample parking if you are considering bringing your own boat. We have taken great care to find an outstanding maid service that ensures the cabin is cleaned to the highest standards ahead of your arrival.

Dream Away Cabin is located in a quieter part of Canyon Lake, away from the party goers along the river. During inclement weather, Olianna Bumbling Brook (a small wet-weather creek!) navigates a path through the live oaks on the west side of the property. This is a great place to explore for wildlife and also hunt for fossils. Throughout the year there are many deer that roam through the property and we offer all guests a bag of deer corn to feed them from the comfort of the front or rear porch. On occasion it is not uncommon to see a dozen or so deer wandering freely by the cabin. There are also foxes, badgers and a multitude of different birds that share this piece of land with us. During those beautiful warm Texas nights, grill outside with the BBQ we provide, then sit out on the front porch in one of the rocking chairs and watch shooting stars or toast marshmallows by the outdoor fire-pit and watch satellites pass across the big Texas sky. The secluded location is perfect for star-gazers so don't forget your telescope! Alternatively, grab the acoustic guitar that we provide our guests and serenade your friends until the wee hours.

This place is great. There were at least 12 deer walking through the property as we arrived the first evening. The cabin was comfortable and enjoyable for our family. We enjoyed exploring the property, feeding the deer, and drove in to town a few times plus San Antonio is not too far for day trips. Highly recommend this place and the host.

Great cabin to get away!

I love the property and the cabin was cozy and adorable. Although we were only there for one night, we had a great time. The firepit was perfect for roasting s'mores and the weather was just right for an evening outdoors. It is very close to the lake and we enjoyed watching the wildlife around the property. I would definitely return. We were sad to find the telescope wasn't available but still made the most of our time there. Thank you!

Phenomenal View

We have stayed at this property a few times now and are never disappointed. The view of the deer everywhere and the smile on our kids face is unforgettable and makes lasting memories for everyone. The location is great itā€™s near all of the major places but far enough away in the country. The property manager is amazing to work with they were able to let us extend our stay last minute which was very accommodating to our family plans . So many wonderful things about this property definitely would recommend everyone to stay here .

Wonderful stay!

We stayed at the Dream Away Cabin on 05/05/2016 to 05/08/2016. We truly enjoyed our stay. We were in need of peace and quiet. It was lots of fun to light up the fire pit and watch the twinkling stars above. The mornings and evenings were the best. We got to feed the deer. We took the half a mile walk down to the lake. The view was splendid. It is truly a magical place. I highly recommend this cabin.

Girls Trip

We rented this nice littel Cabin for a girls trip. Oh my, what a treat. We are all camera happy enthusiast. This place not only had the most spectacular view of deer visitors, but if you venture out... we found wildflowers, butterflies, we saw a Turkey, and a really fast Road runner. It was amazing... we left there with beautiful pictures. The cabin is beyond perfect.... we grilled one night and went to the Marina for sunset pictures on the next night. Thank you Stella, for an Awesome experience.

What a fantastic place! Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Dream Away Cabin is a beautiful, welcoming cedar log home. It is exceptionally clean, extremely well appointed, and care has been taken with all the little details. Stella was an absolute joy to work with, responding quickly to all my questions and providing excellent information on the area. The deer were plentiful and we loved to feed them from the comfort of the huge front porch. The lake is a short 10 minutes walk away down a peaceful country lane. I wish I could have stayed longer. If you are looking for a truly first rate country get away, look no further. I canā€™t believe I have not seen this gem in the Hill Country before. I will certainly be back

Great time just don't bring a boat!

We very much enjoyed our stay. This rental is definitely one of the cleanest properties we have rented on VRBO! Having my kids run around barefoot and not have black feet was wonderful! The cabin was very comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. We really enjoyed feeding the deer, and wished it wasn't so hot outside, so we could have enjoyed the porch more. A few things to note: 1) We brought our boat and there was NOT room to get the boat down the driveway (a small fishing boat or jet ski might fit). It is very curvy and trees were in the way. We could barely get our truck alone without hitting tree limbs. Description said plenty of boat parking so we didn't confirm it would fit with the owners before we booked (our fault and lesson learned). 2) There is not a full size fridge. Suggest bringing a big ice chest for storing drinks. 3) Bedroom with bunks does not cool down very well especially in the heat of summer. Nevertheless, we would definitely rent again if not bringing our boat!

A not so relaxing weekend getaway

My family and I were looking forward to a relaxing getaway to Canyon Lake during Memorial Day weekend. However, we didnā€™t know the owner would not be reachable or out of town away on a plane on our first day of arrival. When we first arrived, the pin to the front entrance gate could not be found. There was a code but due to the solar powered gate not working, the directions in the outdated cabin packet said to take the pin out if the arm attached to the gate and push it open. We found the pin located on top of the gate box. My poor husband didnā€™t know he was going to have to do more work after working all week but the TV wasnā€™t working properly and the description clearly said free Netflix which we thought would already be set up for us to enjoy with our kids during the evenings in the cabin. My husband drove to the nearest store to buy new batteries for the remote but then realized the fire stick remote latch was not opening and closing properly. When I tried called the owner Stella using the number she gave us on the packet, it went straight to voicemail several times. A VRBO agent who I called for assistance also couldnā€™t reach her. It wasnā€™t until around 2:30 am Stella texted me saying she was on a plane out of town and apologized. She didnā€™t give us any other contact to reach in her text until I asked for one who could come look at the tv. The housekeeper came on Saturday and confirmed it didnā€™t work. My husband and I were very frustrated maintenance was not done.

A few hints

Property was great ZERO complaints. If you need to de-wrinkle some clothes. There is a steam refresh setting on the dryer, it works great. The stools at the island make great end tables for movie night. If you decide on visiting the lake bring some lawn chairs and water shoes. this is the hill country, no sandy beaches.
